neosinan1 autocorrect is automatic with apple. If you want to type a word that it doesnt recognize so you need to change the word. Sometimes your sentence missed a word which you need to fill in in the middle of the sentence. Then you just forcetouch on the keyboard to move your cursor through all your written text. Way easier than holding your finger on the screen on the place of the error.

Brent Verheij Android had these feature since it was written first (minus force touch part, you just need to long press instead) and I know these feature on iOS as well. But Whatever happens cursor need to be where I touch it. that is simple. That is what Steve Job always said.

neosinan1 I prefer apple over android, that is true. I'm not an android hater or apple fanboy or anything. Android has a lot more features than IOS but they both have their strong and weaker points. I am just saying to linus that there was an easier way to control the cursor while typing. It also helps with one hand usage. You are right about that the cursor needs to be where you clicked, and I agree to that. But you can always get the cursor right using forcetouch on the keyboard. I think we get each other now.

EverythingApplePro did a depth test of the Iphone, it survived 25 ft or so, Samsung died completely on 20 ft. The IP rating is underrated for the Iphone 7, I believe.

Also, they removed the headphone jack because the headphone jack was getting in the way of the new hardware for the phone. They couldn't fit it with the taptic engine and the large processor so they threw it out and gave it a large battery. I'm pretty sure the Iphone 7 is the best phone in specs, outperforms Samsung with the A10 system.

The headphone jack was removed to boost the sales of apple's new bluetooth ear buds (and probably future bluetooth devices). But they got delayed, which is why they lowered their profit projections for this quarter and the next. (Though they tried to say it was due to not making enough 7 plus devices. Apple has been in the game far too long to screw up something like that. But nice cover up, most people will believe it.)

you must be an oldfart, then. I'd argue about 75% of the people I know (I'm a college student) use non-apple headphones even though about 95% of the people I know have iPhones. I have wireless earbuds which I use daily, but I also very frequently use my wired (expensive) headphones while I study. It's just an inconvenience that apple did NOT have to do for any legitimate reason, and has lost several customers because of it (including me, once I buy my next phone).

Phone resolution tends to be the gripe of people who base all of their choices and judgments on numbers. In practice, the lower it is the more snappy everything else can perform. As long as the screen objectively looks good - which it does - there's absolutely no need to bump up the resolution in exchange for things that ARE actually noticeable. Stuff like performance & battery life.

Thing is, you're not playing at the equivalent of 800x600. If we're talking monitors, it's more like playing Crysis at 1080p vs 4k. Sure, there may be a benefit to visuals on the latter, but it's definitely not worth playing at sub 20 FPS vs the 60+ FPS you'd get on 1080p. Once hardware reaches the point that the difference in performance is negligible, AKA 4k gaming at 60+ FPS using the analogy, is the point at which I'd agree it's worth it to bump the res.

I get what you're saying. Problem is common assessment of what reality actually is. Yours could be different than mine, and we are both right. Challenge for marketing is to convince masses. if they dont say its best, why would anyone buy it? If everyone says its the best, WHAT do you buy? If enough people are convinced that BEST is the reality, someone who does not know technology will think that many people cannot be wrong, therefore its the safe bet. Further, if device did everything it said it would, there is nothing wrong to stick with it, or as you put it - become a fan. Besides, people like to talk shit often based on made up facts just to start something. It can be fun to listen and read. On the points about the price - top makers are in apple pricing territory, creeping into 650-1k mark. Just look at new Google pixel. World is less black n white and more gray than you think. There is logic to that decision. Why do you need 1080p on a 5" device? I can literally see no difference on my phone (5.2" 1080p) when switching between 720p and 1080p on the same video. It's all about the pixel density. And anything more than Retina is unnecessary really. Same reason why there's really no need to get 15" laptops with more than 1080p. At a normal viewing distance, I really can't see the individual pixels on my 27" 1440p monitor. So why have 1440p on phones? Bragging rights, but no actual benefit.

Holy crap. Linus just listed almost all of my gripes about iOS within a 2 minute windows. Sometimes my older relatives give me their iPhone to switch back a setting they accidentally changed while playing around with the phone and it takes me FOREVER to find it. And ohhhhh that cursor part. Nothing annoys me more than that. I need to go to the web to find the setting to switch it back. And god forbids I make a typo on Safari. A tap never works. A long press to more the cursor seems idiotic.

For dailies, client meetings etc. Also tons of film students use it as their only work station. Linus (and everyone else): the best feature with force touch is the new way to manipulate the cursor when you type. Next time you are typing, press into the keyboard and suddenly you can move your cursor around like it's a mouse pointer. Hands down, this is the best solution I have ever seen for cursor manipulation! Give it a try. (The main reason I mention this is because you had a gripe about the cursor in this video. This is one of those hidden features that is a selling point for me)

If you 3D touch the keypad, the curser will move according to your finger as you move your finger along the keypad. E.g. 3D touch the keypad, they will be tactile feedback, and the qwerty keys will fade, move your finger left or right, as you do so, the curser will move left or right along the sentence it is located in. Therefore, you can get precise curser navigation/location.

For me the mistake is not the removal of the 3.5 mm jack, it's keeping the Lightning port, they should have gone for USB C.

Endothermic Madness I always use a headphone jack but only for my use, never aux out to speakers or whatever. Sure it's bad for charging and listening at the same time but if it was cheaper I'd definitely consider the new iPhone because of it's build quality. Like I said: "only if", so this would be a viable choice imo but it's never going to be very affordable in comparison to other devices that exist.

Arkaney why would it need a similar price to OnePlus? The iPhone 6s is already faster than any Android flagship right now because of the a9 chip and nvme storage. Plus OnePlus has some of the worst support there is.

THEASSOSIATION I don't follow the phone market too closely but I assumed that OnePlus's ideology based behind making affordable, quality smart phones. Sure there are many better phones than the iPhone 7 when compared with price, support, hardware etc. but I was just stating it would be nice if it was cheaper.

This might sound funny but... there has been some tests on waterproofing 7 vs s7.. and somehow apple's ip67 did a better job compared to samsung's ip68.. don't take my word on it and just watch the tests yourself lol

Rock GamingTV You know, they run the tests before giving it an ip rating... i'm almost certain if the s7 was claiming to have a water proofing it didn't have, they would have been forced to take it down (the ratings aren't assigned by the phone manufacturers)... Long story short, I don't believe you, I believe the ratings they have been assigned. If you insist, you can pass on the sources (I noticed you conveniently left them out) and i'll have a look at it, but unless it is real tests that are conducted as true experiments... I just don't believe you.

I can tell you from experience; once you go wirelss for your phone, you'll never go back (if you got good headphones). I had the Plantronics Backbeat 902+. 7 h battery life and incredibly good sound considering they were open (did not block outside noise) and only cost 60 bucks. Not having to worry about getting the cable caught up into random objects, fear of breaking the cord, or just destroying the cable in your pockets is wonderful. Currently I don't have wireless, but that's because the Plantronics broke (I dropped it too many times into the floor, not their fault), and I haven't had the money to spend on new ones as I have had to prioritize other things. But I am currently looking at the bone conducting Aftershockz titanium. Give proper wireless headphones/earphones a go and then come back.

Despite your price points being off, the RAM part just shows how "well-coded" or optimized apps for iOS are. What apple can do in 1-3 gigs of memory and 2-4 cores, require 4 gigs minimum on Android with 4-8 cores. And we're seeing 10 cores coming in for some android devices. How badly coded apps are these which require more memory and processors than a desktop compute, and still the performance the phones lag once you have more than 3 apps open. I have never seen performance deterioration happen on a iOS device, while my supposedly 4x faster android device stutters along.

This still the best phone on the market. Nothing faster out! Great pictures! Doesn't get too warm! Tons of cases already & aftermarket accessories. You can't tell the difference between the screens either. I had Android the last 5 years ending with the Note 7. Both platforms are great, I just think over time iOS stays smooth & responsive. Updates are never ending on iOS is also a plus.
