For me, that island is in the way when you watch the video. And since it's so low I saw in one video that was funny that with facetime that bar comes across his friend's forehead which he said was funny. I think better is to do what Samsung does if there is the app you want to open right away and make it into a floating bubble style. You can move to any place you want. I use it all the time and love it. For phone calls for Galaxy, you can choose a couple ways. A small view or medium size view pops up or like iPhone covers the full screen when a call comes in. So Galaxy you don't need that island.

Dynamic Island is actually a cool concept but as you stated it's limited. Also, what you didn't cover about it, is it looks horrible when outdoors. As far as Apple's version of an always on display, lot of people hate it and I agree. The fact that the screen only dims and actually doesn't completely goes black is annoying. I would constantly think that I had a notification or a reason to have to interact with my phone. Overall, I don't see a real reason to upgrade to this phone.
@eumenkim2 жыл бұрын
LG basically did Dynamic Island on their V10 many many years ago. My biggest issue with both is that they are at the top of the screen. I understand that Apple is using it to justify the hole-punch as well as add some "coolness" to it with the style, but a practical move would be to have it at the bottom right, I think that would make a "dynamic" change for many users. I think Samsung did it best so far with the Edge Panel, but I think that could be made better with more interactivity options and if it was made more prominent like Apple has with Dynamic Island.

Nice video. Neither like the dynamic island nor Apple's AOD. Instead of reducing the notch for full display content the new solution is even more disturbing placed within display instead border only. To permanently tap (fingerprints) on cam and sensors is downgrade stupid. Furthermore to place even more controls at the very top of the display of nowadays big phones isn't user friendly at all. So Apple wasn't able to shrink the notch so they invented some gimmicks. It may look interesting but that will wear off. AOD costs battery time so the less pixels / leds have to be turned on the better. So a full screen AOD even with background pic IMO is pure nonsense, especially if you can't dim it down enough at night.

@andyH_England2 жыл бұрын
My Pixel 6 Pro basic AOD loses 1% per hour. The 14 Pro Max loses 0.5% an hour yet displays more. I mean if you are complaining about the iPhone you should be even more upset with the Pixel (and probably Samsung). Apple uses a co-processor for the display that means it sips battery. This is a very clever implementation that sadly Android fans do not understand, or simply just cannot accept Apple did it better? As for the Dynamic Island, two weeks in and it is pretty great. Give it two months and we will see third party apps use it and optimise to it.
@1993rufus2 жыл бұрын
@@andyH_England im not complaining about batter life, its the implementation and yes, its just a dim lock screen while ours actually looks different when AOD is on. Apples just looks like its in the timeout phase, that's not better, on Android, we can have the same effect if we dim the display and disable timeout, so yeah, we have what Apple offers but we have a better version of it at the same time. As for dynamic Island, thats just stupid. Android developers already made an exact version of it 1 or 2 days after the unveiling which comes to show, it's not a matter of Android can't handle, its a matter of it's useless since we already have other forms of it. But hey, you do you and just make sure to buy the $25 Apple cloth so you can clean the camera every 2 minutes!! 😂😂😂😂

There’s cognitive dissonance about the supposed improvement over the ‘notch’ with Dynamic Island. This is a shrewd cop-out by Apple… So, now we have this capsule like blob further down the screen making it far more intrusive than the notch. But, we are supposed to believe it’s an improvement because it appears to stretch in a novel way, with supposed functionality that offers features that could be done in far better ways. Yet, at no point, does the intrusive blob go away and is always imposing itself further down the screen more than the notch ever has. You can see my point clearly in the side by side display of the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro. If nobody knew, most would assume the old notch as the supposed improvement as it sits less intrusive, closer to the edge of screen. This is one of Apple’s more obvious deceptions ever! And as for the ‘Dynamic Island?’- Well, perhaps next time Apple will consult design technicians who possess something above a kindergarten mentality. I had fully intended to purchase the 14 pro…. Hopefully something more effective and subtle will come with iPhone 15 Pro. Needless to say, I won’t be upgrading.

The pill is Apple trying to find a solution for a problem it created, and it's just, at its core, another notch. It's a gimmick to me. I really wish Apple would get on board with split-screen on, especially on a 6.1 inch screen. There is no reason, in 2022, that the Pro or Pro Max should be a slightly larger rendering of a homescreen from 2007.

My theory on why the pill is the way it is and why dynamic island exists : Apple is going to put a second tiny screen replacing the pill. A screen that moves due to an electric motor. To cover up the camera, face id components. This'll be a first for apple but hey at least they'll be able say they're doing it the "apple" way. And they won't take the "camera behind the screen" approach like how samsung and zte are doing today because the selfie photo samples that have came out of that is garbage quality. Apple just wont settle that. With the moving screen (that only requires a tiny area to shift to reveal or cover up the camera stuff, you can easily access selfie camera because nobody needs the selfie camera 24 7 365. The only problem then will become the Face Id as it constantly needs to be there to unlock the phone. They could substitute that with Touch id + that is an ultrasonic inscreen fingerprint sensor
@1993rufus2 жыл бұрын
That design is such a hideous thing! Idk why people think that is innovation! Id take a UD fingerprint scanner and small cut out over that disgusting mess ANY day!! And that is NOT an AOD, that's a dim lock screen. Samsung's AOD is 100% customizable AND has auto dim/brightness depending on the environment!
