iPhone Text Not Delivered

Have you ever sent a text message only to have it not be delivered? Perhaps you thought it was just a bad cellular connection. But did you know that there is a setting that determines how your message is sent?
There is a feature called iMessaging. It is Apple's product in sending messages via the Internet. It uses the Wi-Fi connection that you would find at your home or at a place of business. The blue text bubble means iMessaging and the green bubble means SMS text message which is through your cellular provider.
Why is this important? Some people have a text plan with limited messaging. This is when you would want to turn off the SMS text feature. To turn this off, you would go to Settings, then Messaging, then click off the SMS text messaging feature.
You can also choose to click on the little circle next to the not delivered icon by your message. This would give you the option to send it as a SMS green text message and bypass the wifi feature for this time and this time on. This is for the person who has to control their expenses.

Hey Keith. This is a bit misleading. Yes, what you have explained is correct. But... Why would you not have it send as iMessage when texts cost money and iMessage is free? All you have to do is turn iMessage off in the settings and turn it back on and it will send as iMessage again. Plus, as helpful as it was, I bet you can trim 4 minutes from that video. But, I edit things so I'm used to quick lessons. Thanks for the work though and I appreciate your time.

I had this problem too. This is what worked for me: I went to settings and made sure that my date and time were on "Set Automatically". Then I turned off IMessage and FaceTime. I turned off my device and restarted. Then I logged into IMessage and FaceTime. Everything works well now.

If your on a more recent device, one with atleast Touch ID, then you have to hold your finger on the message and it will come up above it 😉

If you have an Apple Watch would you happen to know if it is possible to send a SMS text (NOT Imessage) via Wifi only.. Example you leave your phone at home but have connected to a wifi hotspot.

I found that if your are in a place with wifi that requires a login or "accept terms of use" before access if granted, your phone will try to send/receive an iMessage thinking it good to go on wifi... but it will fail because you are not yet permitted to use the network. Either sign in first or turn off your wifi and use your data.
