@DemonDark88 It is a bit different, but not overly tough. Just take your time, follow the guide, and you shouldn't have any issue. No problem at all, and good luck!

@CrazyBoyJesus All of the iPad first gens are black. I'm sure there are aftermarket white screens, but I would be a bit cautious as quality is normally compromised.

@lilirit This is an issue with the "glass touch screen digitizers" flex cable. You will need to make sure the flex cable is not damaged and that the connection is fully in place. This will likely resolve the issue.

It's possible the battery has become dysfunctional, or perhaps the charge port flex cable is damaged. It doesn't sound like the charger itself is the issue.

Thank you im gona try this in a few weeks my mom broke my ipad of all things monday and the meatal plates bent do u have a video on that to

@simmbad08 We currently do not have any SMD connector replacements for the iPad. I would have thought other supplier would have these available. If not, replacing the full connector would be necessary, however I am unsure how difficult it will be to track down that either.

@lilirit No problem at all! It is not the simplest repair, but following the instructions closely does help. Glad you found the video useful! Let us know if you have any further questions.

@RepairsUniverse Great - thanks for replying. I will check it out and see how I get on. Think I took on a bit much by trying to replace it myself, but nowhere in NZ does it that I know of. Your video is great by the way - I looked at lots before I decided to follow your instructions.

Did my first disassembly today on a 1st gen, the digitizer is smashed but LCD is fine. To anyone else who wants to change out a digitizer, buy the full assembly with the frame, metal clips and wifi antenna (seen at 4:29). The glass alone is cheap but you will pay in stress. Still scraping off adhered broken glass
@Repairsuniverseusa11 жыл бұрын
When scraping or removing the broken glass . Use your heat gun to remove the glass easier. Go slow as not to over heat the frame as you are removing the glass.

Sorry to hear that! If you would like to replace the screen we have all the parts available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
@jonnyvmusic13 жыл бұрын
@DemonDark88 looks essentially the same. actually easier because there isn't like 20 screws to remove from the digitizer to remove the screen

@FruitNinjaPhenom No problem! Currently we only have this video guide for the iPad, we do have a written take apart guide available on our site - RepairsUniverse (dot) com - which may have some more information that may help. All of our guides are located under the "fitting instructions" tab.

I have an iPad 1st-gen. The battery is not charging. Used a data cable with a pc and also with a USB wall adapter rated 1A. I know for a fact the cable is good as it can charge my iphone. The ipad has about 17% charge left so i keep it off. When the cable is connected to the ipad, it will power on but not charge. Is this a logic board problem or a internal cable problem? Someone said ipads need a 2A charger? Any help would be appreciated

I've just replaced the LCD screen on my iPad 3g. It will power up and the screen is clear (before it had a wide line through the middle), but the "touch" part won't work. I've checked the connector from the LCD screen and it seems to be connected correctly. Any other ideas please?

Can an iPad be brought back to life if the screen is destroyed, and I'm not sure how to describe it, but the liquid inside of it is gone. Like I can't see the screen no more. One night my husband had fallen asleep on it and there was this black line going down the middle of it and few days later it spread to this multi bright colors and week later, nothing. Is it truly dead, or can it e brung back to life?
