Only upgrade to the 15 pro/pro max if you are coming from an iPhone older than the 14 pro. If your budget is only for the normal 15, don’t buy it. Get the 14 pro it’s better. If you have the iPhone 14 pro/pro max, you don’t need to buy iPhone 15 pro, at this point your just a consumer.

I had an iPhone 11 since April of 2021. I was debating on whether or not I should upgrade to an iPhone 15 Pro Max when it released in September last year. I almost got swept up in all of the bells, whistles, and hype about the new 15…I’m glad I didn’t and here’s why: On January 2nd I finally decided to part ways with my iPhone 11 and start 2024 off with an iPhone 14 Pro Max. In my opinion it’s the last of its kind in terms of how the battery is charged. I honestly don’t like the idea that an iPhone can now be charged with the same charger as a Samsung user. I know that sounds petty & ridiculous but I said what I said and I’m standing on that lol. I feel an iPhone should be unique and set apart from the rest in every aspect. I feel like the 14 Pro Max is a cultivation of its predecessors. And since Apple will never make an iPhone with the lightning charger again due to the laws that were enforced, I feel like I can finally rest with this particular phone for a long time without having to worry or feel pressured about upgrading every few years. I’m also with AT&T so I got a pretty sweet upgrade deal…$10.99 for 36 months for an 128GB iPhone 14 Pro Max! Unfortunately I didn’t get a trade-in value for my iPhone 11, but I’m sure I can sell it on Facebook marketplace.

USB-C, including faster transfer speeds and recording video straight to SSD, is my main reason for upgrading this year. I was rocking my 2nd gen SE and didn’t want to invest more money into Lightning. Titanium is a plus.

It’s only 20 grams lighter so you won’t notice it and titanium scratches more easily than surgical-grade stainless steel and you cannot buff out scratches on titanium like you can on stainless steel.

Why is a physical shutter nice lmao? You're knocking the entire framing of the photo out of place when you press it. There's a reason most people don't complain about having to lightly tap the touchscreen. Ideally, you'd prop your phone up with a tripod or use a gimbal and then have a remote shutter button.

The video quality is looking off because you are using HDR. You can fix this on Final Cut Pro by using the HDR tool. Turn it back to SDR ✅

I own the 14 Pro Max and I really can’t see the difference between the 14 and 15 other than a bit of different programming in the software. I will be bit buying the 15 pro max. There just isn’t enough different to justify the cost to upgrade for me personally even though I’m a titanium nut. My EDC gear is basically all titanium. I use a tactileturn sideclick (short) for my pen and I love me titanium frame lock higher end knives. I bought the Apple ultra because it was titanium… but with my phone there needs to be a noticeable hardware upgrade for me to justify it. This did not happen.

I agree. I own the 14 Pro Max (Silver) and absolutely love it. I’ll admit that Blue Titanium color is fire 🔥 though. That said, I hang on to my phones for a few years usually; and when I upgraded to the 14 PM last year, I was coming from the X..so that was a huge upgrade. Not much of a difference between the 14 PM and the 15 PM. If you’re still rocking an 11 PM or maybe a 12PM, I think an upgrade (to the 14 or 15 PM) would be a strong consideration.

You messed something up when importing the iPhone video recording. I guess you filmed it in Dolby Vision HDR (the default setting on iPhones), and then converted it to SDR for this video. That will look really bad without some proper color grading.

I know a lot of people are passing on the upgrade for now, but like I said last time I commented on an iPhone 15 video, this might (MIGHT) actually be the first time I upgrade my phone by choice rather than out of necessity! The USB-C alone is extremely tempting, and I recently learned that the action button can run any shortcut--this, by extension, means the action button can do ALMOST ANYTHING. My imagination is running wild. Also, possibly hot take: I like the idea of the action button better than the silent switch, because such a tiny switch can be a bit fiddly to work with at times.

Good content. As for the titanium frame, its only 10% titanium infused with aluminum. So do yourself a favor, use a case. That blue frame will show scratches real easy. And the back glass doesnt have a metal plate like the 14pro max does. So definitely use a case.

My iph 15 pro max started to overheat like crazy, in approx 10 min normal use with no gaming it starts to be very hot and the entire things starts to move very slow (similar when you put your ph in lower power mode), never had this issue with 13 pro max
