So I watched your video it helped me make a easy job of replacing my charge flex. But after repair gave phone to setup for my daughter and the microphone for Siri / voice memo / and video recordings doesn’t seem to work. Do you know if the microphones on the charge flex the ones used for these features.

@silent3059 not off the top of my head. Something you can try is swapping back the old part and testing the mics. If the old part works it means your new part (at least the mic) is bad

Quick question I have iPhone 13 it had 3rd party screen on it and the original proximity sensor on it was error about the display saying not genuine part put an original apple screen on and the original proximity sensor on and error msg went away for the screen, but I managed to get bit of water in the phone now getting Face ID error and display error and the proximity sensor isn’t working now question is if I replace the proximity sensor will the errors go away ? Or is the sensor coded? Thanks 😃

If water is the culprit I doubt it On older models Face ID was paired to that flex. But for some reason apple did away with that. And now the only thing that’s paired to that flex is True Tone.

So I have managed to fix Face ID behind the camera and Face ID there’s 2 gold looking plates I noticed that when putting the camera back on they kept moving so I used a bit of glue to stop them moving then the error msg went away about Face ID but still wasn’t working would say Face ID not available try again later so I completely wiped the phone and installed 17.5 and behold Face ID is working :D

The 13 series is the first model that changing the front mic als prox sensor flex doesn’t result in loss of Face ID functionality

At the moment no. Apparently True Tone is paired to the screen and the front mic/ALS/proximity flex.

From what I can see there aren’t any true tone programmers on the market for the 13 series 😔

Note that this replacement will most likely (but not guaranteed) fix your boot-loop issue. My phone suddenly would not turn on anymore and I had absolutely not damaged it (no water or dropping). I researched a lot and found out that if this sensor malfunctions, it can cause the phone to not turn on except only when charging and even then just boot looping. I opened the phone myself (because apple charges criminal fees for a phone that's 1 year and 2 months old...) and unplugged this sensor's flex. It worked again without issue... Now I am waiting for this spare part to arrive at my home and then I will replace it, hoping that my issues are over.

This is a common issue dating back several models. When a device doesn’t boot this is my go to while diagnosing. At least on the 13s you don’t lose Face ID functionality like you would on the X/Xs/11/12 series

@@repaironwheels Yeah, I can count myself lucky that I have at least that going for me... I saw in a related video of the channel 'iPhone Service Malaysia' that this issue started occurring with the X model. Can't believe that this is still happening. Like I said, I have not damaged the phone in any way. It's absurd to assume a >$1000 phone might suddenly die after a year and a few days and that we'd have to shoulder all the costs of fixing it. Wish I was still living in the EU where I'd at least have another year of warranty. The weird thing is that yesterday I opened the device (after learning that this part might be the cause of the boot problem), unplugged the flex cable, successfully booted the device, plugged the cable back in (of course, dealing appropriately with the battery during this process) and the phone worked as normal. No idea why unplugging and plugging 'solved' the issue. I say 'solved', because today it suddenly died again while in my pocket and I faced the same issues... Anyways, seeing your video encouraged me to order the part and do my own repairs. Hope that will be a more permanent fix for my issue. I’m not exactly sure how Face ID operates on the iPhone 13 Line up, but if were to purchase a used 13 pro screen will Face ID still work or will it be lost because the used screen is encrypted to another phone’s mobo?

Replacing the screen on any iphone won’t result in loss of Face ID. For a very brief time after the 13 was launched, Apple did exactly the opposite but back tracked. The worst you’ll get is an ‘unknown’ part message

@@repaironwheels gotcha. yeah that brief moment where apple was disabling Face ID when replacing a 13 screen on ios 15.0-15.1 had me kinda confused; had me thinking they somehow managed to get face ID tied into screens along with the normal face ID components. I think I was also confused due to one of the replies you had to a comment on this video. But ok. I just wanted to know because my brother's phone supposedly got "water damage" on his 13 pro and the screen wont turn on but the phone does; wanted to know that if I were to buy a used screen off ebay if Face ID would stil be functional. Also is there any way to test a screen using an external power supply? Trying to figure out if its the logic board's ability to power the display that has gone bad or if its just the screen. Price of these screens are so expensive, so just trying to rule things out..

@OneStopShopGarage replacing the screen won’t be the reason Face ID doesn’t work. Screen tester exist but it’s a bit impractical for a one time repair

You wouldn’t lose anything. If you replace the screen you need to transfer True Tone data or else that gets lost

As of this comment the only way I know how is by using apples self service program. Or transferring the chips from one screen to another. Or waiting until a true tone programmer is released

So i was able to swap mine but no true tone now. Do you know how to get true tone back? My issue was that i ripped my sensor flex completely off 😢. I bought a programmer but wouldnt it be useless if the flex is completely torn off? Hope you can answer this

from my understanding true tone functionality is attached to the screen and an ic on the screen and has nothing to do with the proximity flex

hello, when you change the proximity sensor, you lose the automatic brightness, that happened to me with my iphone, I changed the sensor and it lost the automatic brightness, everything else works.

As long as the battery is disconnected prior to disconnecting flex cables i see no issue. Just turning off a phone doesn’t really do anything. As long as the battery is connected to the board, the board has a current running through it. Severing that connection is what really matters
