Not all of us are that young. 56 here but still a technology enthusiast and I just upgraded my mother from an iPhone 4 to an iPhone SE 2016 edition for the same 3G phase out reason. I had purchased the used iPhone SE used for $80 two years ago knowing that eventually she would have to replace here beloved iPhone 4 and that the small size was very important to her so I had one ready and waiting and used it as an extra pocket camera to play with like it was an iPod Touch for a couple years waiting for her to finally give up on clinging to her old phone that if it ain't broke, don't replace it.

@derger67532 жыл бұрын
The one reason that Apple’s sales started to decline these 2-3 years is probably because their older models like XS is still very good. I’m using XS Max now and it works absolutely fine that I find no reason to change it for a newer model and I probably keep it a few more years. Some of my friends are even still using Iphone 6 or 7 and they still functioning perfectly. Apple’s smart phones are expensive but the quality is undeniably great.

The phone still works beautifully on the last version of iOS that it can do, and I used it as a backup phone for a few days when my XS got waterdamaged and I had to wait until next paycheck to get a replacement. Still good. I miss a thumbprint scanner. FaceID has never been as good imo. And fuck wireless charging, I want a metal back again so I don’t have to worry about the back shattering (which is how my XS became susceptible to water). The 5S did a lot right.

haha, yeah, though they are both so good now that it doesn't really matter what you pick only if you are either nitpicky or have some interconnected system with your other devices. As for the features... I've got a Samsung Galaxy S10 and it does all that I want it to do... I don't really see myself upgrade it to a newer phone for a very long long time... maybe if Tesla comes out with their new solid state battery technology that would revolutionize phones to get enough power for a week on one charge.... but other then that... yeah the small little 'storage, camera and brain updates' are not really enough to get me to buy a new one for a long time; besides what am I to do with it? I ain't using it as a gaming phone and all things/apps I want it to run; run pretty decent smooth and good... I did had an iPhone before but with my latest update I was kinda sick of Genius Bar's 'fuck off and buy a new one' policy combined with Apple making repairs from 3th parties nearly impossible; so I was like 'fuck off Apple, I go Android!'

@@bd8843 Good chance to make a couple of videos then. One for Samsung, one for Xiaomi etc. As an Android user(don't like overexpensive stuff at bad price/value so I was never meant to be an iPhone user) though each of us had a different experience switching threw devices unlike iPhone users that simply had what Apple gave them. When the first smartphones launched I was still using my Sony Ericsson K800i cypershot for another 2-3 years. It was no smartphone but the pictures were the best at the time and you could still play videos on it or play mp3 etc. Then started with Android with a Samsung Young I think it was called. Just a cheap 100 euro entrance to Android really. Had it for a while until cheap manufacturers started making strides in Android. Got some unknown brand phone called "Prestige" because of good price and features. The Android was stock and the phone was metal with a nice glass screen while everyone was still mostly doing plastic. Not very powerful though and it quickly became useless and stuck in a boot circle. Then tried ulephone power while looking for a big battery phone. It was doing what it was supposed I guess and I smashed the screen to pieces after just 10 months, so my fault there. That was the time(2017) that I started looking for a big screen phone and discovered this brand that was making ways with decent devices and more professional built than the usual cheap smartphone makers. It was called Xiaomi. Bought my Mi Max 2 and never looked back because it was great and I still have it and it works great still. Then got a Mi max 3(that am currently writing this from) after that the Redmi 9 Pro and now I rock a Redmi 10 Pro as well. Redmi 9 Pro was probably the least exciting of them because sound from mono speaker was worse and screen wasn't as great as the big 6.9 screen of my Mi Max 3. I went for it because Mi max line was dropped but the 10 Pro reinstate my trust with a great 120hz oled, awesome stereo speakers and the most impressive camera I have seen in such a relatively low priced device. So generally I am now sticking with Xiaomi since all the devices I got from them were more than good enough at amazing prices(all of the different models together probably cost me less threw the years than buying a single over 1000 flagship) and quite reliable since all devices still work great. I also have a Samsung A20e that I got as a gift. Not impressive but I use it whenever I want to take with me a small sized device since it is like an iPhone mini in size.

I worked on the "discoloration" issue and can tell you this was a major issue top-down from SJ. The result was that color standards and rigorous testing was implemented that continues to this day, with "Apple" versions of pigments/materials and much testing of color, luster, reflectivity and texture controlled. Apple sweats these details.

I remember that the first iPhones (1, 3G and 3GS) were "good, but..." because there was something missing to make a full package. Then the iPhone 4 came out and that was a fully developed phone. I bought it and everyone who was looking at it was surprised, much more than they could be today for a 13 Pro Max 1TB, for example. It has everything of a modern phone: selfie camera, flash, games, a wonderful display, compact size.

At the time though it was normal for a phone to not have an app store and stuff so it was more typical of a phone at the time. I remember first holding an iPhone back when I was a freshman in high school. It was the 3GS and I remember being just blown away by it. I knew it was the future . I remember thinking to myself , “now this is what a phone should be like” . It felt sexy and sleek and I was really impressed by the screen and apps. I couldn’t afford it so waited until the 4s and finally got one and loved it. Every since then I have had an iPhone and just got the 13 pro max and I’m really impressed by it.

Lucky bastard, my mom said I was not going to have an iPhone before her. Also I wouldn't have been able to get one on my own because ATT has always been a bitch getting approved credit with and I was fresh out of HS in 2007 with no stable job yet. Now days I have ATT but it's shit service. TMobile has actually had better overall service in my city. Sprint went shit when they were bought out by that Chinese company. Edited to add: I didn’t even mention how much I loved my 4s. Which I did. I still think it was damn near perfectly designed. I loved the way it felt in both my hand, and pocket. Compared to my OG Droid (which I still have and will never get rid of), or the Samsung phone it replaced, the 4s was like stepping into the future. God, I miss 3D touch. I had hard time letting go of my XS because of that. It just gave the phone a different layer of interactivity.

it's still on the phones, what do you mean?
@speedracer62333 жыл бұрын
@@samuellewis3991 Its been replaced by Haptic Touch since the iPhone 11. In my opinion 3D Touch made the phone more responsive, now you have to wait while long pressing instead of just pressing harder.

I'm stuck with my iPhone Xs because of that, I can't get rid of 3D touch.

How do you activate the camera/torch on lock screen without 3d touch? On my Samsung it is just a press, so I had to disable it because it gets activated accidentally all the time. 3D touch fixed that because it only activates with a heavy press. Do you long press on iPhone 11?
@hillstones3 жыл бұрын
Most developers never supported 3D Touch, so you wasted time pressing on the phone display only to have nothing happen. Never even used it. At least the Haptic Touch works.

Excellent overview. The nostalgia is real. Shockingly it shows I have spent a lot of money with Apple, getting the 3GS, 4S, 5S, 7, X and now 13 Pro. With price increases the gaps between phones definitely gets longer.

Same but I had: 4,5,6s, and right now X. Thinking about 13 Pro or wait until 14 Pro.

@@seife41 Iphones are getting somewhat cheaper with the mini phones only being around 700$ compared to the X being 1000$. Most phone manufacturers are making their phones more and more expensive, so it isn’t an apple specific issue, and i prefer ios to android.
