This is a great tutorial. The only thing that I would say is to rreeeeallly emphasize being super careful when disconnecting the touch sensor cable. I thought I was being careful, but I tore the receiving end of the connector right out with the cable and now I don't have touch sensor capabilities any longer. Everything else works fine, and I can charge the phone again. It should last until the new SE comes out. Really appreciated the parts and tools lists too. Thanks again.

A very useful video thanks. I was slightly confused to start with when the item I removed had a metal bracket on it and the new thing didn't. It was just glued on, so I pulled it off and reused it on the the new thing. Same idea as the rubber cover I suppose. Probably the trickiest part for me was reconnecting the antenna. Had to resort to using the wife's reading glasses and viewing from about 10cm away. Very pleased that I don't have to buy another phone as I like the small size of the SE and don't need anything too fancy. Hopefully it'll keep going for a few more years.

Found it almost impossible to remove screws and to replace them without magnetizing the screwdriver I don't have a set of screwdrivers so I bought the kit came with the part and I added a magnet to it and it worked great otherwise I would have never been able to get those screws out and I would have lost a lot of those

Great video! Concise (maybe a little speedy but no big criticism as easy to pause tap back 10 secs etc). I just replaced my charging port today in my 6SE for under £10 saving a fair bit of money (especially from official Apple Repair😱) . That includes the component part AND required tools which I got on eBay. Very fiddly but patience and persevere. I recommend having an iPhone shaped piece of blutack or similar and press screws you remove etc into blutack in same position as you took them from actual phone as they are all very tiny and different. Thanks to Smart Easy DIY for the video - I’ll highly recommend to anyone.

This is the best online tutorial I've found except that it includes the unnecessary step of disconnecting and removing the screen. You can complete the repair with the screen still connected -- prop it up carefully and don't open it more than 90 degrees.
@SmartEasyDIYer4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can but you do take a chance of tearing the screen cables if the screen does not stay up. That’s why I show removing it just to be on the safe side. Thanks

@@SmartEasyDIYer thanks so much, makes perfect sense. I'm embarrassed to have to ask another question: in the interim I've managed to LOSE the little metal piece you warn about at 04:50. Can one be obtained online? And if not, can I bridge the two holes it is meant to connect with a carefully tailored strip of aluminum foil? This is no emergency if it doesn't work out. I've replaced this iPhone SE and have written it off but that said, I would still be proud to get it back in working order!
@SmartEasyDIYer4 жыл бұрын
I think you could get one online I’m not sure what you call them exactly but you probably could make one with aluminum foil too.

the part I just looked up on ebay says or white or black and I have a rose gold, does that even matter?

You may see it a tiny bit around the port at the bottom but it’s very minimal.

IPHONE SE. Is the charge port White or Black. Ebay sellers are referncing these colours both for the SE> Thought I saw or read somewhere that there were differences. In fact one ws not to be confused with the apple 5 and the SE. One for the 5 being black and the other for the SE white.
@SmartEasyDIYer5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think it’s because you see a little bit of the color on the very bottom. So you want to get whatever color the back of your phone is. And you want to make sure to get the one for the SE.

I hate Iphones now, they engineer BS, I remember when phones used to last 10 years no problem. Now I have had my SE 2 years and it will not charge anymore. Before I had S4, it just slowed down so bad that I bought the SE. Later found out that all I needed to do was change the battery. Apple is a Con-man company! Miss You Steve! Great video though :)
@SmartEasyDIYer6 жыл бұрын
Yeah thanks for the comment. It’s sad that phones don’t last longer than they do for sure, I think it’s all about the money. We all miss Steve.
