Great to see how you work with iOs and to see Moog accepting of such a performance (they doo make the great AniMoog app as well). We have to work to appreciate great music, no matter how it's created. There is a tendency to only acknowledge music makers that have the most gear, the most rare synths, made with the most esoteric tools. Sure, that is great, but it's also great to be able to make music on a portable device, like an iPhone, which many people have access too. As you said, it's all really about taste and talent to create music, not the tools so much. I remember when people started performing on laptops and how new and exciting that was. Seeing a solo laptop / Max/MSP show was sort of like seeing a modular show now. To me, it was equally new and mysterious (what''s he even doing up there?).

I use Xynthesizr all the time on my Ipad, my fav app for sure. It is also a great app for sequencing hardware, you can set different midi channels for each row of color in the app as well. So you can sequence drums and different synthesizers with Xynthesizr alone. I'm really happy that you pick up this app since it deserves the attention! You should also check out shoom which is a drone synth made by the same developer.

Great video. I'm actually preparing a live set myself, where I use a AUM/Xynthesizr/... setup and I might have used the one or the other trick after I saw your video. But I couldn't strip the setup down as much as you yet, so I'm about to bring some more hardware. For controlling the apps I also use a small MIDI controller, which is quite helpful if you want to change things in more than one app at a time. Furthermore I build some generative MIDI sequencers out of a few Patchblocks modules that trigger two small synths, a few guitar effects and a couple of dictaphones for drones etc. Anyhow, I'm getting quite chatty ... thanks for your video. :)

Don’t get me started on all the audio apps I own and beta test. I have four iPads and 6 iPhones (along with a shit ton of adapters to midi control them or use them to do just about everything). I still own a boat load of hardware and use software but sometimes I love doing a gig where I literally just use an iPhone and an iPad and sometimes I get the stink eye from other bands on the same bill. But I’m not some kid that just started using an iPhone to make music a year ago. I have lugged gear, records, and just about everything else for many years-so being able to play something cool as shit on an iPhone is refreshing. I love that you played that at Moogfest. I beta tested Animoog for a year about five years ago. It is one of those apps that still plays nicely on an old iPad 3. I remember pushing Audiobus on an iPhone 4-it was such a breakthrough app. I could only get three apps to play at once but I did it and I was damn proud. I loved nano studio, music studio, and the first alchemy. I remember actually having to pay for garage band on iOS. I would check what apps were on sale daily and I literally own so many it is sickening. But if I were to buy all that gear it would be 10 times as much. Plus beta testing is fun because you get to help developers make kick ass apps that you hope will be used to make kick ass music! Total iOS addict. Love what you’re doing and love iOS integration!! You rock🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
