Excellent video. Thanks for posting. Facing a similar issue with A1893 (ipad 6). Drawing current but not charging. Tristar & dockflex testing fine with tester. Very likely will be a bad cap and will confirm with thermal camera.

Hi Lim, i am very interested on the type of mosfet , as I dun understand why it become short when entering voltage(without pressing the on/off switch)....unless it is depletion type, isn't it?

I have this exact model and apparently it's prone to have the charging circuit to short on a lot of models.

Have a ipad 4 with 99.7% no touch movement, just a few seconds it moves , so maybe a very resistant touch filter with high resistance?. I cant see and blown or dark coloured ones and my tips are way too big to test these really tiny components! haha Already reinstalled back to factory reset so dont think its software related and tried another working screen. So will have to keep working on it..

Hi, I have just come across your channel and think you are really good in what you do! I am now a subscriber! I was trying to research this problem I'm having with my daughter's iPad 6th gen wifi, when I saw your channel. Her iPad is disabled because she messed around with the passcode. I have tried connecting to itunes/Finder but when attached to my Macbook, nothing happens. It is as if the computer does not detect the iPad. Because of that, I am not able to go into Recovery Mode. The iPad just keeps looping on and off and finally back to the "iPad disabled connect to itunes" screen. I have tried this with two Macbooks, my wife's Windows laptop and several different charging cables so I know these are not the issue. I thought it was a hardware problem (the lightning port) but the iPad could still charge using the wall outlet, just not on any of my computers. I am not based in Malaysia, otherwise I would gladly send it to you for repair. Wondering if you are willing to share what you think is the problem before I send it off to the repair shop (not Apple store).

Great video. What voltage did you use to test the short?
@jackmclane1826 Жыл бұрын
Low. 1V. Whenever such boards draw current at 1V a short must be suspected. Because nothing on there would start up at such low voltage.

My iPad Pro 10.7 began restarting when I moved it in certain ways and eventually it stopped turning on altogether so I took it to the Apple Store and they looked at it and saw that it was bent. They told me that they would not be able to fix it but they would have to replace it as they no longer take iPads apart to fix them. The employee explained to me that the reason that my iPad may be restarting when it was moved is that due to it being bent if certain parts inside the iPad are now touching, it can stop the iPad from turning on or cause the iPad to restart. I therefore took the iPad home and decided to try and bend it straight to see if that made a difference and to see if it stopped whatever may be inside the iPad from touching and causing it not to work. I was worried that bending the iPad straight may break the screen but I gave it a go anyway. I bent the iPad back straight and then put the iPad on charge overnight. I took the iPad off charge in the morning not expecting to see it working but the iPad was fully charged at 100% after not being able to turn on for about two months. Now the iPad works perfectly fine. So to anybody out there who might have a bent iPad that doesn’t turn on try and bend it back straight and see if that works. I did not notice that the iPad was bent before taking it to the Apple Store. If for any reason your iPad is not turning on or randomly restarts check if it’s bent and if so, try to gently bend it back straight and it may start working again!!!
