get android and test some raw in 30 or 60 fps, even raw video encoded on the fly to various codecs :) we have phones doing with 14 bit dcg raw video... ofc you have limitations.. no eletronic stabilization.. heating if encoding on the fly (GPU).. post processing needed and so on.. but quality is outstanding.. DSLR comparable.. and for sports.. to be able to shoot 30fps or 60fps raws almost unlimited is insane.. 120fps on some phones with buffer..

I’m really puzzled why the ultrawide camera doesn’t support the 24MP feature that the main 1x camera does. Unfortunately, I’m not skilled enough to work with RAW photos and fully take advantage of that 48mp mode. The 24MP is a nice improvement over the 12MP, and I really wish Apple had included that feature for the ultrawide lens as well

I recently purchased the iPhone 16 Pro, and I've noticed that the photo processing quality after capturing an image is not as good as what I see at the moment of capture. The images, especially in portrait mode, look noticeably worse after processing. They often appear overly sharpened and smoothed, which makes them lose the natural detail. When compared to the iPhone 15 Pro, the results are even less impressive. The issues showing more on 5x lens As a first-time iPhone user transitioning from Android, this has been quite underwhelming, particularly considering the price I paid. I’m now thinking about reselling the device because the camera performance doesn’t feel worth the cost. Will this issue be addressed in a future software update? What should I do ?

RAW (not ProRAW) from Lightroom mobile or Halide is even more impressive. More details because there is no ugly denoise like in ProRAW and you can even improve the photo with AI Denoise in Lightroom - MUCH better than default ProRAW.

Lightroom does not yet have profiles for the iPhone 16s, hence the poor RAW image quality. Looks at the same images in Apple’s Photo app, and the quality is much better. Lenses on phones need massive lens correction to look good, or even acceptable in some cases.

currently using iphone 15 pro.. sended my jpegs taken with my phone to a lab and had them printed..10*15 and some 13*18...they were nowhere close to ones I shot with my fuji...yes they look awesome on phone screen..but dont look that good when printed out..might be something due to heif files...I can literally tell which prints were taken with iphone and camera..by the way my fuji is just an old xt3

There’s really not many settings you can change. I would just recommend keeping the exposure compensation at -0.7 or -1 when it’s bright out

Great review, im a portrait photographer and I have held onto my 13 pro. Was thinking to upgrade to the 16 Pro. But I think the 5x lens would be overkill. I I wish they kept the 3x lens. Apple really underwhelming this year with no camera upgrades on the hardware side really. The main sensor didn’t get bigger. The ultrawide in my usage is softer and less bright in low light. Living in the UK, this is the first time I have noticed this problem. Most of my photos need that exposure due to our gloomy weather most of the year. But on those rare sunny days, I will take note of the tip to dial down exposure, though I tend to favour higher exposure for landscapes.

Wait for the 17. You will get marginally better performance on all cameras going to the 16. The biggest upgrade is Apple log video if you shoot higher end video stuff then maybe it’s worth the upgrade to the 16. I haven’t shot that video about it yet though. Stay tuned

The camera button will likely be more useful when Visual Intelligence (Circle to Search) arrives as that is how you use that Apple Intelligence feature. As for using it for the camera, zoom and Photographic Style manipulation look its main user case especially if you are using one-handed.
