For the cleanest look I have very minimal apps on my iPad and iPhones home screen. Then I just use spotlight to open anything

Thanks for the tips. Since I have the new Magic Keyboard 2 I’m using spotlight and I love it to quickly convert Fahrenheit, pounds, miles into Dutch/European measurements. Do you know if you can use spotlight to quickly translate English text to Dutch or the other way around with spotlight?

This is an awesome video! Love the topic - I think spotlight is a really underrated but powerful feature. And you showed some tips I would’ve never known about, like the natural language input to create calendar events from spotlight. Did they include that feature into the calendar app in iOS / iPadOS 18? Natural language is working for me in-app now on iOS 18.1 😄

I use spotlight a lot, it really is a great tool. My only issue is, that searching within files only works on local files, which is absolutely understandable. However, I haven’t found a way to automatically download files that are synced through iCloud Drive. If I add a file let‘s say on my Mac, I have to manually force the download on my iPad. It would really be great if the device could do that for me.

Hi Chris - I was watching a video on how to block time on Apple calendar by dragging a reminder or a Things task over to the calendar. It works on MacOS but not IOS - that seems strange - maybe I was doing it incorrectly? Seems like a good way to work around limitations of Things tasks with due dates not showing up automatically on Calendar but only within the calendar inside Things. Hope IOS 18 can fix this.

I hate Spotlight. The results for searching my files are not helpful. The old search was far better. Hate it on Mac, hate it on my iPad, hate it on iPhone. It needs to be trashed and redone.
