That´s a totally sick piece of music. Awesome backing track. I remember a fusion song like this from you many years back.

Killer video. I've been looking to buy something like this for running amp plugins live and I am so stoked to know it plays well with the Neural DSP stuff.

I received my Xtone Pro and the sound quality is good BUT, I have to mention something about the switches and MIDI implementation for anyone wanting it to use it for more serious MIDI control: there's a BIG issue in that the switches send MIDI commands only on "release" of the switch and not on the "pressing" of them (I confirmed this with a MIDI monitor utility that shows you the exact timestamps and all details of the MIDI messages) this creates extra latency and it's useless to assign it to loopers or anything that requires precise MIDI control, The manual details how to access several MIDI modes (latching, momentary and toggle) plus the 3 banks for a total of 18 switches plus 3 different continuos control for expression pedal per bank... This issue on the switches makes it unusable for precise MIDI control, even the IK multimedia Blueboard is better for that: on the BlueBoard it correctly registers a MIDI command on "Pressing" and another one on "Releasing" the switch (as most MIDI controllers do!) and as I said, the Xtone pro "momentary" mode (mode 2) has an error as it sends 0 and 127 at the SAME time rendering useless the momentary mode!, the switches should be sending MIDI data BOTH on pressing them and also on release but the customer support says "that's is not a bug, it´s a feature" as they say "they programmed it that way as the Xtone access the different mode changes via long press of the switches and they don't want it to send a MIDI command on the "press" as it'd send MIDI data while changing modes"... Also, the continuos control does not fully send 0-127 as it skips every 8 steps, so if you see it on a MIDI monitor you'll see going in values of "0-8-16-24-32-40" etc instead of "0-1-2-3-4-5" and so on, this creates a horrible "jumping" effect if you assign it to a volume control or something that requires fine continuos values as you'll hear the values jumping instead of a smooth transition from 0 to 127... I've had it for 3 days and it's been 2 times where it also stops sending MIDI messages at all, audio keeps passing but no MDI internally or externally, have to reboot it many times in order to get it to work again, it's NOT reliable at ALL!.... Hope that info is valuable for anyone wanting to use this for precise MIDI control as it does not work correctly for that

SADLY…. I didn’t see this comment before I bought mine. Have you found any other devices that send both Audio and MIDI in a USB interface to an iOS device? I’m still looking. The only one I know of that sends both (Audo and MIDI) besides this one is one of the iRig products.
@Alex_Martz3 жыл бұрын
@@vio4jesus Hi, so far the only other interface that I know is the MeloAudio Tone Shifter Mega (in Europe is know as Harley Benton MP-500, same thing) but most reviews of these units are bad for the audio part as they say it's buggy and has ZERO customer support, it's about the same price... For me I guess I better use a dedicated MIDI controller and keep my current focusrite audio interface, that way I can have great audio quality and proper MIDI control, it's not compact but it's reliable and pro which the Xtone fails to do... also, I ran more tests and the instrument input of the XtonePro has a limiter and High Pass Filter that you can't modify, since the input level is fixed I guess they have to set a limiter inside to avoid clipping but that affects the dynamics of your guitar pickups, also the HPF takes away the very low end necessary for 7 or 8 string guitars

@@Alex_Martz Alex - I found a work around of sorts for this. I happened to have another MIDI controller at home (a Morningstar MC6). Morningstar makes great products. It’s a little tricky, but there’s a couple of steps. First I connected the Morningstar MIDI Controller to my computer and there’s a website interface where you assign what type of messages you want the foot switches to send (and you can assign them any way you want like on press, on double press, on release, on long press), and in this interface you assign what type of MIDI message you want the switch to send. So….I just did a different program change message for each of the 6 foot switches on the Morningstar. NEXT… I connected the Morningstar MIDI Controller directly to my iPad, and then in AUM I used the learn function to assign these program change messages to various I wanted controlled. I saved the session, and then finally… I used a MIDI cable to connect the Morningstar to the XTone (MIDI out to MIDI in). When I plugged in the USB Audio interface from the XTone, the Program Change messages sent by the Morningstar go through the Xtone and into the iPad. SooOOooo it’s a work around. Yeah - the ENTIRE reason we bought the Xtone because it supposedly had BOTH audio and MIDI. So if you happen to have another MIDI controller, it can pass messages through the XTone. Just an FYI. Morningstar has some great products. The back row of foot switches on their product actually sits up higher (stuff like that is awesome)
@Alex_Martz3 жыл бұрын
@@vio4jesus Hi, yes, I know the Morningstar products, they're great but a little expensive although they're great quality... I agree with you on the last part: the only reason we bought the Xtone is to have a one-single solution for both audio and MIDI control on iOS and it fails to deliver, I don't see a point in adding an extra MIDI foot controller to it, it defeats the purpose of a unified solution, for that I rather keep my previous setup of a Scarlett audio Interface and a Behringer FCB1010 for MIDI control, that combo is awesome and not expensive, (the same price as a single Xtone) but it's not as "portable" but hey, I rather have good performance and reliability than "portability" at the expense of less quality and control of the Xtone

Thanks a lot for sharing it. Have you contacted the guys from xtone about this issue? Maybe they can offer a firmware upgrade to elimante it? I will just ask them myself and comment here what they say about it.

Tom is the only guy who said about the latency of this interface when using with computer. I saw another clip from Korean. They get 256buffer or 13ms. from this interface when using 44.1khz. And I read in ebay review ,one guy said this xtone has much higher latency than normal audio interface when using in pc.

Looking at this as an interface, I couldn’t find anything on Xsonic’s website that says it can take my pedalboard. Haven’t found any demo of that either, I guess the reason is because it’s mainly designed to be used with iOS. Does anyone know if this can be used for pedals as well? (No particular chain in mind, only a bunch of pedals and a preamp pedal).

Would any expression pedal like M-Audio EX-P, Boss EV-5, Line 6 EX-1 work with this hardware and would it be able to interface with say Bias FX and change the volume on Preset 1 and work like a wah on Preset 2?

Sounds like a great device! Too bad (or good?) the tones are in those fingers!
@vio4jesus3 жыл бұрын
Well…. it turns out, this device (Xtone) sends the MIDI message on release of the foot switch, NOT on the the press of the foot switch. This is nothing less than pitiful. If you’re trying to coordinate patch or preset changes, if you’re trying to trigger record/play buttons for looping….. don’t waste your money!
@Yosser70 Жыл бұрын
Hey mate, I know this is an old comment but I’m a bit confused. If you know it only sends the midi on release, couldn’t that be more accurate than it doing it on the press? If you want an effect to come on wouldn’t you just put your foot on the switch and release it when you want? I know it’s not how pedals work but it doesn’t seem that big of a deal. Not arguing with you buddy, just not sure it’s such a big deal.
@ahall38234 жыл бұрын
Awesome. And 2.5ms is nothing. It’s probably less than the latency you get across a medium size stage.
@ahall38234 жыл бұрын
Actually, sound can only travel ~1m in 2.5ms. But you always need to be careful when reading the quoted latency figures. Often, the quoted latency time is only for the A/D conversion. The real latency time is the full round trip, i.e. A/D conversion + digital processing + D/A conversion. So, the 'round' trip may be more like 10ms, or more. Even 10ms would be, for all practical purposes, inperceivable. Sound travels 3.5m (11ft) in 10ms, which, is about the distance from me to my amp when playing on stage.
