I have the iPhone 13 and boy is it a beast and one heck of a workhorse. It takes a beating (my toddler has put it to the test) but I feel it’s time to upgrade to the regular 16 Plus. I will miss the 13, which I still believe it was the best iPhone Apple ever made.

I had a 13 but an opportunity to get a 16 plus for $100 came up so I did and honestly I really like it, even more than the 13. I usually use my iPad to watch videos or movies and in the week I’ve gotten the 16, I’ve reached for it instead. I don’t usually care about screen size, but I definitely enjoy the larger one than the 13. I use my phone for photos, texting, emails, YT, TikTok, and movies which is does very well.

Underestimated is a big stretch. When iPhone XS Max came out, the ad said that the battery will last you all day and half of the next day. My battery lasted for 1 day and a half with a light-moderate use. And it got worse with each iOS update.

@@andyH_England Thats for sure, but I also went to Apple and had it changed to a brand new battery. The issues began in iOS 15 when battery life got significantly worse. It was brand new battery and my phone lasted for just 14 hours compared to 25 hours. And this was just with moderate to light use. Ive never installed nor played any games with it, just Apple Maps, notes calls and messages for the most part.

So, many buy for the purpose of asthetics, useability with battery life. iPhone 5, 6, 7 argument of battery life cannot be used to to keep on thumbing the chest and to defeat the iPhone 16 plus.

The 16 series looks pretty good all around , but i think it gets some undeserved flak for not looking much different on the outside from previous models , despite it having a raft of improvements ! Half the battle for phone makers imo is that you can go back 5 or 6 generations of phones , and even today , they are still very decent devices. I still have my 12 and 14 pro max , and 14 pro max still feels very up to date with decent photo and video capabilities, it still performs well and has decent battery, apart from not much in the way of AI , which in my case I just do not place a lot of value on anyway. My 14 is a 512 GB model and it still has 93% battery health , I'm no different to anyone else, i like the new shiny things , but my current phone still works perfectly well and I'm very happy with it. It's a pretty hard sell to spend 1k+ or in my country 2k+ just to have the shiny new model , that to be frank, won't do much more than my current phone.

The base model iPhones this year are far more feature rich in capable than previous years devices and spec levels are closer to the pros than ever before, for the majority of people this is the one to get, especially in teal.

The reason Apple maintains a 60hz refresh rate is because they can offer minimum upgrades to milk the customer base. Eventually they will upgrade to 120hz and all the Apples fans will boast about it as if Apple wasn't simply holding out on the upgrade for future profitability.

I don't care for Apple as a company because I hate feeling that a corporation will finesse you for profit. I had the Ipad Air 2, I loved it. Little did I know after a few years they don't allow you to download updates in the app store so all my apps are old. Apple openly and obviously finesses it's customers. They force you to update the device just to update the apps if you want to remain in the ecosystem. It's disrespectful af. That's the main reason I left Apple entirely and completely.

I think it sux. First day I used it the screen flashed continuously with horizontal lines then phone call sound sucked as well. No one could hear me then Apple gave me the run around just to replace it and I still haven’t received it! I think because it’s not the high end phone, the quality is substandard. I regret giving up my 14 pro max for all this headache. Never again!

For many reasons, including the fact that iPhones are not Android and not everyone wants to use Android, some of us prefer different systems. Also, Moto gives lousy update support, which is about half of what Apple does. Also, iPhones are premium, and Moto are mid-range (chips, materials, etc). I could go on, but you know that the iPhone is better.

The S24+ is an excellent phone outside the EU, as we get Exynos for >£1000. So, the higher-performing iPhone 16 Plus would be a no-brainer for me as I have had some terrible Exynos phones. I still have the S20U that stopped getting updates 2.5 years ago and never got much more than 5 hours SOT, and it is now 3-4 hours even though the battery still has 90% health.

Some people may say paying $1050 for the Galaxy Flip 6 with a 1080p display is even worse, as the sub-pixel arrangement will seem even worse than FHD+. It is a much more sophisticated method than slapping with glue compared to what is out there now. Although we will never have removable battery panels, and even the EU Law in 2027 says OEMs do not need to regress technology back to the 1980s, it is a solid start to making it easier and less messy.

@@greg5023 Strongest argument for ios to me its that the whole os is just more logically laid out, clean asf and just works. I recently tried out a pixel and thought right im on a pixel, stock android, lets get to customising, nothing crazy, i wanted to remove the google widget on the home screen as I just prefer to launch chrome instead.. YOU CANT REMOVE IT WITHOUT INSTALLING A DIFFERENT FKN OS. Second thing I wanted to get rid of and stop popping up was the 9000 notification icons for apps that are next to the time and your signal bars.. cant do that either. So the whole point of android is to have the power to customise your phone to your liking when I cant clean up all the bs at all. I returned the phone within 12hours of not being able to customise such basic things.

People have a choice; if that 60hz would make you inconsolable, do not buy it. Apple sells at 60hz for solid business reasons, and consumers can buy it. And 60Hz will not make you strain more; if anything, science would say the opposite. PWM dimming is what will strain your eyes.

Stop parroting the apple propaganda that the average consumer does not need high refresh rates. They do ABSOLUTELY need it and whoever has used one knows it makes a huge difference in day to day social media viewing since most of the time you are well just scrolling through those apps. It's not that all pro model users are some special breed, they too are no different than the average user but just have more money to be able to afford the pro model. Hence don't try to act like an apple salesman, if high refresh rate didn't make a difference, then no android manufacturer would have offered it.

I have a 15 pro and an SE 2020 and except for enabling an AOD, the promotion display would not be a selling point for me. It really is not noticeable to me. Note. Me. In fact, despite it being 120hz, I actually find the 15 Pro hard to view because of its pulse width modulation.

It does not matter because people can buy it or not. You won't buy it, so why do you care so much? Maybe the people that are moaning are just here to flex on Apple. There are good reasons why Apple uses product differentiation, and maybe read some economics books to work out that businesses need to be careful how they sell products, as a wrong move can be devastating. Just ask Samsung when they made their FE so good that it took away 40%+ of their premium Galaxy S sales in two years.

In Europe , the base model of iPhone 16 it costs exactly 950$ US and 16 Plus - 1100$ US .
