I had the same issue on an iPhone SE rear camera connector. One pin would read 0.071 in diode mode (I think it was the pp1v8 line) so the camera would not work. When I went into the camera app and would press the switch camera button a few times it would all of a sudden start working... I switched 2 caps and a filter on that line from a known good board and saw no difference. Concluded that it must be a CPU short. This video was helpful Jason!

Yeah! I’ve got an iP7 here with exactly the same symptoms. I still have it after the owner donated it for parts. I’ve kept it complete. Turns out someone at a house party put it in a microwave oven for a small period of time as a drunken joke. It boots and operates fine, just no image which is intermittent. The logic board has an internal short under the one of the coils and has been so hot it cooked the solider. I’m just wondering in your case if the power button lines have been effected in the same manner? Maybe a grounding issue with other internal logic board line breaks? I guess the coils would act as antennas when being cooked in a microwave? Who knows what other damage exists. As always Jason a great video from you my friend. Keep them coming? As always a BIG 👍 from me!

Didn't try changing out the coil. Wire insulation melted - possibly caused partial intermittent short affected by heat
@TheXmenForce6 жыл бұрын
Jason, Sometimes Bad Coils do That, screen comes on,but after a few minutes when coil gets hot,it fails and you loose image.

Dam, that is odd, i think the pcb damage was likely playing with you :-(. That data line could be too close and getting carbon shorted, also depending on the pressure used on the pcb at the time of testing. The old screen sounds like it has a semi damaged data line, with a full amplitude of signal it would likely work. All guessing on my part lol. You are still the king of phone repair, as far as im concerned :-D :-D
@EPiCxPS36 жыл бұрын
Good logic, he should remove the coil and dig underneath it, it's possible with all the heat caused by VDD mains short that the 90_MIPI_AP_TO_LCM_DATA1_P dataline is now half shorted to ground from underneath, especially if it doesnt work during boot(high current) but works more normally during idle(lower current) the short to your data line may only block the display when your current is high enough, this could also just be the CPU but it's worth the shot perhaps.

Thanks for the information and nice work, it really helps a lot of people

No experience and totally guessing, but maybe it is a liquid short that dried up and became a partial short, ie, a delamination with liquid between the PCB layers.

What about if you press down the CPU?? Thanks for everything Jason. Check my email.
@Spector_NS5_RD6 жыл бұрын
Doesn't that suck? When you go hunting for a shorted line, looking to bypass it with a jumper, only to find out the other end is under SOC/CPU? Which is most of the time with data lines.

I got mine from unionrepair.com and ipadrehab.ecwid.com or www.mendonipadrehab.com/supply-store is their old site.. I'm not sure which one would be best.

Hi, i have an issue with an iPhone 8 that is overheating to the point of hurting you fingers when battery is plugged in(Mind you the battery is brand new), it seems to come from the middle of the board Nand/charge IC maybe i have no clue, do you have any pointers to where i should look? i am thinking of leaving it to a shop soon so they can figure it out because i dont have the equipment to evaluate the issue but maybe i can give them some pointers so it doesn't get so god damn expensive with them searching for fault haha :) Best Regards

hello, thanks for your videos, they are very interesting, I'm learning so many things, I'm not very good at electronics, I would like to ask you a question, I had never used a hot air station before, I've done a bit of practice on some cards, but I have a mysterious problem with an iPhone 6, it has jumped a capacitor C200 that caused the black screen (I think), I should solder, I say I should because I have many days I try but I can not pay it, because any temperature and ventilation of the hot air station the pond does not melt, I can not understand why, can you help me? thank you

Im 100% sure thst u2 is connected 100% ok. Can u give me a little thought pls, im on a big pressure from costumer. TY

@ststele6 жыл бұрын
In the beginning of iPhone 6+ touch failures, I replaced 2 phones. One was my fault and the other was not my fault. I kick myself in the ass over both of them because the one that was my fault, I later learned how to fix and the one that wasn't my fault, I later learned was not my fault.
