I had the iphone 12 but recently upgraded do it being 4 years old and struggling to keep up and I personally wouldn’t update it to IOS 18 right now until IOS 17 is at the absolute end of its lifecycle then do so, battery life was okay on IOS 17 even with updating it to IOS 17.7 when I updated it to IOS 18 is when I noticed battery life went down and the phone struggled even worse after updating. If you do update it to IOS 18 just be careful.

I have iphone 13 and it's such a great device in 2024, ios 18 is sometimes kinda choppy but that's for every iphone now, I usually get about 6 hours of battery life on 5G without 5G or with less 5G it's close to 7 hours. If you want more stable experience stick to the ios 17. Also iphone 13 is worth it but for the good price which is about 400 USD in my country for 128 gb used with very good condition
