The basic disassembly and reassembly steps were spot-on though we could have used better closeups of the tiny ribbon connectors - and would have liked to see you unscrew at least ONE factory installed screw from start to finish. All 22 of mine were solidly adhered with threadlocker and the garbage Torx driver that came with my kit stripped the head off more than half of the 18 that I was able to extract - I had to drill out the last 4 to get the inner frame off. During reassembly I skipped reinstalling most of the screws and ran a bead of super glue around the perimeter, clamped it until it was fully set and used acetone to remove the excess glue from the front glass. It's almost 2025 and I knew I'd NEVER need to put another battery in that Nexus 6!

@SmartEasyDIYer I'm not sure how many diys I watched/read trying to figure out this, they all mentioned to fuse in the door, but non mentioned the under hood, and modern car electric diagrams just hurt my head so I didn't see it in the manual. Thanks again.

@SmartEasyDIYer awesome that's what I thought! What's the room width upstairs with them?
@SmartEasyDIYer
@SmartEasyDIYer 12 күн бұрын
Yeah, so on mine it was 14’ wide inside upstairs. 8’ tall in the middle of the section. 5 feet at the lower end of the slope so i’m 6 feet tall and I can pretty much stand against the bottom without bumping my head if I stand sideways and my shoulders touch first. It was a lot of room.

Paul, thank you so much for your excellent video. It's December 2024 and I just changed my rear latch on my Sequoia 2001. This is the 3rd one for that car. This time I bought the all-metal one that you suggested. The process went pretty much as you described. Don't forget to remove the license plate and its screws before starting this process. Yes, the plastic clips were a must as well as the tools to remove/install them. I too found the new plastic clips to be too large in diameter. I used a fine file to reduce the major diameter slightly. They popped in and out with a nice snap after that. For some reason a critical piece of plastic that holds the threaded stud for the key mount broke off. I had to carefully glue it with lots of 5-minute epoxy and a carefully placed clamp. I let it dry for a day, and it held quite firmly. The slot in the new metal door latch was too narrow to accept the existing cable. I had to disassemble, measure the width of the slot and cable with a dial calipers. I used a Dremel grinding wheel to increase the slot width to .205" and the cable went on smoothly after that. Another job done; thanks Paul.

I saw a "room in truss" standing upright ready to be swung into place. as it was standing on the ground I thought "what if it was the first floor of a single story home"... no walls just roof no attic... build it over a crawlspace or basement....kind of like the A frame homes you see in the mountains. I am thinking cost savings. you could not build a very big home but i would think a pretty inexpensive one.....
@SmartEasyDIYer
@SmartEasyDIYer 28 күн бұрын
Yeah that’s interesting I didn’t think of it that way before. I’m guessing for the space you get accordingly it would be cheaper to stick frame it but then yes you would either need to be able to span a wider area clear span or have supports in the middle underneath. Interesting thought. Thanks
