Thank you. Just replaced my kid's iPhone 7 battery, and the process went smoothly thanks to your tutorial. For people doing it for the first time: 1) if using a hair dryer, don't hesitate to do it a lot. I did 2 minutes at first, it wasn't enough, had to do a second pass before I could see "results". In total I did 8 minutes of hair dryer around the whole phone, 4 passes of 2 minutes each 2) there are "suction cups" you can buy online, with a handle, and suction cups on both sides that really help applying the right amount of force when opening the screen. Not sure I'd have been able to go through the initial steps without that. Opening the screen really is the hard part. Once that's done, following the steps and paying attention is enough. As others have said, there are tons of tutorials on how to replace batteries but this one really had all the good details, critical for beginners! (including how to put it back)

Thank you so much for this tutorial. It helped me a lot. The biggest struggle was to open the cover and remove the battery because the tapes both got torn. I almost gave up! I just finished my battery replacement. I heated the back of the phone with a hair dryer, I needed a sharper metal prying tool to start the separation process then used the plastic tool. I did not remove the screen, I was careful not to put pressure on the ribbons and left the suction cup on to hold up the screen so it did not try to separate from the body very much. I did not remove the taptic machine as in other videos. That saved a lot of time. Trust Me the fewer screws you remove the better!! They are the size of a grain of sand and require a very steady hand to reinstall!!! Extremely easy to lose drop or misplace! My inner tape strip broke off at the start point so I pried up the battery at that end (from the outside) to regain the grip and pulled it right out. The new battery works great.
@ScandiTech5 жыл бұрын
Hi there, Awesome! Congratulations on successfully replacing the battery! Yes, I agree. Removing fewer screws can definitely save a lot of time. I'd like to say that the more troublesome part of the process is the removal of the adhesive. If the taptic engine is left installed, there isn't much area for the adhesive to be pulled out and the chances of it ripping is higher. If it does rip, it will also be easier for the user to remove the battery without the taptic engine. Some people may find it easy to work with the taptic engine installed but we try to address our guide for the general users. Regards, John Scandi Tech

I just successfully completed this repair and bought the ScandiTech kit on Amazon. This video is by far the most detailed I have seen, and convinced me to try the battery replacement. Just a few additional tips if I may. 1) Go SLOW.....REAL SLOW 2) If you feel nervous before trying this....that is good, you will be more focused 3) A magnifying glass will help immensely. 4) The screws you are removing are MICROSCOPIC.......take EXTREME care when removing them. 5) I did not remove the 2 parts below the battery for adhesive strip removal. (I tried, stripped one of the screws)....so, I peeled the strip off the back of the battery, then SLOWLY pulled them. The adhesive strips under the battery are EXTREMELY elastic.......you will not tear them if you go SLOW 6) Notice how many times i have typed SLOW so far???? HEED THE WARNING 7) Plan on spending some time on this repair......and make sure you are in a quiet place. 8) Watch this video as you attempt the repair. Great price, battery works perfect.......thanks ScandiTech for the video, and the reasonable price on the battery. Stephen

This is the best video I could find on replacing the iPhone 7 battery. Well done and a clear speaking voice. I wish he had shown how to install the adhesive on the frame, but I figured it out. And, initially, I tried peeling the wrong side of the plastic on the adhesive for the battery and stretched it a bit. The upper single plug cover can be reversed and during re-installation I had trouble figuring out which way it went. The plug on my battery was twisted and diffuse to install. And I didn’t get the haptic plug in right and had to go back and redo both of them. Getting those tiny plugs back in was the hardest part for me. Getting those small screws in was tough due to the magnetism of the screws or the screwdriver. But it is back together and works. Thanks for your help.

But, I’m a retired Optician so small bits and pieces don’t bother me, and it was time to straighten my backbone. Getting through the old seal was the biggest hurdle, 1 hour at least doing battle. Great video👍. As mentioned, make sure to keep note of the screws as you disassemble the phone. There is one longer screw amongst the 4 that secures the shield cover for the battery/ screen ribbon cable connectors. For those unaware during disassembly, the longer screw is located in the screw hole nearest to the RHS edge (RHS) of the phone screen removed at 5:50.

Thank you for this tutorial! The part about heating up the edges (I used a hair dryer) helped SO much. And the part that had me sweating was the sticky adhesive under the battery. I used my long pry tool and pulled both pieces of adhesive just long enough to wrap around the tool. Then I kept slowly pulling, then rolling it, then pulling it a little more, and rolling it. You could use a pencil for this method as well. It took a while longer but ensured the adhesive wouldn’t break.

When you take apart the screen to adhesive comes off as well and can't be reused. It's not necessary to put the waterproof seal back if you don't require any waterproofing protection. Keep in mind that even replacing the waterproof seal doesn't mean that the phone is 100% waterproof again..
@gillesbkf43154 жыл бұрын
If you don’t put back the water resistant seal, it will take the dust from everywhere and eventually accumulate in front of the cameras after 2 or 3 months only ! Leaving you with “cloudy & blurry” pictures only. Basically it will catch dust faster than an iPhone 5s or previous models.

Thanks for the thorough video, I was able to replace my battery. I did have one hiccup, I tried pulling the pink side of the adhesive strips first, which made both strips stick together, impossible to separate. I lucked out that a local repair shop gave me a new set of strips, and I was able to complete the installation a few hours later. Personally I thought prying the screen off was the hardest part, the rest was pretty easy (not counting my messing up the adhesive strips). I couldn't find a Scanditech battery for an iPhone 7 on Amazon, so I used a Daxtromin instead. It was $19.99.

@RiffRaffMama.2 жыл бұрын
@@adaml6793 If you don't have the proper tools you should really not be pulling your phone apart. If you don't have a proper metal or plastic spudger (pry tool), then any kind of razor type blade will do. I used an exacto knife. You could also carefully use a small _flat_ screwdriver, but hold it by the metal part, no more than 1/4 up so if you slip you have a better chance of not causing internal damage. I broke a cable once in my 5S trying to remove the battery with a blade. I slipped and cut clean through a cable at the top, so be careful of how long the exposed part of your screwdriver is.
@RiffRaffMama.2 жыл бұрын
Don't be made to believe you have to remove all of the parts he did. The shield over the battery connector and the Taptic engine is _all_ you need to remove. You can do this whole procedure in less than 5 minutes if you don't fart around removing (and potentially damaging) unnecessary parts.
@arturnaumiuk81356 жыл бұрын

Unless they have the steady hand of a brain surgeon, some excellent lighting (i used a head torch) and a magnifier, most people will probably screw it up. I did this successfully but next time I change an iPhone battery I will probably take it to a repair shop - it's not a job I enjoyed. Note that what's not mentioned in this vid is that you do need to remove the whole screen section as shown, otherwise you will not be able to apply the new seal gasket. Getting all the remnants of the old seal off is pretty important if the new seal is to work. It takes a lot of patience and use a plastic tool, not a metal one. Also make sure the battery connector is the last thing you connect. Don't go plugging screen components back to the main board when the battery is live - you'll kill your phone

I botched the reapplication of the waterproof adhesive. No matter what I did the sealant wouldn’t separate from the backing without breaking into blobs. Aside from that it went fine.

Hi there, Yeah the waterproof adhesive can get tricky to install but I'm glad to know it went well. I just want to say that despite having a new waterproof adhesive, it's still not 100% guarantee that it is waterproof. The original was installed accurately by a machine and even so, Apple will not cover water damage in their warranty. So still, keep it away from liquid.

My home button stopped working after replacing my iPhone’s 7 battery, and a message telling “couldn’t activate Touch ID on this device” appears. What could I do? Home button doesn’t seems to have been damaged, I inspected it closely and the flex cables look good. May there be any solution?
@RiffRaffMama.2 жыл бұрын
Did you replace the home button with a new one? Because touch ID won't work if you do. That said, I had the same problem with my 6S, but once I opened it up again and made sure it was sitting just right and the screws were in deep enough it worked fine again, so try that.

Trying to replace my battery but I am worried about melting my phone. I am using a heat gun and when I try to raise the cover of the phone, nothing happens. How hot can I get it before I damage the phone?

Do I have to remove the screen completely?
@RiffRaffMama.2 жыл бұрын
No. Absolutely not. You can do this whole procedure in under 5 minutes if you don't fart around removing (and potentially damaging) parts you just don't need to.

I'm having trouble getting the screws out to switch the camera and home screen any tips?
@ScandiTech4 жыл бұрын
Hi there, The screws shouldn't be too tight that it is impossible to remove. If it's hard to remove, the problem might be because the screws are stripped. Please contact support for assistance.

Hi there, I understand as it really is hard to open up. Good way to do this is to heat up the edges so that the adhesives soften up which will make it easier to pull up. If you are still having difficulties opening up the screen, please contact us at support@scandi.tech Cheers!

I can not get past step two - loosen the screen from the phone. I used the hair dryer. Tried to get tweezers between the screen and the phone. No luck. Any suggestions?

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear about the problem. It can get a little stubborn especially if this is the first time your phone is opened. There are no other workaround for this but as mentioned in our video. The key is to soften the adhesive with the hair dryer. You can tell if you're heating it too much if it's too hot to touch.

I got stuck at 2:15. Either the screws on my iPhone are damaged or I'm just really bad at fixing things. Can i at least get a refund on this repair kit?

ScandiTech thanks for the reply. I tried a bunch of methods like using tape to rip it off, using a magnet and finally just pulling at the phone slightly and the screws finally flew out

After replacing the battery, does the phone lose its water resistance?
@mattygaga20133 ай бұрын
Yes, if you don't use the waterproof adhesive to seal it all back up.

Just bought this, with a heat gun! I'm wondering, when the time comes to replace my battery, will I need to remove my screen protector?
@haiderahmed-khan20933 жыл бұрын
@Miskatonic Alumni Most likely yes, the heat gun would just melt the adhesive of the screen protector
@ScandiTech3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, Any adhesive will loosen with heat. If you use a heat gun, the screen protector may get loose too.

Thank you for your video. One thing I had to add was the Wagner Heat Gun as I had to do the "pry of shame". lol

The screws on the inside won't come out with the 3 point screwdriver . Any suggestions
@ScandiTech4 жыл бұрын
Hi there, That's strange. The only reason why the screws won't come out is that the screws are stripped. If so, you can use a flat rubber band on top of the screws and use the screwdriver normally. The rubber band will act as a grip for the screwdriver. If this doesn't work, please contact support.
