Everything is paired with the motherboard. If you replace anything, there appears to be software level "hardware errors". Things stop working, but some bugs in the software allows them to work in certain areas. E.G, a camera replacement causes the camera to "freeze" and "not work". Except in panorama mode, it works in the little view-finder, but not in the main window. And also if you swap to video mode, swap the camera between zoom and no zoom, and back to picture mode.

Would be interesting to see the inside of a non American unit because there is no mm-wave receiver on it...

I've read your written teardown and you said motherboards are the same except serial numbers. I'm very curious what would happen if you put 12 pro into 12 or vice versa.

You guys should reassemble it and rethink about the reparability scale, when reassembled, the cameras are malfunctioning, face id no longer works, the battery health infos are no longer available, etc.

Nice. Thanks for sharing. The phone actually looks fairly easy to work with from what you guys showed. I like it!

It has a score of 6 for apple certified repair shops though. Even the camera module is now paired and can not be replaced. It will not properly work when done.

If you swap the logic board from another iPhone 12 pro it will not turn on without the charge cable and the cameras don’t work.

We can’t swap logic boards or cameras iPhone 12 is not repairable as u think

It needs more heat duo to the pronounced ceramic shield which is a heat protector to some extent.

Did you thought about making a teardown of the pinephone ? That would be great.

This ends people selling repaired iphone on ebay as "mint condition".

no talk about software paired components that are impossible to replace??
@detroxx567843 жыл бұрын
Watch Hugh Jeffrey's video on it. The phone's hardware may be modular, but the software is not. You cannot replace components such as the cameras.

However another factor that may compromise repairability is that the camera modules, Face ID sensors, display and battery are all paired to the phone’s logic board so if the battery is changed by a third party it will disable the battery health menu and also may throttle down the performance of the phone as if it’s an old battery! That’s however unless the third party repair shop can pair the new battery to the phone’s logic board! :)

I heard that the battery, LCD and all cameras are linked with the motherboard then how this is so much repairable if you cant change any component
