People hating on the audio mix not realizing those are two extreme environments tested and in a pinch they performed decently. In a more realistic environment with software updates as well this feature is going to be really useful. Also the ability to change video after the fact with 120 4k is awesome. I think the biggest thing for me though is the battery life, the new chips are way more efficient and these phones should be way better in that department. Gaming tests will be interesting on these phones. If you like to game these are a nice step up too.

There are obvious technical issues going on in these examples, shown by using a 22,050Hz sample rate, versus the traditional 44.1kHz or 48kHz sample rates. Earlier demos did not show this, so either Apple's demos were faked or more likely a software bug on these devices.

Great review. I appreciate your focus on the 16 Pro’s many capabilities. Some reviewers being too precious pretending it’s not worth reviewing without the upcoming AI features. Reviewers are becoming crazier with each iPhone release. The same reviewers who whined about Apple’s walled garden or not allowing for more “customization”, are now complaining the Camera Control is too granular and how nobody wants it.

I'm strongly considering upgrading from my 13 Pro Max to the 16 Pro Max because of the camera upgrades, the better battery life, & wanting a lighter Pro Max model. I make car videos for Instagram, TikTok, & KZbin, so the camera & battery life improvements justify upgrading this year from the 13 Pro Max to the 16 Pro Max, even though I was considering to get the 15 Pro Max in blue titanium while my carrier or Apple still has it in stock. But then the camera & battery life upgrades to the 16 Pro Max means it makes more sense to just get that through my carrier with their trade-in deal

Is there any chance we could get some follow up on the new thermal system and if they're any different between the 16 and 16 Pro? Every iPhone, at least until this one we don't know about yet, has throttled and dimmed the display after a while in the hot sun or playing a game, and those days that are hot are usually when I have the most problems getting into the camera app and taking photos in a flash where it sometimes starts lagging.

Anything on KZbin will be compressed and the video would have been compressed previously too in editing before upload. It was also in low light and without pro-res or hdr. I think some of it was in slow motion and low light too. So it makes sense but i agree, didn’t seem impressive from the footage.

A18/A18 pro and M4 are the first cpu with armv9 instructions set. We came using armv8 instructions from A7 (iphone 5s), so 10 years. But the armv9 supports 10 instructions set and a way different sub architecture optimizations for performance per watt. People need to study a bit instead of only seeing outside cosmetic stuff
