Actually a flatter profile has more potential to band, because one is pushing the colors into a smaller range of the give file container; however, the advantage of a flatter profile is that it has room to grow as sensors improve allowing more dynamic range out of either the existing sensor, if a software modification can improve it, or future sensors.

Image quality is better on OP3, but the iPhone versatility and the true LOG is hard to beat.

TLDR bit D Log M is NOT a log colour space. It is a much smaller Rec 709 colour space. Apple Log is a Log colour space I have learned that the DJI D Log M colour profile is awful to work with and colour match with other cameras. However the DJI HLG colour space is really good to work with because it’s a genuine log profile. D Log M is just a Rec 709 colour space. However HLG is a real log colour space that can compete with other log colour spaces and more importantly, it colour matches well with other cameras. I suggest that you try your comparison with the Osmo using HLG against your iPhone and you will be pleasantly surprised at how good the Osmo can be when colour grading. When I learned that D Log M was just a Rec 709 colour profile, I stopped using it straight away. You simply can not compare a log colour space with a Rec709 colour space because it’s not a fair fight. I would never use HLG on my Panasonic cameras because they have vlog, which is a superior colour space. However DJI HLG is really good and will compete very well against apple Log.

I don't understand why apple cant make a dedicated non-phone camera with their current tech. Price it the same as the P3, put it on a water resistant gimbal, and they would sell them like hot cakes.

Nice LUT and you did a good job on matching! I use both for me the differences (in my use case: real estate): DJI P3 has better stabilisation, Apple seems to have better highlight rol off. So if you want smooth shots, go for DJI, if you want to preserve more image quality, use the iphone.

I have the money to buy both of these and would pick the iPhone for its superior video capabilities, every day. You speak like you know absolutely nothing about videography, especially when the supposed “LOG” profile he’s comparing Apple LOG to, here, isn’t even an actual, full-fledged, genuine/proper LOG profile, to begin with, and is an absolute nightmare to colour-grade. In what world is the world’s most reliably elite video-capturing phone, “defective”, exactly? Tell me you’re a baselessly degenerate hater without telling me. Jesus Christ, almighty. I also use Android, BlackBerry AND iOS, so, don’t even go there with the whole sub-10 IQ-“bias” nonsense.

​@@foolofaguyinlove, It's a phone! Cameras are designed for filming! To make it more convenient, better quality and cheaper. I don't need any excuses for the idiocy of filming a video on a PHONE! My recent video on the channel is exactly about the fact that you shouldn't film on a phone. Why this LOG if the camera immediately films in HDR?! So that some weirdo could disfigure the image with his video from rec.2020 to rec.709? Crawl back under the baseboard.
