We use tge iphone 15 to scan building details when doing fieldwork for scan to bim projects. It is ideal for scanning facade ornaments. It can be real useful for smaller scans, although it has it’s limitations in speed and precision, so for areas larger than a few m2 we wouldn’t recommend it.

cool, can you please scan a complex or not that complex scene and compare both but from a mesh point of view in a 3d package in order to see mesh quality?blender is free and you can import obj or fbx files. Thanks in advance.

Great video Rami, the relative error of the iPhone 15 pro was surprisingly good . There are so many user case for the use of these phones compared to tradition and much more expensive equipment to get great results.

You use a camera with night vision (no ir filter) and project the lidar dots on a wall to se if there are any differences.

If I want to record with an iPhone a terrain 1000m long and 20m wide, is it better to do it with one file or several files and then connect them into one? Is the iphone usable for this type of work and how accurate is the lidar if I'm filming in the field under the forest?

Hey any chance you could compare the lidar point clouds of the 2? just of a flat surface at a specific range. Curious to see the difference between the point clouds created by only the lidar sensor

Have you figured out how to do a sand cone ASTM D1556/D1556M with it yet? It should be able to get the volume of the hole. All you would have to do is cook, weigh it, and do the math with the maximum dry density for the sample. It is still not as fast as a Troxler for density, but I am running into situations where I can't get a nuclear gage on the site. I am sure if you cranked out a video on it and published it with the right key words you would get a lot of hits from Geotechnical Civil PEs. Civil is not all design. Most of it is testing of materials. Not glamorous, but necessary for the states to sign of on R/W dedications. You do incredible work. Impressive!

Do you attribute the smaller relative error in the 15Pro to a better GPS receiver / software on the 15 Pro . I know that the 14 Pro had a big improvement over the 13 Pro , in that department .

I know most gps receivers are really bad in elevation. I think a better rms comparison 9n only lat and long would be a better metric. Adding in the elevation error swamps the data and obscures the comparison data.
