The 6S is still the best iPhone I’ve owned. It’s still had a headphone jack and a non-glass back. The only reason why I replaced it is because it ran out of memory space. I like it more than my 13 mini

*Reminiscing* *(Circa* *2007-2011)* I was 26 when iPhone was first announced on January 9, 2007. When I first saw that thing from PhoneScoop positioned in landscape showing a Beck album in CoverFlow, it blew my mind. I used to own a PSP phat and downloaded the iPhone commercials for it and would loop it over and over. I would frequent Howard Forums and most people voted Nokia N95 over the iPhone. The iPhone 4 was really the one that took my breath away. I remember holding it for the first time and thinking it's the most beautiful device I've ever held while heading to an Apple Store grand opening in Cerritos. When the iPhone 4 was leaked by Gizmodo around April 2010, people thought it was ugly and were hoping it was fake. When it was officially announced was when almost everyone was calling it beautiful. The irony. Until it became official and introduced by Steve Jobs (his final iPhone keynote) is when people stopped calling it ugly. Since the 4 on June 24, 2010 when I got my pre-ordered 4 from Best Buy in Cerritos, I never got that same "magical" feeling after getting a new iPhone. I can still remember I was #11 in Best Buy for pre-orders.. I can remember going to watch The Karate Kid (2010) after getting my Apple bumper from Apple Store that was packed with people. Got a free shirt too. Was that really already 12.5 years ago? I remember going to Disneyland like a month later and everyone was taking photos with an iPhone. Heck, I can remember getting an iPhone 2G on Oct 5, 2011 for only $90 at this nice Pizza Hut in Laguna Niguel. I saw 50/50 (2011) at Irvine Spectrum that's about cancer. Was raining. I go home and use my iPhone 2G to check GSMArena and there it states that Steve Jobs died. No wonder it was gloomy in SoCal that day. Nowadays, nobody camps out for iPhones anymore. The fun is gone and we'll never get it back. It's the same with camping out to get a PlayStation. Nobody does that anymore. When you walk into an Apple Store on a launch day circa 2007-2012, Genius employees will clap for you walking in or out. You felt special. Had free Chick-fil-A and water if you lined up outside. It will never really be the same again. I'm aware phones are much, much better now. But the feelings or experiences for them is not the same. Go watch that iPhone 5 launch ad and you'll know what I mean. That high you get from getting a new iPhone on launch about a decade ago will never be the same... We kinda got it again by X in 2017 celebrating 10 years of iPhone but we never really got it since. The last few iPhones were formalities. Check them out, buy them, review them, but the luster has emptied. Hence, why I'm going to wait every 10 years to buy only the anniversary iPhones. There's no point to upgrade as often as these techtubers. We're now getting less than 10% performance gains. I love my current phones now but I can say circa 2007-2014 was when I felt phones were still fresh and exciting. We saw the massive progression like going from 4th gen in video games into the 5th gen. From 2010-2013, it was already pretty significant. We got quad cores, 1080p, 4x more RAM with Android. We still had headphone jack, removable batteries from the Koreans, and microSD slot. We still had earphones and charger in the box. What's my favorite single year for phones? That's tough. I don't really have one. But standouts were 2004, 2008, 2011, 2013, 2016, and even 2021 when I got my Flip 3 and Razr 5G. All the 2016 phones I got happened in 2017. My least favorite were 2020 and 2015. I just generally hated 2020 as a year and 2015 had Snapdragon 810. I also didn't care for 2006. I think 2007 is when my interest for phones got re-ignited thanks to the first iPhone.

This is probably my favorite iPhone ever, either it or the first SE. It’s a shame they didn’t give it iOS 16, as it probably could have handled it. I have a 2017 iPad that has the same specs but an even larger screen which gets iPadOS 16. The 6s really was a phone of firsts and lasts, first one to have 3D Touch, but last to have physical home button and headphone jack. I first started using my 6s in 11th grade at the end of 2017, and I’ve had a total of 3 throughout my life since (currently have my original and a 16GB one I got for free). The A9 has aged exceptionally well and still is very useable today. While the design of the 6s may be considered outdated today, the materials and construction is very robust and rugged, the aluminum 7000 series provides a far more durable case for the phone. The 6s also is very repairable, as its seal is not nearly as tough as the 7 and above and it does not restrict changing components. I use an extra capacity battery in my 6s which allows it to have incredibly long battery life I could have only dreamed of in 2017. Overall, a fantastic iPhone release that may not have appeared special at launch but proved to be true force to be reckoned with compared to it’s competitors. Apple’s slogan for the phone at the time “The only thing that’s changed is everything” has been proven true.

I had the iphone 6s years ago when it was fresh, I recently had an 12 that i had for 2 and and half before i had to sell for reasons a couple weeks ago, just grabbed another 6s yesterday and it’s definitely still worth the money even in 2023, its still very much capable and up to par, and I believe it was definitely capable of handling ios 17. I’ll be using the 6s until i get the 15 pro max in a few months, I actually prefer the touch id unlock over face id, for anyone looking for a cheaper but other iphone, the 6s is still great in todays time.

iPhone 6s was my last Apple phone, I used Apple all my life but after the headphone jack removal on the iPhone 7 when it came time to upgrade I moved to android. I hated it at first but after adjusting I'm much happier, I loved my jailbroken iPhone 6s very much its nostalgic for me but honestly since jailbreaking is much harder these days even if they kept the headphone jack switching to android was worth it, because the jailbroken features is probably a big reason I loved the device and I just prefer the freedom as well. This was Apple's last great device imo

Ranking The Greatest iPhones All the Plus, Pro, and Max models are within the number that's ranked. If you see iPhone 6 ranked, the 6 Plus is part of that. Did not include any S-model, 5C, or SE. SE1 is a 5 in my mind. The SE2 and SE3 are 8. I'd have the XR with the XS which would be a X although it looks like an 11. I will separate the 7 and 8 from the 6 and 13 and 14 from the 12 even if they all look similar. 1. iPhone (2007) 2. iPhone X (2017), XS/XR are here 3. iPhone 4 (2010), 4S is here 4. iPhone 5 (2012), 5S & SE1 are here 5. iPhone 6 (2014), sold the most 6. iPhone 3G (2008), App Store 7. iPhone 11 (2019) 8. iPhone 13 (2021) 9. iPhone 12 (2020) 10. iPhone 14 (2022) 11. iPhone 7 (2016) 12. iPhone 8 (2017) We've had perhaps hundreds of iPhones when you consider all the S, SE, C, R, Plus, Pro, Pro Max with different storage and several color options out there. But in terms of design, it's less than a dozen unique designs.... That's 2G, 3G/3GS, 4/4S, 5/5S/SE1, 6/6S/7, 8/SE2/SE3, X/XS/11 Pro, XR/11, and 12/13/14. That's 9. The 6, 7, 8 should really be together. Do you really want to count 5C that's a 5 with a plastic back? Ok, 10. For my money, the only S-tier iPhones are 2G and X. They had the greatest influence and impact. But I'll throw in the 4 and 5 series which rank 1 and 2 in my mind for most beautiful iPhones ever made. The 4 and 5 is like getting Super Mario Bros. 3 (1988) and Super Mario World (1990). Debate which one looks better but you can't go wrong with either design. S-tier iPhones: 2G, 4/4S, 5/5S/SE1, X. You don't need to own more iPhones than that. Own a 2G, 4S, SE1, SE3, and X and you're set. All five have the top 5 best designs. Replace that X by 2028 when the 20 comes out. I know people who used iPhone 4 or 4S for over 10 years. They're not consumer suckers who watch techtubers all day. They'll use their phones until they break. Be like Chris Evans. Listen to Captain America. Make it last.

Reachability on double tap home button was the best implementation of reachability ever on any phone, I tried it on the 13 mini using swipe gestures and it sucked compared to the home button way, I would actually pick a new iPhone with a home button if they released one, I don't care about this screen to body ratio craze, I preferred the older iPhones with home button and no notch in the screen.

As an old fart of 70 yrs old, I love my I phone 6S, and by reading the comments, a lot of people feel the same. I love the home button, and head phone jack, and don't really want to learn how to use another one. I have better things to do, than play Video games or whatever these guys do with them. My phone now has a screen that has pooped off from the frame, and from what I read, it's from the old battery getting old, and it expands, causing the screen to pop up over the frame, and not sit flush. Now, I'm not sure what to do ? Do I get it fixed ? or buy something else ? I do get attached to things, and would rather get it fixed -- I think ? I can't imagine how you can have an Iphone with no home button ?

Too bad Apple makes it hard to install emulators. The A15 still outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 in single-core. Seems like you should only get from A14 (iPhone 12 series) and up but I hate those flat sides and prefer the stainless steel and rounded sides from X/XS/11. Put a 13 mini next to the X and it's not as classy. The X/XS/11 Pro felt premium. The improvements from A9 to A10 was quite a leap. The A9 GPU had a clock speed of 650 MHz. It went to 900 MHz with the A10 Fusion. And CPU clock speed improved by nearly 500 MHz. Going from A10 to A11 was the smallest upgrade at least based from CPU max clock speed. Even based from Geek Bench 5 tests, A10 got a 46% gain over the A9 in single-core. A11 got 18% gain. A12 got 22%, A13 got 19%, A14 got 20%, A15 only got 8%, and A16 got 9%. The last two SoCs had the worst gains from single-core. Hence, Life Is Strange looks way better on my iPhone 7 than SE1. Better textures. Longer battery life. Doesn't overheat like crazy like my SE1 does. Gain was a massive 490 MHz in CPU, 250 MHz in GPU, and 46% in single-core. I don't understand Simple Alpaca's concept of trashing the SE3 daily but then praising INFERIOR iPhones like the X, XR, and 11. The A15 blows away the SoC they have. We're talking anywhere between 590-860 MHz in CPU max speed. Simple Alpaca will try to convince us that paying $479 for an iPhone SE with A15 is a terrible deal and a rip-off when it still trounces Androids with 8+ Gen 1 for double the price. 🤣 Clueless kid. A15 will be a beast for years to come. Better than the iPhone X, XR, and 11 with inferior chips that you keep rambling about every day. People paid $700 for a Snapdragon 765G on a Pixel 5. I paid $500 for a Razr 5G with the same SoC on Sept 16, 2021. For me to get an SE3 for $150 in mint condition and 100% battery health is practically stealing from my part. SE3 is not such a rip-off when you realize it has an A15 chip and it will have very long software support. I decided NOT to get the 13 mini even if I do sell my X. I really don't like the 12/13/14 design and the 12/13 minis looks "cheap". Yeah, my SE3 is cheaper but it actually feels better to hold and is only 4 grams heavier. I really didn't like the boxy design of my 12 mini. Was fine back in 2010-2016 with the 4/4S/5/5S/SE1 when they were still compact but not in this decade. Seems like the best UPGRADE PATTERN when you see the most massive gains is every 4 years (2016, 2020, 2024?). But with Moore's Law, it may start to get longer. I'll upgrade my iPhone every 10 years (X, 20, 30). Once you own a lot of phones like me, this "hobby" loses its luster like anything in life. I don't expect phones to be cool forever. They're just things to dispose in life. Not my nirvana. I may still keep the iPhone 4S I got off eBay knowing full well I'll rarely use it. Will be next to my BlackBerry Bold 9900 and nearly 9-year-old Xiaomi Mi 3 I'll only use a few times per year. The last iPhone I'll buy within the next few weeks is the original from 2007. Then I would own all the iPhone designs I've ever liked... 2G (only design of its kind) 4S (best of the 4 design) SE1 (best of the 5 design) 7 (matte black is the best of the 6 design) X (anniversary iPhone) SE3 (best of the 8 design) I personally think 11 Pro looks slightly better than X due to the frosted glass backs although it got quite heavy. Apple copied what Google used on their Pixel 3s and 4s. You can still have a matte finish with a glass back. No thanks to a bulky SE4 with the design of the XR/11 in 2024. SE3 will be the last of its kind with home button, Touch ID, sim tray, and below 140 mm in height and below 150 g in weight. The 8 design is the most underrated as if the 6/7 had a baby with the 4/4S. I love my Product RED SE3, my first red smartphone and red Apple. While I believe the iPhone X is the most important iPhone since the original, it's still not more important than the original. The X really didn't bring anything new. We had OLED, glass backs, wireless charging, and swipe gestures before. And Face ID is still a love or hate thing as more people prefer using their fingerprint to unlock. I think the more important iPhones were the 3G or 4S if based soley from software. The 3G brought an App Store. This was key to locking up users to Apple's ecosystem. Then the 4S didn't just bring Siri, it had iOS5 that introduced iMessage which is the single greatest factor on why people stay with iPhone. iMessage became the new BBM and Americans' WhatsApp.

Best way to save money on older iPhones. Is to check how long an IOS can be upgraded for. (To get the most use out of a cheaper one) I got the XR on sale at Walmart for 180 new. I used to always have the new phones. As an adult that pays for himself you need to budget. My 2 cents.

I had a choice getting a $60 iPhone 6S or 7 in mint condition from OfferUp and I'm glad I got the 7. Yes, I would like headphone jack but I already own an SE1 with the same A9 chip and bought Sony WH-1000XM4. Getting a 6S when I already have an SE1 felt redundant. I didn't realize until yesterday the massive performance gains we got going from A9 to A10 Bionic. We're talking 490 MHz faster in CPU and 250 MHz in GPU. The next most significant went from A13 to A14 but A14 can get warmer more and probably throttles due to the higher clock speed. Battery suffered with the iPhone 12 series. My SE3 is so underrated. I can play Genshin Impact with no lag or overheating. Plays games in lower temperatures. Doesn't need to strain it's GPU due to pushing few pixels, lower resolution, and smaller display. Battery is only 2,018 mAH and it will last longer with gaming than a 12 mini that has a bigger battery.

imo if u have $50 for a phone, its a great deal. the only downsides are poor camera, inability to play powerful games and most importantly - very poor battery. if u dont use phone that much, but you still want to check something once in a while, you'll get a day of usage. otherwise get a powerbank or powerbank case.

I own this phone and I can only say it’s the worst iPhone to own now. The battery drains quick, it turns off unexpectedly, my text messages are delayed, it someone freezes and crashes apps, and I have to keep it plugged in most of the time. It’s old and I’ve had it for a long time now so you really can’t expect better from it. It’s practically unusable and I’m stuck with this phone until I can afford an upgrade.

It’s not worth it. I have been using it for 4 years now and in 2023 is a very bad phone. 6s was a great phone back to 2015-2016 period, there’s no way it’s worth it now in 2023.
