It's a little disappointing that Apple is using a 5-core GPU variant of the A17 Pro chip. This means that these are the leftover chips that didn't have all 6 GPU cores working up to standard and that the better binned chips were used in last year's iPhones. I'm interested in seeing the GPU performance benchmark results compared to the M1 iPad Air. I had been a Mini user since the iPad Mini 2, but I bought a 256gb M1 iPad Air in July on sale for $499. I'm glad that I did given that the new Mini did not eclipse it in performance. Perhaps its neural engine is better suited to run the new AI features, so I'll be watching benchmark reviews in the future to compare.
@loughrey101Ай бұрын
Yep, that's precisely why they are using the A17 Pro rather than the A18. They had no products to put the flawed A17 Pro chips into so had a lot piling up. But I guess on the plus said it's that it kept prices down and we still get all the benefits of the iPhone 15 Pro along with 8GB of ram for the same price so I'm happy

It's also thr cheapest access for me into Apple Intelligence as I won't be upgrading to the iPhone 16 this year ( though I will have it on my 16 inch M1 Pro). For me it's great price for an 8GB iPad mini with 128gb storage. It's a much better buy than the iPad mini 6 was. What I would love to know is if the iPad mini will get the 35w charging speeds like the iPhone 16 did, especially as they upgrading the USB-C to double the transfer speeds. I would hate that the iPad mini is still charging at 20w considering it's a bigger battery than the iPhone 16 so takes longer to charge. Someone may have said this already, but Apple called 120hz "ProMotion", and ProMotion is a "pro" feature ONLY for "pro" devices, obviously with a screen. You guys want an ipad with 120hz? Get the ipad pro. Same goes for iphones and macbooks. Simple as that, despite the cost.

Most would consider promotion, an oled display, or greatly enhanced battery life major reasons to upgrade. In this video, unconfirmed speculation that jelly scrolling is fixed is a "MAJOR" reason to upgrade. Losing pink colour and gaining blue colour is a "MAJOR" reason to upgrade. Double dipping on the processor improvement by mentioning the A17 pro and the neural engine of the A17 pro (which is part of the A17 pro) are two separate "MAJOR" reasons to upgrade. Double dipping on enhanced wireless connectivity by splitting wifi and bluetooth into separate reasons are both "MAJOR" reasons to upgrade.

Honestly, I think the iPad Air is the sweet spot in terms of size.

Hell yes! I have been waiting to upgrade my mini 4. Though I feel bad for peeps that recently paid 499.00 for the 64 gig mini 6. P.S. the mini 6 case is on eBay for 25.00. It is compatible with the mini 7. Bought a new one in burnt orange before people wise and the prices shoot up!

Why all the hand ringing over upgrading to the iPad Mini 7? I pulled the trigger immediately. I bought the 256K which cost $600 and got a $230 trade-in for my 64K iPad Mini 6 for an out of pocket $370. For me, that’s a bargain. I get a faster processor, more ram, four times the memory, a faster USB , pencil Pro support , access to Apple intelligence and a brand new device.

Yeah, I think I'll stick to my 6 for the time being

This will he my first one. Pencil pro support, a 17 prox and wifi 6e and bluetooth 5.3 is enough for me to get it

60hz isnt the issue.... if u want that w oled then get pro. I just wish to put m2 chip/ better faster ram etc. I'm torn between air or pro. mini sold and gave up

I hope there is the extended monitor function available on mini

2 huge reasons to avoid it: 60hz display (even now that supports the Pencil Pro) No second monitor support

I love the Mini, but own the Pro. If Apple made a Mini Pro, that could be a game changer! 😎

Why won’t they increase the battery of their iPads? The iPad Air 4, 5 and 6 all has the exact same capacity and the iPad mini 4, 5, 6 and 7th generation has the same capacity as well.

Without 120Hz display and face ID. This just seems like it's a complete waste of money to me. Kind of sad really, because I'd love to buy one of these to take with me when I go camping.
@mrbojangles1391Ай бұрын
Not everyone wants 120Hz or FaceID. I don’t…which makes this almost perfect.😊

WiFi 6, 6E etc requires a 6 or 6E compatible WiFi router else you don’t reap the benefit. Might want to point that out. Or not. Your call.
@georgewashington3012Ай бұрын
Yeah, the vast majority of consumers don’t even have a 6E compatible router. It’s useless to most buyers. They focused on spec bumps no one was asking for.
@jaycahow4667Ай бұрын
@@georgewashington3012 I get 500 Mb speeds on my Wifi 5 9h Generation tablet and that is more than enough. Wifi 6 and 6E are marginal upgrades in Wifi unless you have congested Wifi.

It's a good upgrade on the sixth gen iPad Mini, but I wished Apple had put the A18 Pro chip in the new iPad Mini and not the A17 Pro, especially as this device has a long refresh cycle. The A17 Pro was fabricated on the old TMSC 3nm process that was expensive and had low yield issues, and I thought this process was going to be decommissioned. So, what happens if Apple's stock of binned A17 Pro chips runs out?

Great update and trade in iPad mini 6. Ready to upgrade
@blashominАй бұрын
The iPad mini 6 is the only Apple device I have that I like. I had high expectations with the new iPad mini and I'm super disappointed Apple does the same thing over and over again. no major change. I expected fewer frames. better camera. better screen resolution.
@Taxiway_AlphaАй бұрын
The pixel density is so high that you can’t even see the pixels. Why would they increase the resolution. Do you just like seeing high numbers? 😂
@blashominАй бұрын
@Taxiway_Alpha you'd understand if you saw what Samsung does with its screens 🙂
