If you want to be a better photographer or videographer, refuse to upgrade your equipment. Stop buying the big lie. Work on your technique. The improvements that they make from year to year on these iPhones are ridiculously insignificant. The new camera interface is clunky and no one is going to use it. The ultra wide angle is worse in low light at 48 megapixel.

@@AmmarAjjoub theres a manufacture defect with the main camera sensor for the 16 pros and pro max check if yours has it by doing a 30sec covering the main lens and see if you get a blue tint or lines all across the photo it should be plain black. I'm gonna have to get my new phone replaced with another one due to this.

Thanks for doing this test, Ammar. As others have expressed, I too was surprised by the detail on the older cameras. Within the first week the iPhone 16 was available, I bought the 16 Pro Max, but kept my previous 14 Pro. The 3X on the 14 Pro is much better than 3x on the 16 Pro Max, because the 14 has a dedicated 3X camera/lens, while the 16 shoots a a 3x image on a wider lens and does a digital crop to create a 3x image.I find Camera Control button on the 16 is a royal PITA to use. It's difficult to adjust accurately and is in an awkward place to use. An external bluetooth shutter button is easier to use to trigger the shutter. :-Don

I came from a XS, which I loved how soft and natural the photos were and the preview was exactly like the final shot, to a 13PM, which I HATED, because it was aggressively and artificially sharp and skin tones were always pink or orange and EVERYTIME I pressed the shutter and checked the photo, after 1 second… tah dah, a completely different photo with a completely different color rendition, with everything painted over the original shot I framed. No solutions to this problem except taking photos in raw and editing to remove the aggressive HDR, too complicated and heavy files. The 3x camera always gave me horrible results with people and I could never force the zoom in low light. Decided to abandon the iPhone because the 14 was even worse, back then. I don’t know who told these companies that this shit is photography, because they are making photos worse every year, by artificially boosting sharpening, making the shadows unnecessarily bright and photos completely flat and ugly. At least Samsung gave me the option, from S23 line, to completely switch off HDR, and now I love having my portraits with clipped highlights. The oversharpening is still a problem, though. I still have my XS and love taking pictures with it.

@@AmmarAjjoubi mean it’s only been 3 years, we’ve gotten to the point where tech improvements have slowed down, we’re reaching the limits, hence why every company is trying to shift to AI to improve, most of the difference in photos now is software, not to do with the cameras themselves. Besides the 12 to 48mp shift

I'm pleased with the results! For quite a while, I felt like the camera post-processing was getting worse every year. But now I picked 16 Pro as my favorite most of the time. With the 15 Pro as my second place. So it's finally going in the right direction again!

Looking at this video, the 14 pro is next to the best quality 16 pro and similar to the 16 pro in the color range. 14 pro and 16 pro are of very good quality, 16 pro is a bit better, it seems clearer. 15 pro camera quality is lower than 14 pro. I currently have the 14 pro max and it takes quality videos and photos for me, it just doesn't have the 5x zoom. The 13 pro is also sometimes better than the 15 pro and that is very strange. Thank you for this video!

I disagree. Because the 14 Pro over-process their photos too much. But if that's the look you like, then it's possible to easily get that back on the 16 Pro with the new "photographic styles" setting.

Super good comparison! My compliments since others haven’t even mentioned those small differences that may be important for decision making . Under my humble opinion, if someone owns iPhone 14 Pro any upgrade is literally pointless since it’s a phone . If someone is a professional they should get serious equipment 😊

Great comparison. Would’ve like to see a rolling shutter comparison as the 16 Pro is said to have a readout that’s twice as fast as the 15 pro. And shutter lag. But really good video overall. I kept choosing the 16 pro and 15 pro as my favorites before the reveal and for the video the 14 pro looked best. The 16 pro seemed jittery I’m not sure why.

I only use my iPhone with the main camera in 48MP ProRAW mainly in museums, as I get a bit more detail than in 12MP. I wasn't happy with the 15 Pro so I switched back to the 14 Pro and will skip the 16 Pro as the main camera in 48MP ProRAW is no better.

Not crazy about this format; a straight comparison without the blind test part would've been preferable imo since I like to know which phone took which photos/vids the first go around instead of going back and checking again after the phone names are revealed.
