I watched 10 videos and this one was the best. The important part for me was not pushing the vol up and down buttons for too long. I did exactly what you did - and it worked after about 2 hours of trying every other method seen or read. Thank you

DFU Mode does not delete anything. You can even return from DFU Mode, just by again press volume up, volume down and then hold the side button to force a restart. I have just tried it myself to verify my claims and yes, the iphone is back up and running. Restoring the iPhone from DFU mode using iTunes will however whipe everything from the device. If you intend to recover your iPhone using the DFU mode, you should disable the "search my iPhone" feature. Otherwise, the restore process won't wipe everything from your phone, which is the whole point of restoring an iPhone from DFU mode. However, after restoring and setting up your iPhone, feel free to re-enable "search my iPhone" again.
