I probably would not get an iPhone Flip. My first priority is maximum functionality - meaning the best possible cameras, screens and reliability as opposed to a flip for the sake of... portability? I don't know! As for what tech I am planning on getting this year? If my budget allows it probably an updated iPad and a new mirrorless camera.

I currently use an iPhone 15 Pro Max, a backup that is an iPhone 14 Pro Max, an old 2nd generation iPad Pro (shockingly still working well and great with the Logitech Folio keyboard) and a more recent (2022) iPad Pro. These all work together as a team and are my office…home or away. I’m hoping to try out the new iPhone 17 Flip when it arrives and definititely looking to upgrade my old iPad Pro before it is too late. The crease that everyone complains about is a non issue if you actually use a foldable. I've had the fold2,3,5,and now 6. Keep in mind I had zero issues with any of the durability issues others complain about and I work in the remodeling field, that includes dust, dirt, and water. The 6 feels much stronger lighter, and much more polished then the others. Im actually excited to see Apple jump into the foldable market now that others have done all of the foot work on the technology. It will be good to see what they can bring to the table.

you say footwork but you do realise that Apple don't generally build their own screens for one. Also, Samsung and others use their customer base as Beta testers. Whilst Apple aren't the perfect, far from it, they usually bring out a polished version. They push the market forward and it's undeniable.

@@Virru112 Yes Android is a open UI that is very customizable. User's can sign up for Beta versions of new software if they want, but don't have too. Now hardware is not much different these days and it's competitive between Samsung and Apple. But as far as software Apple is behind in someways and ahead in other ways, but Apple is far from being as innovative as Samsung.

The thing is the screen. Had a Samsung Flip 4, sent back because less than a month in, the screen where it folds was creased and a line as big as the DMZ in Korea was across the display covering up emails, game play, pictures, movies. The plastic screen doesn't work. Heres the real answer, use TWO glass panels, like the Motorola Razr. The fold didn't bother me cause the brain fills in a lot. But now with bezels as thin as they are, the slight gap is barely noticeable. Plastic screens may be ok for many applications but not a foldable phone.

A foldable iPhone would be amazing if they can master the screen tech. I like the idea of it fitting neatly in a pocket without sticking out. Same goes for a foldable iPad, honestly. I use my old iPad pro (2018) daily for work. It would be so cool if I could fold it in half to save space in my bag! Perhaps a bit of a reign on AI (if that’s even possible) to hopefully start to prevent AI companies from generating malicious things including deepfakes for example. My 6 th generation IPAD hasn’t received IOS 18 update yet but even if it never does I will live with 17.7 iOS forever because I can play with a new update at a Target floor model!

Looking forward to the iPhone 16 pro max - will be time to upgrade from my iPhone 13 Pro Max! 10 September launch date - also, for my mother, the next iPad mini…. Both parents are 80+ and they really getting into Apple. They have an iMac and both have iPhones. If I was the lucky winner, then I would give them the iPad!
