Not having any of the issues you are having but I did have it on the 3G with 3.0. The 3GS makes 3.0 so much better with no lag.

3gs is best for heavy users. most people should be happy with the 3g and save 100 bucks, but like he saidif u wat the state of the art, 3gs. i bougt a new iphone, i chose the 3g 16gb. and im happy

att does tend to not receive signal in places where Verizon, sprint etc does. They use GSM which is an older technology. As for verizon and some other companies they use CDMA which is faster and more reliable. But not as widley used. If you want the iphone then I would recommend it. It all depends on whether you want more wide band coverage.

i had a 3G ...sold it on eBay for 380 bucks and i only had to pay about $38 for my 16gb 3gs. Thats the smartest thing to do if u want to upgrade without paying all that money. When Noah says the notifications on the iphone stops everything... i disagree cuz the notifications hav never interrupted me doing anything (it only makes the little *bing*)

By using the Shuffle feature? And there's a lot of people with big libraries. Most people that have the iPod Classic have between 20,000-30,000 songs.

i think the screen freeze could be the device error try contacting apple customer service. and the overheating is not that new it is been from the iphone 3g itself but it is not that hot to handle the phone at that point. You could be overusing the GPS or anyother application.

I think the iPhone 3gs is great...better speed for EVERYTHING...video camera...better graphics...3.0 mp camera The only thing I think it needs is its own version of multitasking which isnt necassarily a need and without it its still the best phone on the market.

I think the freezing is a problem with 3.0. I've been running into a lot of the same freezing that takes me back to the iPhone 2.0 launch. Most specifically, I have active sync configured on my iPhone 3G, and it forces a pincode. Several times, slide to unlock is completely unresponsive. If I turn off the screen 3-4 times after it locks up, it usually kicks through. I've also noticed the locks in Safari when opening bookmarks, and the mail app when Switching between mailboxes. Annoying.

I realize that GSM is a more global standard. That's why GSM networks have SIM cards and CDMA networks don't. But CDMA is in fact a newer technology. GSM would be better if someone were to travel to other countries but if it's just someone wanting a phone like a teenager or someone not wanting to travel anytime soon.

If you have the "classic" iPhone, would the 3GS be a really good thing to upgrade to if you missed the 3G wagon?

If you have the extra money 3GS 100%, but if you don't and you just want to have an iPhone ASAP, then stick with the 3G and just Jailbreak it to get the Video Recording feature, then the only real difference is the speed and the voice control.

for a limited time the 3g's are 49 for 8gb referbished and 99 for 16gb refurbished! get it fast cuz i dont know when it will stop!

ummm? these "amazingly advanced" phones that you're talking about have one major feature over the iphone: a 1seg tuner, which isn't even a valid complaint anymore now that softbank has released a tuner for the iphone. the iphone has apps, better UI design, and is easier to use in general.

different countries oversees then a GSM provider would be the logical decision. Straight to the point, GSM: Everywhere else but the U.S., CDMA: USA

its strategic timing. a business principle apples not slowing down. have you ever thought that maybe apple is planning something big and it wouldnt be ready this year so they jacked up the speed and put some new features on the phone as a minor update? dont give up on Apple just cuz they havnt blown the competition out of the water. the iPhone is still the best phone on the market just be patient for the overhaul of the device

I'm still sticking to the fact that iphone 3gs has the best battery life of the 3g smartphones on the market so that doesnt make you qualified to say it has horrible battery life. I have seen reviews on android and apparently its not doing that great...its nice, just suffering those setbacks everything goes through. The Palm Pre is a great phone too so dont judge just cuz i am defending the iphone I am just saying the best overall with features, phone, music, internet, and ui is iphone

well the iphone 3gs has voice dialing now so theres no need to argue about it now.... Has mms (will be available for AT&T later this year) it has decent service...not the best in the world but just as good as palms... how about you look 'to revolutionize" up and nobody ever said the 3gs was revolutionizing anything i said they are good at it the original mac the ipod the iphone so what makes you think they wont pull throuugh again?? and wat fone is bttr than the 3gs?

All existing android phones fall mightily short of the iphone 3gs (the Hero probably being the best so far) and what makes you think the android phones are gonna work out so perfectly and really live up to expectations when they have fallen short so far? apple will most likely come up w/ there own version of multitasking and how would u know the battery life w/o actually having 1...the iphone has the best battery life out of all 3g smartphones...thats a fact .

ehh 1 more argument for the heck of it Phone: Palm Pre lacks visual voicemail ...dont care about what verizon has cuz no other phone really compares to iphone 3gs plus iphone and palm pre hav relatively equal phone quality Music: best music player in the cell phone/mp3 player busness Internet: faster 3g than pre and best browser interface in the business UI: easy to use and incredibly complex Features - cards/their app store is nice but app store wins hands down feels good

Can't name three, but one is Palm Pre. Personally I think Android G1 is tied with iPhone, and BB Storm is barely behind. If it is a popularity contest or about the number of useless apps (I mean who downloads more than 30 to their phone anyway?) currently in it's app store then iPhone wins hands-down. Just go buy a Pre and after 29 days if you think iPhone is superior you can return it. But I guarantee you will toss your iPhone in the recycle pile.

and once they have those ppl hooked, they can get everyone with the new 4 megapixel, non overheating, multitasking iphone that will get to use most (not all) of the unsupported apps wanted by evryone. Then what happens? They give us a new iphone with a few more features. They can't make it perfect or we will stop buying iphones and honestly, they do not have to do too much to it. they just have to do enough to stay at the frnt of the pack and that is just what theyre doing. dnt hate its buziness

Yeah.. the battery life is just god awful. I have an iPod Touch and its basically the same, without all the extra calling and the camera and stuf, and the battery life on the iPod is just.. terrible. Ha, I was playing 1 app (Bowman, actually) and the battery was fully charged. After 20 minutes of playing it said "Battery is less than 20%" or somethin like that. Its pretty bad.

the phone is getting very old now, 2 new iphones with no body changes at all, same UI, 3.0 let down for the most part. I don't understand on how people were sold because it has a S on it? if a new phone comes out, its suppose to be faster and more have more RAM and cpu. HTC HERO!

AT&T is the king of dropped calls on 3g. not isolated to the iphone either. i'm a blackberry user, and i love my bold, but AT&T just sucks. what do you do though. tmo isn't much better as far as 3g is concerned. no way i go w/ verizon. there phone selection is weak...
