You would have seen the iPhone green dot in photos. Its really annoying. Well, with iOS 15, Apple have fixed it, sort of.
iPhone photos have had green dots in them for ages and it has really been a bug bear for so many people. Finally the green dot has been fixed.

Shayne, you describe the green dot as lens flare. When I examine the camera lenses on my 13 pro with a magnifying glass I can see a green dot in the lens, not on the surface. I suspect that is the green dot in my photos of the night moon.

I use Live photos quite a lot, but unless you're on a tripod, the images are not as Sharp as a normal still image. Picking out a still from a live image is better but still not as good as a a real still.

Hi, Shane. Thanks for the great videos. I really like your presentation style. I have the lens flare problem on my iPhone Xs Max. Is there any way of reducing/removing lens flare "green shadow" on videos? I'm sure that the iPhone Xs Max is more sensitive to these than my old iPhone 8+. Is it a case that as the definition of the cameras improve, they also become more susceptible to lens flare? Many thanks.

I doubt they will be able to fix video with software, they havent fixed the regular photos, only live, so I doubt they will get to video.

Glad they will fix it. I have usually have life photos off, on older phones they degrade the quality. Not sure with the current, seems better. Worse part is video, took a video of my daughter blowing birthday cake…. Had to recompose as lots of small lens flare from the candles. It was awful.

Motorola Edge 20 don't have this problem and it's price is 3,5 times smaller than iPhone 13 pro. I made pictures with both Motorola Edge 20 and iPhone 13 pro, and on Motorola, the pictures don't have those spots. It is unacceptable for a expensive phone like iPhone to have this problem!

Unfortunately the upgrades from 12 to 13 seem rather fair and predictable. Great phone no doubt, but I'm sad they didn't have a better presentation for the Pro camera. They did talk about any improvements on ProRaw or if they've improved slow-mo to 4k which is very possible for these phones.

Hey Mr Legend that's a perfect fix you shown. Aye that big yellow ball is so bright at magnitude -26. Lens flares even with moon on pixel 4 and I haven't used my Pixel 4 much duren the day. How will you get this fix with Hauwei or Samsung? Sunsets can be a fantastic photo shoot. I've just put a deposit on the Hauwei p30pro on second hand shop and it's grade A which means it's in mint condition like new so I'm paying it up then it's mine. I hear Hauwei p30pro is alot better than p20pro so I'm excited now. Apple still making progress and improving. How you get rid of lens flare when shooting the Moon? The fis on the other phones is still in the editing, a healing tool in lightroom or snapseed will get rid of it pretty easily, but its still a process. I think you will be very happy with that. iPhone...moon...? Jokes aside, I wouldnt bother trying this with the moon. So far, its really only working with the sun.

For every one who sees the green dot it’s really the reflection of the sun bouncing back and forth with in the lens and lens glass . Zoom in I promise you . U will see the sun . I have videos of this and how to fix it by using ND filters

So it's not fixed. You can fix this glare with quality lenses. The glare that you see is the light that gets reflected between two adjacent lenses of the camera. With quality lenses this does not happen. Any other phone, even 10 years old phones have these but not the iPhones.

Plenty of phones do this. Even my Samsung S23Ultra does this. The iPhone is the worst though. They say the new phones have some coating, so we will see what apple has come up with once I get my hands on one next week

Well actually, Im not joking. My S21Ultra does it, my S22Ultra does it. All of my Pixels do it. As well as my Huawei phones do it. The iPhone just does it worse than those.
