I replaced my screen and in doing so I ripped cable on proximity sensor. Rookie mistake I know. Question is I replaced with new one and face id although it works doesn’t recognize face only says move closer. I’ve seen videos where for instance on Iphone 14 pro you have to solder the chip over to new one. What do I need to do to get fave Id to work again?

Send it off to a micro solderer. They're paired with the logic board. Some of the techs can run jumpers/repair the flex. Or in some cases, transfer the dot projector etc over to another known good flex cable and reprogramme. 100% not a DIY fix with basic tools.

So it’s ok to change it without unplugging the battery?

I mean it's not recommended lol taking the back off is a pain to do and risky. If you can, just make sure the phone is powered off when switching the screen. Also make sure when you plug in the cables that you're doing it correctly, as smashing the cable can cause damage and possibly cause a short on the board

You can change the screen without turning it off. I have done it so much, sort of like changing a lightbulb with the light switch on. Sometimes the display is damaged to a point where it doesn’t allow for the phone to be powered off. Make sure you’re grounded and just be precise with your connectors.
