This is why solder paste is usually used with a stencil of some sort so only the pads are covered with a thin layer of paste.

Thanks for sharing this kind of work with everyone! I've had similar results in the past. In a repair environment where stencils aren't really an option, the only reliable way to use paste that i'm aware of is a solder paste dispenser. Thanks again for everything you've contributed to the community.

The only luck I have ever had with solder paste is either with stencil or using a syringe like you do with the Amtek flux, put it on each pad. It is really hard to do micro soldering like that with it, of course you are 100X better than me at soldering, so you already know that lol. Thanks for sharing you make the connector look to easy! 👍

This might work if there was some sort of stencil to put the paste on the pads.

Hi, as always great video. Can you tell more about the temperatures and air flow that you use in solder and desoldering in order to not melt the connectors or damage the board. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Every hot air station is different. Usually i would start at 395c from far to preheat the board then i come close. You have to practice on a bad board to see what works for you.

Hi Sir, like always very good work. But in order to do this work we need parts...can you make a video about that little box of yours? What parts you have in and from where do you buy them?

Is it a good idea to put kapton tape over the components nearby the one you want to remove to protect them from the heat and prevent their solder from being reflowed?

Do you think besides shorts, the conductivity is not as good as regular solder wire?

Hi sir, again a very instructive video, thanks !! Would you use the same method to replace a faulty connector from a iphone flex cable and is it possible for this kind of job to use a good connector from a donor cable or it's to fragile to remove with hot air ?
@NorthridgeFix
@NorthridgeFix 5 жыл бұрын
FPC connectors are very fragile. You can take of donor board, but it takes allot of practice and you must know your hot air station very well. I did it in several videos kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWfUfWhqn9ypppo and kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWqnZXqVh8uLrdE and kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXebd4KhqdljobM

Is that a kit of FPC connectors or just a storage box you stock your FPC connectors in? If it is a kit of various FPC connectors, where did you buy it?

Should use a small thinner line solder pasta....okkk
@marshalm385
@marshalm385 4 жыл бұрын
Hey.. 1You should not put solder paste into connectors component because it will make a gap between both component... 2. You shouldn't make hot directly like this because that's plastic part of components will melt

To much solder paste. Before using hot air, use soldering iron to apply the solder paste to contacts. Then clean, put flux and new connector Temperature to high. 320 is ok. 395 is to much

Too much solder paste, you don't even need half of what you put there. Just take a fine syringe and put a fine line on each side, you don't need more.
