Apple is going to support RCS by this fall... took them long enough. Now Android users will be able to see typing notifications, react to messages, video txt quality being good, etc. It makes the switch from Android to Apple less tempting for me now

Me too. I left Apple because of the cable. No matter where you bought one from, they would always fail - unless it was an Apple cable. They lost my custom to Samsung for 13 years because of that decision. Now I have the 15 pro max with USB-C so I don't need to buy an extortionately priced Apple cable ever again.

Also android (S22+) and Macbook user. There is an android app called File Manager + that is amazing and powerful. I can easily connect my Android S22+ to my MBP, my NAS and even any Windows computer on my home network. I can easily navigate the file structures locally or on the other device in either direction and its very fast. If you are still on android, give it a try. I went from a iPhone 12 Mini to a 14 Pro and I was almost shocked by the increase in weight between the two devices. I didn’t care a lot about additional battery life because I’m almost always near a power source, I keep a MagSafe 10,000 battery pack in my carry bag. I do love having a 3X camera though, that has come in handy for me a few times and sometimes the weight comes in handy when you’re wearing heavy winter clothes. Sometimes it was hard to find my 12 Mini in my winter clothes

I do think Apple design is better and with the restrictive hardware/software controls they have, they can make improvements that is not as easy on Android. The entire eco system is interesting, but two major drawbacks for me are 1) application limitations on laptops and desktops and 2) the cost of the devices are higher for equivalent specs with almost no upgradability. To each their own. What works for one may not work for another.

I was so tempted to go with a Samsung this year and then I watched videos with several content creators where every Samsung they had started having their batteries blow up even though the phones were powered down and in temperature-controlled space and none of the other brands in that space had the same problem. One content creator said that it was literally every phone over a few years old. One had it happen with a two-year-old barely used phone. Unless you are someone who changes phones yearly, that knocks Samsung off my list.

But I don’t get it, I can also swipe down on literally any screen on my iPhone or iPad to see my notifications…
@jerry4012
@jerry4012 Жыл бұрын
Notifications on Android are like the iMessage of the iPhone. They really need to just completely overhaul the notification center on iOS and more importantly make custom gestures a thing. On Android, swiping down anywhere on my home screen opens my notification drawer, and I can swipe notifications left or right to dismiss them or easily clear all. The best part is the notifications don't disappear. On iOS if you don't pay attention to app badges you'll miss notifications all the time.

People often says that is “hard” to get adapted to the gestures or how the app works but tbh even when i’m using it one handed is just that responsive and just muscle memory most of the time once you get the feel of it most ppl love it and thats why most ppl that gets an iphone refuses to go back to android, but when you change straight away then it CAN be difficult to get used to it just not that much 🙏

I am pleased to have encountered this video. I have been a long-time user of Android devices; however, I am now earnestly considering transitioning from my Samsung S10+ to an iPhone 15 Pro Max. While a high-quality camera is of great importance to me, one of the compelling factors for my interest lies in Apple's fitness ecosystem and (hopefully) USB-C. Additionally, I intend to acquire the latest Apple Watch to complement my new phone. Presently, the only Apple products I possess are an older iPad Mini 4 and the recently released iPad Mini 6.

I recently made the switch it's not worth it. At least for me customization is really important and iPhones are so limited but SO limited when it comes to that. I find it funny when you look up how to personalize iPhone home screen is basically add widgets and change the wallpaper. Another aspect I don't like about iPhone is that there is no back button or easy gesture. The system goes more smoothly than my older phone but also my android phone costed me $300. I also miss the quick charge, even though I have more problems with the battery life for now, I have seen that many Iphone 14s eventually get battery life problems. So in my opinion is not worth to switch but if you going to be a slave of their ecosystem, then you should probably get it.

Thanks for balanced comment. I have been life long android user and have used iPhone 6, 6s and 8 in past for short times. Currently I have the money and want to buy 15 pro max or s24 ultra. The only thing is pushes me towards iPhone pro max is photos and video quality that is unmatched. But I can not compromise on so many features that android and especially Samsung OneUI provices. Here are several that are completely missing on iOS. So iOS is the pain point for me. - call recording (in my local property related work it is so much important) - notification management is so well on Android - changing ringtones; iOS might not allow me to put on my Godfather/GameOfThrones/HarryPotter theme music - switching files easily to Windows OS machines. Here in India apart from my software engineering world hardly anyone uses Macbooks and hence we need easy access to file transfer - multiple apps on split screen or in their windowed manner (this is a huge thing and I have lot of such utility in daily life) But I also want great video capturing and photo capturing that I craved since I was 12 Years old. So I'm super confused need someone's help haha

You stated many valid reasons why you should stick with Android. I'm in the same boat and as much as I'd love to try an iPhone there will be several limitations like transfering files between my phone and Windows PC. Compressing files into a zip file especially when needing to send an email with large files for work. Just a lot of window based programs there will be limitations with apple and apparently car play is a lot worse than android auto. And no notification bar. List goes on. If you already have a MacBook, iPad, etc it would be different but not being part of that ecosystem will be a hard transition I feel and a lot of sacrifices to accomodate it.

I keep coming to the same conclusion unfortunately. I say unfortunately because I love the diversity of Android and having so many choices in camera optics, for example, or the rest. But in the end, I always go back to the iPhone for two reasons: first, iOS, which I find incredible to use. Also, because I am disabled, I need voice commands since it is much faster to speak than to write by hand, and much less tiring to talk to write rather than to write by hand. Unfortunately, I can never get voice commands to work on any Android phone except the Pixels. However, I found unfortunately for the pro in my case that the photo and video quality was not at all at the level of the iPhone, so I preferred to keep my 15 Pro Max, not to mention iOS, which for me is unbeatable in terms of pleasantness and consistency. I would love for the Pixel 9 Pro XL to surpass the iPhone in terms of camera; it would allow me to switch back to Android and have even better voice commands, but I find it hard to believe. Google certainly has the financial means to be on the same level as Apple, or even surpass them, but it seems that it's not in their objectives, or maybe it's too complicated for them, but I doubt it; they are surrounded by some of the best in the world on their teams. I feel that the 16 Pro Max will probably be a better phone in every way compared to the Pixel 9, and I find that a shame. It is a shame because monopoly is never good for consumers and the more diversity that matches the best standards, the better it is.

I’m was an Android user since 2010, starting with an HTC Magic, and ending with a Galaxy S23. I have used practically all Android Flavors from all major manufacturers. Three weeks ago I changed my Galaxy S23 to an iPhone 15, just by boredom, and my expert is pretty good overall. But I will tell you the most disrupting things I had encountered: - The lack of a Universal Back Button (All apps open new windows with a Back virtual button on the top left corner, but it’s not consistent, some windows has this button on the top right corner, you can close others by swiping down, and almost all apps let you swipe from the left edge to the right). - The Keyboard. It doesn’t have a Number row, and all the special characters are hidden under a “123” button on the bottom left corner, including the dot and the comma. This was the most painful change, It took me almost three weeks to get to the same typing speed I had on any android phone, but you get used to it. - There’s no advanced clipboard with history or something similar. - Selecting text and moving the cursor to edit works differently. - In general, iOS is slower than Android, and im not talking about performance, but productivity. All animations are pretty slow, and some apps only register inputs when the animation has ended. If you are a power user, sometimes you could feel like you’re outrunning the phone. - There’s no real multitasking, like dividing the screen or floating windows. Aside from that, all the experience is pretty enjoyable. I have encountered little to no bugs in any app on the iPhone. Comparing it to Android, there was never one day that I didn’t encountered one bug at least: From Chrome refusing to search or redirect to a Webpage until I closed the tab, to Facebook and other Social media apps playing audio of videos from other post in the background, UI elements broken because I use bigger fonts, among others. iOS feels more stable, it’s always ready to do any task without any kind of stutter, it just works, and all apps have a quality baseline that exceeds almost any app on Android. All apps feels, looks and works almost the same. Photos, Videos and Audios taken from any app has better quality overall, including Calls and Videocalls (WhatsApp and Messenger).

Saying that there even is an android ecosystem is just wrong. It’s a puzzle of services. Being able to start a message or email on your phone and just continue on your Mac or copy/paste anything over is almost magic. A tip for the odd android friend or colleague. I was thinking it may be easier to just get an s23 ultra with a controller and just use the Samsung for everything. I’m pretty invested in the Apple ecosystem so it’s unlikely that I’ll do that. It would be nice though.

The only reason I'm on this video is I'm considering the switch mainly due to Siri.. The VA doesn't miss a beat. It somehow it understands jibberish

Interesting. Most prefer Google assistant over Siri. However, Siri has gotten better lately. Suppose to be even better in iOS 17

Okay. 1. Data transition is easy. Is this really a point you can highlight because the other way around it's just as easy or even easier to switch to a new android phone. 2. Magsafe. Magsafe is on android devices as well so ...? Nice highlight for apple lol? 3. Design. This comes really down to personal preference. And good job adding critique at the end of this one but not even highlighting this or adding it to the points you like with android. 4. I don't know what you were doing on your android phone, but you can use dictation just as good on android, but tbh I never ever heard someone say that Siri is good or better then ANY other voice assistant lol. And after that you blame that you're so used to the Android ecosystem. You are not even informing yourself on new things but you had to when switching to Apple. Good job. You just said yourself that it's your fault for not using features on android, because you did even know they where there. And yeah you're right, it's good to break up habits, but you can do it just as good when not switching to an Apple device or even another Android phone. 5. FaceTime. I don't know if it just me all my group of friends, but have you ever here of WhatsApp? It actually has a FaceTime pardon. And I never had a friend with an apple device that said: I want to send you photos and videos and call you via FaceTime so Bad but I can do it because you're using Android. 6. Air drop. Yes, I actually think it is you. Because you can do just as well with Google photos or a Google Drive or nearby share or airdroid or use one of hundreds different apps in the Play Store that can do this. 7. Yes the iPhone camera is pretty good. But on Android phones there are just as good cameras. But if you compare an 5 year old Phone to a new phone of course, the new Phone is better right? Especially that the last years of Smartphone development leans heavily on cameras. And if you would've informed you just a little bit, you would know that "triple camera system" has the same meaning as "2000 Watt speakers". It's just marketing .So what's even the point.. 8. This is again personal preference. Android phones can feel just as Premium as iPhones, especially the phones with a matt Glass back plate. But i guess you didn't even new because you just did not inform yourself about things that you like and don't like on your phone or in general about phones. 1. USB c is on the iPhone15 now as well so the critique is partly unjustified. But because when you bought yours it wasn't, so its allright. Just all the older phones that sell just under the initial retail price are having this problem. 2. I've gotta say that I heard more people spoke more positive about apple car play than the other way around, but I've also heard, when you use wireless car play the battery drains insane quick, not so on android. Conclusion: Cool for you that you've switched and are happy and there's nothing wrong with it. But what is wrong, is your uninformed opinion. So many things you're saying and declaring as things you like on apple. You NEEDED to change all your habits and thus you needed to inform yourself about iOS and new apps. As a result you found so many things that you like, but you probably could've liked them just as well on android if you would've known they exist. You're more or less selling the iPhone for features that have been on android for ever and that's wrong. Please inform yourself properly when making informative videos. Otherwise you're just misleading other uninformed people as well. I was hoping for good reasons to switch to Apple because I want to understand the other side, and what's keeping people to stick so harshly to Apple and pay the premium prices.

My main reason for switching was FaceTime - yes, I use WhatsApp, but literally NONE of my friends and family do. They’re all on iPhone. I’m fully aware that I could’ve switched my habits to the latest Android model, but I wanted an entire OS change instead. Now on the iPhone 15 and very happy with it. But in a few years, I can see myself going back to Android just to change it up again.

Very good video. I did the change over also after many years with Android. Have 15 Pro. And got watch 9. Highly recommend this watch. Even tells me when I am hearing more than 90 decibels of sound. Important for your hearing health. Love the form factor of phone. Android insists on having a big brick.

Great video! I, too, have been always been an Android user. Since buying a G1 16 years ago I've been a rabid Android fanboy. I've annually bought the latest-greatest Android phone and enjoyed their superior tech and cutting edge software... until last night. Last night, disgusted with Google's pro-tyranny politics and especially with my Samsung Zfold's unblockable spam, I ordered an iPhone.

Nice video. Thanks! One thing I don't like about iPhones (I already tried 2 times to like the iPhone) - the way how some of the apps look. For example iMessage. The UI is... dated? UX is nothing close to Samsung Messages. In Samsung Messages I have minor improvements which do not bloat the UI, but help a lot for example I can scroll my big SMS list having the date preview. It's a very convenient feature. And it's especially annoying that I can't change the default text application on iPhone (on Android I was using Signal as default, but then Signal dropped SMS support so I switched to Samsung Messages). PS. You can't migrate Signal database from Android to iPhone too - yet another issue. Grr....

Steve Jobs said the expensive price of products will lose user. IPHONE 15 PRO 1TB selling HKD $12799. It's stop me transfer from 14 pro max. I already paid HKD$12098 ($10199+APPLE CARE $1899). Apple is too high the cost for upgrading. I already switch from MacBook pro to Lenovo notebook. It works even better than the MacBook pro a lot more. No overheating issues anymore, No expensive repairing cost with price cut down to 1/3

Your S10 also had all those cameras modes, and more, but it's doesn't look like you explored them much I think it's because of the design: the iPhone camera app is quite easy to find modes etc whereas on Android you often need to go into the settings menu and it changes depending on what camera mode you are using. And so many people are unaware of all the modes and features on their Android phone

I've been contemplating going over to apple again to try it out again and since most of my family uses iPhone it makes contacting much easier but, I use Windows PC and won't change from there to Mac or anything like it. I'm also intrigued by the vision pro. But I am afraid to lose so many ease of use features that Android phones have like a clipboard for my keyboard and my keyboard just remembering email addresses, and code addresses that I've typed in before. Also things like google key board and its ability to translate what ever i type in English to Spanish.

Nice video. Butt I have a question. When you talked about carplay/Android auto are you sure you didn't mean the reverse? I was an Android user for 13 years. I now have the 14pro max. And one of the things that bugged me about Android was Android auto. No matter which phone I had it was always hit or miss. Very glitchy. And as far as I know split screen had been available on carplay fort years now. My wife switched to an iphone from Android when the 13 came out and she was easily able to split screen carplay.
