iPhone 16 Pro Max Rhinoshield Mod NX Quick Review (and Supcase Unicorn Beetle)

The lip is something that was changed last year with the 15 series, the lip is basically the rim, that came with the modNX case if you used it without the backplate, just as a bumper case, there was a removable rim, that we could also interchange with a different colored one, but the new crashguard or modnx, comes with the single piece bumper, the lip makes it feel slightly more bulky, but it gives fwo advantages over the old one, first the new bumper material has some texture, that makes it quite grippy, but the grip slowly reduces overtime, it gets a bit smoother. Another advantage is the new crashguard has some kind of internal rail, and there are some changes to the backplate as well, that makes the backplate fit extremely well inside the bumper, the fit is so good, that no one can tell that it’s a two piece case, it feels like single piece case. Overall, I am satisfied with the new design, I had been using modNX and Crashguard since like 2016 on various phones, I just came here to see what they did, with the camera control button, I didn’t get the 16 series, I buy every two years, I had the 13, then 15 and most likely 17

the lip It avoids getting scratches in the back, i just bought one for my 15pm and it looks and feels really good

Very helpful review! I was strongly considering the Rhinoshield bumper case (minus the clear back so I could put a popsocket flush on the phone), but I haven't seen good things about their cases lately. But I wanted to let you know, I found a "rugged" Supcase that looks like they added it to the lineup after the initial launch cases... It's see-thru with a finger socket, but looks like it's more of a frosted style case. You definitely oughta check it out. I'm hoping it won't have the fingerprint issues like the other cases.

Supcase is the same company as another brand called i-Blason. I recommend you check I-Blason for rugged cases because their rugged cases have a camera control button and I think they have more grip.

The issue that I have with the Mod NX (for the 15) is that the bumper seems to be looser than what I had for my 11 Pro Max, which was a tight fit. One of the bottom corners typically comes out whenever I remove my phone from my pocket, exposing the screen and risking it being damaged directly if it is dropped face down. Do you have the same issue?

@@GhastlyHunger The case feels really tight and I don't see any risk of the phone coming out of the bumper for the iPhone 16 Pro Max with the Mod NX.

That extra thick lip might be due to the camera control opening to add rigidity, maybe?

@@terrykorenowski2736 Could be, I think they may have had this added lip on the iPhone 15 versions of their case too though, which means it isn't from the camera control but a design decision.
