I think the correct component im thinking here is the strut, not the shock, and can you recommend a stiffer shock for my 2015 XC70? I miss the feeling of stiffer feel like my previous V60 CC. Thanks.

This is largely based upon the service usage of the vehicle. Volvo suggest inspecting your shocks every 10,000 miles per the service interval on the 240s, replace pairs as needed. Generally most manufacturers suggest inspect and replace as needed around 60,000 miles and if not replaced earlier to do so at 100,000 miles. However, on heavy service vehicles or if the vehicle is used in harsher road conditions or off road, some suggest inspect and replace as needed at 30k and if not replaced, replace the units at 60k. You can find the suggested service interval for your car in the owners or service manual.
