Does log video need to be converted to rec 709 before applying your luts?

@@simoosimoo1 A lut works on every kind of video or camera. It just might show it differently (contrast, saturation, etc). These are more aligned with Apple Log format, which only exist on 15 pro

Love the colors from the LUT But you can see how the iPhone struggles with low light of a rainy day- similarly to a GoPro

Agreed. Also tho, the amount of noise reduction the iPhone applies in LOG is far less than the standard format, and i didn't compensate by applying any in post. But you are right. It's fairly noisy. I was trying to keep 180 degree shutter while it was raining and there were a few shots I under exposed by mistake

For those who don't' have the budget, I'd say yes. But there's still a pile of noise in the shadows in this footage in particular so there are limitations to shooting in this manner. So there will still be creators who want a dedicated camera.
