This is the video we all need! I feel like the Pixel had better image quality although it seems the Pixel smoothed out aspects of the video like facial features where the iPhone didn't. also, iPhone seems to have a one up on the Pixel on image stabilization at night. If OS didn't factor in, it would be a toss-up for me. I think it all comes down to what you prefer. I would chose the Pixel and save the 100.00 and stay with android, but that is just an opinion.

Nice review! Many thanks that you compared photos at their telephoto lenses (3x and 4x) and not both at 3x as other reviewers did. Note that in portrait mode 1x in pixel is actually 1.5x zoom, and thus one can compare both phones at actual zoom 1.5x. For this reason, portrait 2x on pixel makes no sense since it corresponds to actual zoom 3x.

The flickering in the trees/clouds is weird on the Pixel, you can see it on your forehead sometimes on the selfie camera too, I think it's HDR net trying to apply the HDR effect and struggling to keep up a bit.

By the way in video in both phones the sky was flickering when running although it was more apparent on the Pixel cause it tries to retain more cloud detail so the white grey flickering looks more aggressive. The Pixel 7 will probably improve this and hopefully implement some night sight features into video same way they implemented HDR+ using HDRnet.

Lots of work was put into this. The pixel only problem is that the brightness on photos can be tuned down a bit more than necessary. Their photos can be clear and they can handle shadows very well by exposing the dark spots but pictures are never bright enough except on a very sunny day

Actually, the dynamic range on the front camera of iphones is still pretty bad, especially in videos at 4k60fps. Quite surprising that Pixel managed to not blow out skies in selfie videos even when the iphone did. *As usual, Pixel takes better overall photos and iPhones take better overall videos.* Cheers.

I dont think I would like to wait 3-4 minutes to take a night time picture which is where Pixel images are better. The normal night images are better than Pixel's however, iPhone needs to have an astrophotography mode. I hope it comes with the iOS 17 release.

The Apple seems to really mess up the colours. Your blue shirt consistantly shows up as an aqua marine colour on Apple. Probably Apple's algorithum warming up the photo.

You had the wrong settings on the pixel 6 pro video. It doesn't shake like that compared to the iPhone, they actually have very similar stabilisation on that lens (unless you have used one of the other 4 settings).

There were instances where the Pixel out performed the iPhone in video. Not a whole lot, but there were some wins. Whether better color rendering or a clarity comparison, definitely did. It seems like "everyone" is sticking to the whole "better video" script. I mean, as a whole, yes, iPhones are better and a more reliable video shooter. But the Pixel is no slouch, esp in the right lighting. In regards to photos, there's another pink elephant in the room: this year's iphone takes some weird shots, man. And has color rendering and focusing issues. There's this plastic, sort of fish eye effect going on, too. Some examples were in your video and some weren't. Namely, I didn't see the plastic-y issue. All in all, tho, good job! 👍

The video on the Pixel is borderline revolting. It stutters and drops frames - especially when switching sensors. Not to mention the blotchy crushed black in full daylight. They are year behind Samsung, and even further behind iPhone in video.
