The reason this fails is the feedback circuit and the lack of resistance on the pground pads. If the 1v feedback is missing then the smps5 output rises to Vdd main voltage . The ground jumper is to prevent the feedback loop from failing and bbpmu sending the output of >4v down a 1v0 line eventally blowing the modem.

By the way, due of that flaw, the damage can be different. Sometimes it lead to us believe this is one of the reason why they started to take Intel Baseband only in certain models. XS 😂

I think he did it for protection. -if the value of resistor is more close to zero then partial-short after that resistor can heat it too much and beak it or that source line where that resistor is connected can be pulled down with that partial short. So for protection he used high resistance, so even when the ic will do a full-dead-short then it will not affect the source line (on capacitor) because of that resistor and higher resistance.

I didn't understand, in the video you show that even if there is a short you have 1V stable on the capacitor. Why spin on another power supply? If you do it is because the low impedance makes you sit pp_1v0_smps but in the video it remains stable. thanks for your videos
