Hey Drew, there’s an accessibility option called ‘reduce white point’ that does EXACTLY what you want and dims any iOS device’s brightness to an incredibly low degree. It’s a must-have option for night time use and in dark places when apps don’t support dark mode. I don’t know how to make sure you read this comment but I really hope you read it because it WILL change your life! 🤯

There’s a bug that when you turn that on and change brightness, the screen flickers at a certain brightness level. Is anyone else experiencing this? I have the bug on my XS Max.
@corneliussmith58754 жыл бұрын
I’ve had my Xs max for 2 years now and I can say it’s aged well. I charge it once a day but that’s not the end of the world. I’m just happy iOS updates keep the phone feeling new. The experience between the XS max and every x style iPhone is the same so to upgrade for just the hardware isn’t enough for me. Like the bump in internals each year is just a housing for the software. That’s the beauty of iOS devices and why instead of upgrading my phone I decided on just getting the iPad Pro 2020 11 inch because the amount you can do on a phone is limited by the screen size. The recent ipad updates has made. Feel more in line as a laptop replacement.

Couldn’t agree more. The 11 Pro series, in my mind, was always meant to perfect what was started with the X and XS series. I’m personally on a XS Max right now, and honestly, other than the battery not being *great*, I don’t have much to complain about. Definitely plan on keeping it for at least a couple more years, and that’s probably the best option for most current 11 Pro series owners as well. Unless iPhone X owners want a larger size phone, they can probably also comfortably use their phone for longer. (I saw most because it’s always possible that, depending on your career, you may require the latest and greatest camera available at any time, amongst other factors)

7:11 if any of you feel the same way about the display not getting as dim as you like it, I have a suggestion for you. Go to Settings and go to Accessibility. Click on Zoom and turn it on. You will probably be automatically zoomed in. Double tap with three fingers on the screen to zoom out. You might go to Zoom Region and set it to Full Screen Zoom. Then go to You may want to go down to Zoom Controller and turn it off. Now go to Filter and turn on Low Light. Keep in mind having this on means that you may accidentally zoom in if you double tap with three fingers on the screen. Now it is pretty much set up. This does “stack” with lowering your phone brightness, so you can have a super dark screen. If you want it to be enabled and disabled easily I suggest adding it to your Accessibility Shortcut so you can triple click the side button to turn down your brightness. I hope this helped and this took a while to make, consider leaving a like. If you have any questions, feel free to reply and I will get back to you as soon as I can!

I've got the green iPhone 11 (Drew definitely helped push me to iPhone from Android) and I too don't feel it's worth upgrading to anything this year. The iPhone 12 sounds really nice, but given how good the 11 is and how much I'm loving it, I don't see myself wanting to upgrade for at least another couple of years. the LCD is obviously not as good as the OLED, but still looks very pretty, the size is perfect, and loving the cameras!
@Ka_T_ya4 жыл бұрын
Caden Churchill Same! I’m in love with my 11 ,don’t wanna upgrade cuz I’m loving it too much 😂 I actually like the screen a lot tbh, I feel like is mostly an artificial stigma created by YT reviewers on the topic of OLED vs lcd,as in fact OLED has a lot of negatives too ( which is why people work on mini led and micro led),but just not many speak on the topic. So the parrots just repeat what they hear and hate on it. I think iPhone 11 up to this date is the best value phone,which is why it is the best selling phone for the year ,and which is why it finally pulled me over from the android side ( and will keep me here) 😎
@cadenchurchill42964 жыл бұрын
Katya I agree with the screen, very nice not having to worry about things like burn in! Before the iPhone 11 I was Android too, moved over from an OnePlus 6. What about you?
@Ka_T_ya4 жыл бұрын
Caden Churchill I moved from upper A series on Samsung,before that 3-4 Sony phones, my first smartphone was a Samsung too. Galaxy tab also. I wasn’t happy at all,and I lived with the vastly pushed idea that “ iPhones are too expensive “, but when I saw the comparison of prices of an iPhone 11 and the base S models of Samsung costing like 300$ more,while in my region giving shifty Exynos chipset on top of it. The choice was pretty easy. Now with iPhone 11 I e never been happier ,and the chipset is a beast.
@cadenchurchill42964 жыл бұрын
Katya Nice! I’m definitely disappointed it’s taken Samsung so long to come out with a S series device that’s priced comparably to the iPhone 11. In my area we’ve got Snapdragon, but the cheapest S20 is like $300 more than the iPhone 11, and I really don’t feel it’s worth spending that much more. Personally I’ve only ever owned one Samsung, the Galaxy Ace II X (which was awful), an LG G3, G5, and the OnePlus. The OnePlus was the only Android I really enjoyed, but really fell in love with the iPhone! The night mode is pretty amazing compared to every other phone I’ve ever owned. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Samsung A series devices.
@Ka_T_ya4 жыл бұрын
Caden Churchill Yes, Samsung is a whole year too late with the s20FE . And seriously the iOS just runs so much better . Not to mention I don’t even have to replace this phone for many years if I don’t really want to, cuz unlike androids, iPhones get like 6 years updates.

I’ve been upgrading my iPhone every year since 2015. But now, my iPhone 11 Pro Max is so good, I’m pondering on keeping it and just pass it down to my daughters in a few years. I’m on the Apple upgrade program and I’m considering staying out in 2020 just because the 11 Pro Max has been just that good battery wise. No complaints from me at all. The only reason for me to upgrade to the 12 Pro Max would be the new design. But even then, Apple will run this design for at least 3 years into 2023, so there’s no need to jump right now to upgrade.

The 11 pro was my first iPhone I’ve gotten. I was using the note 9 since 2018 and the note 10 came out and it had a new os my note 9 still wasn’t getting months later so I briefly got the note 10 I thought I’d get the smaller one because I decided I wanted a more pocketable phone. Oh man was I disappointed... I waited for weeks for it to get here and day 1 I had buyers remorse... there was no pressure sensitive home button so I either had to double tap the screen(which wouldn’t always register) or press the home button now on the left side of the screen. My sister(who I gave my note 9 to) decided, even after coming from an iphone SE(1st gen) that she did not like androids after only a couple days with it. That got me thinking... why didn’t she like it? I loved the note 9... well when her iPhone 11 came I looked at it and I immediately decided I needed an iPhone. It was just something about the smoothness of the os that really got me. So even though I was sceptical about Face ID being as good as fingerprint, I decided to return the note 10, used the note 9 for the time being, and bought the iPhone 11 Pro (I wanted a small phone and an Ike’s screen, plus it came in green and green if my favorite color) and, when I got it... I was absolutely mesmerized. By everything. The attention to detail is impeccable. I thought it was just the “honeymoon faze” I get with every new tech product but that feeling just stayed there and is still there to this day. Face ID is something I originally thought to be a downside, now, I will not buy a phone without it. You don’t even have to think about it you literally just look at your phone! And, short of it being on a table with you badly being able to look at the screen, it works literally every time. Even if I’m in bed with my face half covered by the pillow. The only downside is, nowadays with the masks, but those days will be over eventually so it’s worth it. Now I feel like this is a phone I can truly rely on and will have for years to come. Without feeling left out because of a new phone having.a superior os due to being outdated hardware. Or that, the company who made it, doesn’t want me to use it anymore, because they aren’t profiting off of me.

Would like to know if updating from a iPhone X would be worth it this year? Guess we’ll find out tomorrow. I love the 5.8” form factor and it still performs remarkably well. My only concerns now are the battery is pretty much shot after 3 years, I have to charge it multiple times a day. I’m also noticing a bit of keyboard lag on iOS 14. I’ll swipe a word and notice it takes a bit of time for it to appear on screen and often times it’s wrong (I’ve noticed a lot actually typing this comment out). But I have to say the rumours of the 2021 iPhone sound a lot more compelling than the iPhone 12 leaks.

I upgraded from an iPhone X to an 11 pro about 2 months ago and a week in I knew i had just made a $1500 mistake. The 11 pro although had great battery life and better cameras then my X, really wasn’t that much of an improvement. When i got my X i felt excited, but when i used the 11 pro i felt a sense of sadness that i wasted $1500 on a phone that i really didnt need. Unfortunately the store i bought it from had no returns, so i ended up selling it for $1400. Even the 12 leaks don’t seem to be that great fr me to consider upgrading, phones last so long this year. I’d say an 11 pro is worth it if you buy it in a few months for a good price as the 12 wont be much better, other then the squared design and maybe 5g if your lucky to have it in your area. But even if it is in your area, I’d imagine the plans are gon a be expensive as hell. Even though i didnt find the 11 pro exciting, if your paying much under retail its a great phone, but sadly i paid a high price.

Oh wow.. my battery health going down much slower than yours.. even though I have an XR that I bought longer ago. I never fast charge the phone I suppose.. so, it’s good to see the benefits firsthand

Great opinion/review/observation, my experience matches and I'd be happy staying with the 11, it's been a wonderful phone. On the fence, but will be upgrading to the 12 Pro Max for the Dolby-Vision, Larger Camera Sensor, Faster Chip, 5x-Zoom, 6GB-Ram, Wireless Charging with improved Battery Management, Lidar, Deep-Fusion & Night-Mode improvements. Anyone else? Or who's staying with the 11 as I was almost tempted to do?

I’ve always wanted to see (at least possibly in wallpapers) the ability to see the holographic effect on other apps or something, like when you tilt your phone when you are looking at the Apple Cash card in the wallet app...is that weird?😅
@Johnnygga4 жыл бұрын
You mean 3D? Yeah, I think that’s what’s coming next. Nobody will care about folding phones, watch. Imagine iOS in 3D with depth and the Face ID system tracks your eyes and face so the 3D effect always works. You tilt your phone and the your cards slide out in the wallet app!

I also have the Pro Max and that battery is very impressive. From all the leaks and rumors about the 12, there are not enough changes to make me switch. So, I’ll probably will be keeping my 11 Pro Max for one more year. Unless Apple surprises us tomorrow.

IPhones are clearly way ahead in processor power and long term software support. Other brands are behind but improving. It's reaching the point where battery longevity is the critical factor for long term phone use, and not any performance issue. Maybe we should just plan a battery change after a few years, instead of planning to upgrade to an entirely new phone? Like buying new replacement tires on a car when they wear out, instead of buying a new car?

I purchased my 11 Pro Max in February and have been using it for ~230 days. The battery charge cycle is around 145 and I still have 100% battery health. How did I do it? Never used wireless charging, put the phone between two thicc thermal gels you’d find in your freezer when charging so it could dissipate the heat, and almost never used it while charging. Seems like I have a million-mile battery. typo

I’m rocking the iPhone 11 and not planning to replace it 😎 But,seriously I got so emotionally attached to this phone I love it too much 😂 I switched from the android world to Apple’s world for the first time ( first with iPad mini5 and then the iPhone 11) ,and I did it bc 1st I was sick and tired from bad chipsets aging fast,slow downs and lags after just half of a year usage ,2nd them becoming actually more expensive while offering less value in materials ( no ty plastic ),chipsets and longevity. And I’ve never been happier with a phone ! Amazing price to value,amazing os,amazing chipset,awesome looks. Only people who have never touched nor seen an iPhone 11 irl can speak ill of it. It was the best value phone for 2019/2020 and will keep going with that superior bionic A13. My battery is at 100% health, I do try to avoid wireless charging though as I notice it heats the phone up a bit, so using that one not so regular for charging ,only if I’m too lazy. I mostly charge it with the 12W of my iPad. Kinda super hyped about the new iPhones 12 ,but I really love my 11 too much and would feel like betrayal to replace it without need 😂 ,plus I can invest those money for an apple silicon MacBook and get even deeper in the ecosystem 😎

It’s nice to hear good things about the 11 Pro because channels like Max Tech are saying to ignore it but it’s like only last years flagship, how can it be irrelevant already!? Plus I really like the form factor; a bit smaller than the 12 but bigger than the 12 mini. Better screen than the 12 too! As with most things though it comes down to price, not all of us have the luxury of buying the latest iPhone so a used 11 Pro for around £550 would be 👌🏻

Still have an 8plus, and horrible to no service in my area due to trees i guess.. will the 12 have better reception due to the antennas ?
@Johnnygga4 жыл бұрын
Possibly. When the XS / XS Max came out and 11 Pro phones, they had updated antennas (MIMO 4x4) Google it. Gigabit LTE and it holds on to weaker receptions a little better. But I can’t say for certain it will 100% work in your case.

Idk if this is the best place to ask this but I'll try anyway. I don't know if I should get an 11 Pro soon, let me explain (and I apologize for my english). Months ago I changed my iPhone (7 Plus) for a Galaxy S10+ and I love it, it's the best phone I've ever had, I love the battery life, I love the screen size, I love how light it is for the power it offers but uuhhhm... Android, I gave it an opportunity but I just don't really like it, I'm not gonna die if I keep having it as my OS but you got me. I have a Macbook pro and recently for my birthday my parents gave an iPad Pro and Jesus it is the best thing that could happen to my workflow, moving files from one device to another feels so natural, studying and working is just so easy now, I can start one project on my laptop and continue it in my iPad when I need to handwrite something and then my phone feels so disconnected. Before I had to email me files to move them between my phone and my lap, and so on and now I just barely use my cellphone. Do u think I should change it for an 11 pro? Considering the things that I like from my actual phone. I definitely can live like this but I wish that my phone did everything easier.
@Johnnygga4 жыл бұрын
If you love your iPad you’re going to love your iPhone even more-it’s a pocketable iPad! Especially if you get the Max versions of these phones-the big OLED screens are amazing. I came from an 8 Plus to a XS Max and holy crap what a jump in just about everything.
