iPad guitar amp on stage? - XTone Pedal Interfaces Review

Very useful review! My live rig for a while now has been Bias FX running on an Ipad Pro controlled by a 10 button generic USB MIDI floorboard and a Zoom G3 with a completely blank patch as an audio interface. I use AUM as a patch manager in order to send to MIDI guitar 2 to control any of a number of AUV3 synths as needed per song and assign the synth channels to an expression pedal so I can fade them in and out. Initially, I did use a live amp with an ABY switch as you mentioned in the video, but after a while, switching to BIAS just streamlined everything and made more sense. This pedal could shrink my foot print even more. Thank you!

The AB switch idea could be done easily before input. Not everyone needs or wants that, so I think it was good to leave it out.

I’ve owned the black one channel model for 3 months now. The latency on this orca is the best compared to other brands, no crackling bc processing Boggs down. I wish there was an auxiliary input post processing, my iPhone won’t play jamtracks at controllable volumes simultaneously with music apps. I also would like a guitar input gain knob, the volume knob is just post process volume. An FX loop would be pushing it but that’s a good idea. I’d gladly pay the premium for the I/O works and whistles. I love my unit. I almost bought a multi-fx unit but already owned a few full guitar apps so I converted my phone into my unit for 150$ US dollars, now I can take a legit rig to a jam. Nice vid 42 thanks

I do a solo acoustic act. One guitar one vocal into a bose t1 tonematch 4 channel mixer then into 2 jbl eons. My question for this product is; Can this product be used in combination with my iphone 12 pro and a mixing app to completely replace my the bose t1 4 channel mixer in my solo rig? I cant seem to find a solid “yes” or “no” to this question. I just want to know if it can be used by itself for live performances without another mixer

BiasFX blew my mind when it came out. Specifically with the dual amp and pedal combinations I can't afford to own, or lug around if I did. I have a stereo setup in the software with a "mesa" dry and dirty, and a "Vox" slightly crunchy, and wet with all time & mod effects, that I am rather fond of and have named "The Grohl"...For obvious reasons. This may be the gadget I have been looking for taking those tones from studio to stage. Let's say you ran the L & R outs into two Pedal babies, or a Powerstage 700, or even the FX return of two Micro Darks powering two cabs? In theory, you would virtually have a warehouse of amps & effects at your fingertips...er...feet so to say. BiasFx is soo good that I can run a pre amp pedal with a boost into my Focusrite 18i8 as my main drive tone, by turning the digital pre amp & tone stack [OFF] in global settings, thus only using effects, poweramp simulation, and cab IR's with amazing results. Sir, first let me say very good video. I enjoyed watching it on normal speed. When it seemed you had not figured it out before you started the video it kind of lost me, but I'm certainly in no position to throw stones. I also wanted to state, your guitar had very nice in tune sound with the overdrive on. note to self I need to do my frets and set my intonation LOL. lastly, I'm not sure I have seen a more impressive collection of amp heads on KZbin.

just a quick note. as I came towards the end of your video you were talking about a synth sound. I wasn't even gonna bring this up, however I do use a set up similar to this but I do have a GK2A a Roland sampler connected to my Stratocaster. I also run this through a Digitech jam man so that I have as many inputs as I need and I can use as many small amplifiers or as many channels on the soundboard as I need. Also to get an underlying drone vis--vis cliffs of Dover intro by Eric Johnson, I have a freeze pedal that connects to the synthesizer and one that connects to the guitar signal as I want to use it. I am a retired classical guitar professor and found many years ago while I was playing rock and jazz gigs that carrying a large tube amplifier around as well as my pedalboard was too much work. I had to get there the same time as the people setting up the main PA in order to set up 2 half stacks, crunch clean and over driven and also a bose 802 system for my synthesizer. it was a lot of fun, I've played with a lot of great musicians, but just too much work. finally remember that you're never gonna sound any better than your playing. I set second chair in the original Stetson guitar quartet. Our number one player, as well as the first or second player at Stetson University, was able to wake up at 6 AM and play Carcassi 7 just the way he had played it the night before while ending practice. The main take away from this young man was how to practice. You practice just as you want the audience to hear you play. if you continue with mistakes you were only practicing mistakes. Remember, practice does not make perfect practice makes permanent.

It's a good interface if you plan on using it with an iPhone, iPad or Mac. Drivers for Windows are very unstable for me (it uses ASIO4ALL). The one thing that bothers me the most is that I can't switch between CC Groups without triggering the CC commands. I'd really like to be able to program the messages, as some software demand specific targets... Still, it really is solidly built.

Anyone shipping a pro audio device that uses ASIO4ALL should be publicly ridiculed. IK Multimedia / TC Helicon and others are also guilty.

These products apparently have a bigger cousin: the Harley Benton MP-500 Interface/Foot Control aka MeloAudio Tone Shifter. HP, how about doing a comparison?

Great review. Extra points for the rhyming. I am concerned about latency for live performance? They "claim" down to 3ms, I'm wondering. I feel like there's latency with my IK Multimedia iLok. Interesting but disturbing cat shirt by the way. What about MIDI thru? Is there any real difference between the MIDI modes (green, blue and red)?...or....is it just like a 'bank' up/down Did you state the Pro version DOES NOT send program change messages? [it seems this is needed most?] but you seemed to be able do program changes with CC messages, correct? Double extra points for the Nirvana piano.....just sayin' Thanks for the review. FYI - You can run the Jam Origin under live DAW or Host App like AudioBus or AUM

Do this allow for true bypass - so it doesn’t affect the sound when used with other pedals and act solely as an input interface for iOS in the meantime?

I gather with this box you can’t program multiple midi events on a switch. Out side of the audio inter face which for the Morningstar would need to be a separate device, I presume Xtone doesn’t work like the Morningstar midi controller where a sequence of events can be triggered.

Would any expression pedal like M-Audio EX-P, Boss EV-5, Line 6 EX-1 work with this hardware and would it be able to interface with say Bias FX and change the volume on Preset 1 and work like a wah on Preset 2?

What cable is plugged in to your Xtonepro the stereo to your amp? How do you power on the audio interface?

You should try all of that but with AUM or Audiobus in your iPad. It would make a huge difference.

so i bought it and it sounds very good, but it disconnects itself from the sound after some time until you disconnects it from the usb and power supply. so i wouldn't use it on stage

Can you use that amp sim for live use? If so, do I take it you can't connect the interface to an actual speaker cab? or can you? And if not, what then does it connect to for actual sound amplification? So you have your guitar into your interface into your computer (where it's converted and processed by the software), back out again, and then out from there to......a PA (or mixer which then goes to PA)? So assuming all this is correct, when using the amp/cab sim, you still won't be able to get that "amp in the room" moving of air that people so love their big ballsy tube amps for? Am I getting it all right here? Thanks.

I bought xtone pro and it got damaged in win 10 I see subdevice error and other pc is same problame, they not even consider to replace it or fix it ! Horrible service , they said that is for os and iOS, so why it for windows ? ? Wtf

@@popo_perez hi bro, the latency is good, and after the update I run it in 192,in 5.6 ms In bias amp software, I really liked, but when you go for very very fast style u can hear the little latency, But ! If i stay 44hz u get very smooth and stable To be honest, I am very happy with the xtone right now .

I don't know whether you are one Chinese consumer or foreign consumer. I will never suggest to buy the xTone product from this Chinese company. To be correct, it is Chong Qing Ji Yin tech cor. This company just lie the all the customers. When I just try my best to correct their fake introduction about the product and the discount. They told me that you are reviewing English version web pages. It's just like that. It's not a big thing, but I still want to correct it and complain to the government. They told me the same. When I ask them, the foreign in China need to view Chinese web page, but cannot view English web page because they will get wrong info. They just hang on my call. Ugly company and stupid governers, we pay so much tax to support them, then they never solve problems for us! The company even didn't try to correct their wrong description on the web site. That's why I suggest all you guys refuse their product, Let them go to hell.
