2:12 this is called fighting your muscle memory, and something people tend to forget! You have to reprogram your brain to new behaviours even how to hold your phone so your finger fall just at the right place on this smart button (oups I called it a button). For some it might take a few hours and others a few months for it to feel as natural as when it wasn’t there. So take it easy and give us another videos once you’ll try it for 1,000 days to eventually build some new muscle memory (this is assuming this smart button will still be there on the iPhone 17 and 18). At this point, I’ll just be surprised if in a few months you’ll not make another video titled: ”Camera Control: I was wrong!”. But who knows? I might be wrong on that was one as well!

A couple of my friends got the 16 Pro and have no regrets. They were upgrading from the iPhone XR and safe to say the new one is 10 times better, in terms of battery, screen, cameras, etc. They didn't care about the future promise of Apple Intelligence, and I think most people are in the same boat; they just want a new phone. I for the other hand will be sticking with my 13 Pro Max for another year. Let's see what Apple has in store next year.

I'll tell you: Back in 1997, just before Jobs return to Apple, I purchased 1,200 shares of Apple stock about about $30,000, +/-. It is worth a pretty penny in 2024! People thought I was nuts and this was in the day when people thought Apple was going to go out of business. My hopes that in the long term I could double my investment. My thoughts about camera control: - location of this button is not right - you have to double click to open camera, whilst Action button can do it in one long click - switching between modes is not comfortable - I cannot remap it to other function - on screen it is much easier and more comfortable to switch zoom/modes And I don't use it anymore

Apple doesn’t produce for the consumer. It uses the consumer as a means to produce for their shareholders. All companies do….especially publicly held companies. I think you’re 100% spot on that the release cycle should probably 18-24 months. Increased optical zoom, higher (100 and 120 fps) for video recording and improved 4K and new Dolby Vision recording. But for me going from a 12 Pro Max - the change will be huge. I am not a fan boy - I don’t get a new phone every year just to have a new phone. But for you saying the camera is the same is misleading at best. Actually a flat out lie.

Though during charging and playing games for a long time it can get pretty hot.. like very hot.. idk if it’s just my phone or everyone’s (prob not everyone’s) but i encourage you to purchase it because there isn’t really any improvements with iphone 16

I literally have to put my phone on the ac vents of my car from time to time to get it to relax lol Apple needs to solve the thermal issues with their new phones especially now they are putting more advanced chips in the 16 pros I can definitely see it becoming a bigger issue correct me if I’m wrong 16 pro owners

I’ve seen multiple minor issues 1. Random Siri issues - simply doesn’t work. 2. Internet stops working 3. Apple Maps dimming the music volume and then it doesn’t come back to normal value. 4. Keyboard copy option randomly goes away. 5. Camera control button keeps on zooming when I click. 6. I’ve set flashlight via action button and by mistake when it’s ON and I touch the camera button, the camera although doesn’t start however the flashing goes OFF. 7. When selecting text to copy the page never scrolls along with my thumb - I need to manually scroll it and then move the select cursor to select until the text I need. It simply doesn’t feel value for money.

I actually appreciate the camera button. But my USE of it is simple. I finally figured out how to press the button the correct way in order to toggle between camera settings. I know how to use it, but I try not to. I like it on the same two setting, zoom *or* camera switching mode. Otherwise, everything else is too cumbersome, as you mentioned in this video. I am taking more landscape photos. I’m taking more photos in general, which is different from my Z fold 4. I use to have to double click to get to camera on the Fold… I do miss the fingerprint reader…… but I digress. I’m happy with my iPhone after 10+years on Android. I give it 8.5/10, compared to my fold 4 and all the features I am no longer getting that I actually care about.

There is no way to make the volume lower than the lowest default volume while on the call, also no way to silence the dialpad tones, except muting the phone...Who does that serve?

16 Pro Max here, no complaints since I have iOS 18.1 on my phone. I do get people being underwhelmed by camera control though as I am somewhat of a minimalist that doesn’t want any additional buttons on my device. That said, if you spend some time getting used to it, it can be a convenient way to quickly capture moments.

There’s no substitute for buttons and knobs. It’s why I have a hard time buying a new car without a volume knob. I can’t stand having to use a touch screen to adjust simple functions. I definitely don’t use the new camera control on my 16 pro max. It’s tiny and clumsy. A better idea would have been to use the volume buttons to zoom.

Upgraded from a 13 Pro to a 16 Pro Max. Love it so far. The camera control did take a day or so to get used to, but I really like the convenience. Maybe it's because I'm used to fiddling with controls like it on actual cameras. Love the overall camera quality as well; definitely a big improvement over my 13 pro. Obviously, I'd have liked it to launch with AI on it, even though I doubt I'll ever use those features. That's something that old Apple never would've done.

I upgrade every year because I get good money for 1 year phones on ebay, so I have to put ~200-300€ in, but not 14pm, not 15pm neither the 16pm comes close to the battery life the 13pm had! No idea how apple did that, but my gf used my old 13pm till this year, and the battery wasn’t that good anymore, but sadly compareble to the 15pm after a year of usage and even the 16pm doesn’t really live longer compared to the 13pm having only 84% capacity left

I get on this computer once, daily for 60 minutes- max (some days I just check my email and turn it off). My phone is an AGM M8 security+. I have a Garmin GPS if traveling somewhere unfamiliar or long distance. My life has been so much better this way. More technology and connectivity is, truly, the root of high anxiety.

As someone with small hands, and right handed, I use the camera control all the time now - using my thumb not fingers! I went for the smaller Pro this year and I can easily launch, control and take photos with that control now. The smaller Pro is definitely more optimal for that control and where it’s situated.

Every time I use camera control, it leaves me disappointed.The placement of the button will actually interfere with a non-MagSafe camera bracket to hold the iPhone. And if you use the MagSafe for the tripod, then you can’t use it for wireless charging, for example.. so I just feel that they haven’t thought things through and my bigger worry is that this camera control button is likely to stay for multiple generations meaning future iPhones will have to live with this terrible feature

It’s relieving to hear others have question marks on this one. My iPhone 16 Pro Max has been really buggy. The camera crashes, it lags, super hot, and sometimes it won’t even charge. iOS feels like it’s changing for the sake of change rather than improving user accessibility or experience. The interface is no longer intuitive, with a confusing mix of increased customizability and enforced usage patterns. It feels paradoxical; they should either focus on customization or a streamlined experience. I used to appreciate the simplicity of iPhones, but now it feels awkward and poorly designed, lacking enough features for me to tailor it to my needs to compensate for the weird design choices. I never thought I’d consider switching, but I'm thinking about it now. And don’t get me started on the Photos and music app-it feels like a reflection of the entire experience. They’ve fallen out of touch.

Just saying, upgrading from the iPhone 12 I don’t really care if it is unfinished, or not worth upgrading from the iPhone 15…. because I dont have an iPhone 15. I have an iPhone 12 with last I checked 78% battery capacity (that oddly enough gets me through the day based in my usage and charging) and a back glass cracked on the inside layer. I love it because it still works really well, but I decided 6 months ago I would upgrade when budget allows for it (to the 15 Pro) and I doubt anyone would say that the 16 Pro is not as good as the 15 Pro, sure its not a major upgrade… but it is an upgrade. And I still get the bonus of everything else on the 13, 14, 15 series.

As a software dev, I think it was the correct marketing move for them to market this way. It takes an incredible amount of time and effort to really fine tune AI functionality. It makes sense to me that they would show what the newest phone will be capable of, because you’re buying the hardware for access to those capabilities when they’re available. I’m a little biased I guess, but it’s less of a “half-baked” situation and more of an acknowledgment that they’re actively and probably feverishly working on releasing AI features as soon as humanly possible when the hardware aspect is much less time consuming to accomplish. Software development takes way longer than people think, let alone AI.

Apple is really going to start losing loyal customers. The phone has been the same for 6 phone cycles in a row. Squaring the edges and then slightly rounding them again is not a redesign. Going from a notch to a pill is not a redesign. They need to do something new and they need to do something shiny because they are getting stale. Switching from stainless steel to titanium is not a redesign the average consumer who buys the phone does not care.

Not really sure what to feel about the 16 Pro Series. I appreciate the chip upgrade and efficiency that leads to better battery life, but Im skeptical of the camera button. I feel that it's something that Apple will remove/ redesign eventually. I would actually recommend people to just go for a 15 Pro Max if they can find one brand new.

I upgraded from the 11. Back then i decided it’s dumb to upgrade every year, it’s a phone. Each new version is just a boot loader for apps, a browser and a camera. The camera control is nice to snap quicker pictures. It’s still just a phone. The Apple intelligence feature is something I’ll be wary of until I can trust it to be consistent. I’d rather Apple taking it slow rather than release their ai models like Google. That said, this iPhone likely should’ve taken an additional 6 months to finish.

I've watched A LOT of the critical reviews about the iPhone 16/16 Pro. I agree with some of the critiques and missing promised updates. I upgraded to the 16 ProMax from the 14 PM. Perhaps I could have held off a year, but I'm sure there will be "problems" with the next phone too. But now, I've grown weary of all these negative videos. They are starting to smack more of reasons to stick sponsorship ads in the middle of vids, rather than being helpful.

Innovation is slowing down, I was on a 3 year upgrade cycle and now it is 5 years. My 12 pro max only has 1 qualm so far and it is battery life. Other than that, upgrading is just so minor. GPU performance or CPU was taking strides back then and now it is a steps. If the 17 pro max doesn't get any substantial improvements, looks like my upgrade cycle might be even longer.

I have the 16 Pro it seems pretty complete to me. It does everything takes pictures/video, makes calls, KZbin, etc…. Don’t care for the marketing if you see the ad “skip it”.
