Thanks Jermaine. Superb as always. Glad vivo made it. The thing is, that you can play with filters and settings on vivo to get darkened and deeper shots. You cant play with iPhone to remove bad dd, lighting artifacts, color mistakes and etc. 11:51 how is that possible in 2024, when even mid range phones are capable to make correct shots in scenarios like that.

Another eye opening comparison. Your results on the ultra wide surprised me. Just from the specs I expected the iPhone 16 Pro's main sensor to be competent and the telephoto on the Vivo to be superior, but the Ultrawide? Apple really slipped up there. That there "fix" was to darken the photos is also concerning.

Hi Jermaine, great video there, hope your content will grow more and more. Regarding vivo we get that right now it's one of the best camera centric phone in that price range...but how will it compete against a proper camera, can you please show us what's your take on this, just like last year your Panasonic and Xiaomi 13 pro comparison, I've watched the video and it was a great one. For suggestions I can say take a crop sensor apsc camera like sony a6400 and a zoom lens like Sigma 20-50 f2.8, that will make the total price point kinda similar and it will be a great comparison for us who want's to do photography by passion, not professionally. I don't think it's "sharpening", on the Vivo. Sometimes it's just naturally "sharper" because it's hardware can capture much more light and shot at faster speeds, isn't?

I dont get it, if you want to get the feel of night, just post edit it with lowering the exposure and brightness... But you can't get an extra sharp/quality/shadow detail/less noise even u try to post edit it, so vivo clearly wins here...

The iPhone is good at extracting the most from the smaller sensors. But there's only so much you can do Plus they need to do something about the lens reflections Overall the Vivo is better, though i wouldn't mind a little more natural night photos

The difference in video quality in low light is huge. The times where iPhone was the best for video has long passed. Also in that selfie video iPhone slowed down the shutter to the point of video looking 12fps. It's actually even visible on main sensor video as well. I do have to say that i am not a fan of the overall processing of low light shots from X100 Ultra, i would prefer if they would be less saturated and kept more contrast - less shadow lifting, the night sky should be black as well. This is actually something that OnePlus 12 does waaaaay better. I assume though that these photos would ironically look better in pro mode.

@@willzdemy well, i'll give you an example. I love the way i can shoot with my OnePlus 12 and the control it gives me(i'm talking about adjusting sharpness/saturation/contrast in master mode). I know that Vivo does pretty much the same things in different menus. The main difference is that on OnePlus 12 the default photo mode is way more balanced than Vivo. I think it's the only smartphone on the market that i can think of that actually takes night photos with how the scene actually looks. Dark parts are kept dark and bright sections are bright. It's very well balanced. It's something that i feel is missing from that Vivo. I would probably shoot pro mode 90% of the time.

It's the same as I said on the comparison with the Xiaomi. You obviously just compare the shots in auto mode without editing, but still in the end the iphone as well as the Xiaomi loses so much detail by being that dark, which you can't get back, while on the Vivo you get all the details and simply can make it darker afterwards to get the feel of the night. Therefore the Vivo clearly wins with all three sensors

Yes, this is auto vs auto, explained in the video because most will do that. Editing isn't showcased because most simply won't do that so I want to show what it would be like for most people. And for the iPhone ultra wide shots, forget editing them, there are parts where simply there is no information. These comparisons are simply to showcase how a normal user will see it, if i focus on editing, that will be in a solo video of a phone because then it makes sense. For Xiaomi it can be way to soft and lose some detail, but nothing like apple, that is much worse. Xiaomi however is the best at capturing that night feel

They shoot in 24mp (without drawbacks) while other phones shoot at 12mp in default. They have a periscope now. Also other aspects such as the screens and batteries are much better now and have surpassed the competitors such as Samsung and Vivo. Samsung is sleeping and falling behind, but Apple has been hard at work.

I do like your videos and thank you for that :) Vivo night photography is more processed than iphone... that makes it stands out of any other smartphone now and its great, i love it! Its a possibility of software/hardware people want to make.. stacking of frames, no blown hilights in hdr, photo of stars at night... none of them isnt "feel" of the night, reality, etc... everything is a processing and this is a whole new level which other phones cant do. Its too much? maybe,.. you can lower exposure before take a shot, switch to manual. I want just to say, every mobile process photos in auto and this one makes is like any other mobile can do.
