Good video for me as I just started using iPad Pro to cull, edit etc. can you describe a) how you synchronized from the iPad to Classic (did you do it through Edit-Preferences-Lightroom Sync; if yes did you create the Catalogue to sync to first?), b) when photos were synced from iPad, how did you get them to a location on your pictures folder and then how did you delete the raw files from your iPad.

Hey, Reggie. Nice tutorial. Quick question. In your example, you downloaded the images from the SD card to an external drive. Then you imported into Lr on the iPad from that external drive. Did that step copy the files onto your iPad? This has always been the deal killer for me with an all-iOS workflow. I was limited by the amount of my Lr storage because the catalog couldn't reference files on an external drive. Has that changed? On a different subject, I believe iOS 15 will finally give us a progress circle when transferring files.

The importing to the drive was for pure backup purposes

Hi Reggie. A question for you re Fuji raw files and worms/softness/blur in Lightroom on iPad that I think might be helpful to your viewer-base as well should you choose to repond…. I’m a long time follower/admirer and Canon 7d2 shooter. You single-handedly got me interested in Fuji but I haven’t yet made the switch. Perhaps til now. The Canon R7 disappointed me and the X-H2s ticks all my wish list boxes. My only concern over switching is the dreaded Fuji worms/blur issue caused by adobe’s raw convert engine that still seems to get a lot of attention. I’m not interested in using Lightroom’s enhance feature or third party raw transformers as i don’t want the file size penalties or workflow time/complexity costs (your video on this a few years back was great and very helpful, thanks). Moreover I’ve pretty much migrated to doing all my culling and editing in Lightroom on iPad at this point. All that said, here’s my question… Is the worms/softness/blur issue still a problem today when editing Fuji RAW files in Lightroom, specifically on the iPad? If yes, is it an “all files“ or a “certain files“ thing, or not at all anymore? Also, if worms/blur is still a problem with Fuji in Adobe, have you noticed if there is a difference in Lightroom on the iPad vs computer at this point? I’ve looked around a lot and haven’t been able to assess this for myself. Hoping you might be able to provide some insight. Thanks in advance! Much appreciated. Happy your back. I very much enjoy your content and perspectives.

Yes, yes, and yes. You get superior results with Topaz at the cost of having to export a TIFF or PSD on which to use the plug ins. If DxO follows through on its promise to start supporting X-Trans files, PureRAW should give you even better results than DeNoiseAI. There are plenty of YT videos showing what all these products can do. The results can really be outstanding.

What I really do not understand, why you add your photos to files! You can import them directly from your SD Card into Lightroom. The photos will be directly uploaded when you are connected to WiFi. You have your backup with that correct, as long you do not delete them from the SD card. At your desktop you can keep a copy somewhere as they will automatically be downloaded. The advantage of this workflow is that you do not use the additional expensive Apple iCloud in parallel to the Adobe cloud. You do not need the external drive. This way it also does not take disk space on your iPad because of Lr file management which keeps the photos in the cloud.
@Reggiebphoto3 жыл бұрын
I didn’t put them in files. I put them in my ssd using the files app
@Rocodil3 жыл бұрын
@@Reggiebphoto I understand, I overlooked that. Nevertheless, one can just import in Lr directly. In preferences on the desktop, select local storage and the files will be backed-up on your desktop hard drive (true imbedded in Lr) without the need of the external SSD. If you like you can also export original files to a different desk top location (with the benefit that you have your changes in the XMP sidecar). Anyway, the biggest challenge as you know is to manage all these different versions of the photos. That is why I personally prefer to keep everything in Lr -cc and nothing else. I like your videos, thanks!
