I had to change the case to an iphone XR and a Samsung Note10+. The Note was 10x easier than this installation, also much more expensive. It took me about 1.5 hrs to get all of the glass off. I did damage the wireless charging circle, but luckily it still worked. I will never do this again. The video did make it look easy, but oh no..please don't be fooled:) I think I burned my index fingers in the process. Wear heat protectant gloves if possible. I just wore regular gloves...its all I had. Good Luck ladies and gents:) Thank you so much for the video. It was an experience.

I want to share my experience since I don't see anyone else's in the comments. Yes this took me 6 hours. It was like chipping away at hard rock trying to remove the back of the phone. I ended up just completely severing my wireless charging pad thing. But after all this time I can honestly say this replacement will work if you take your time and give a good effort. Good luck with this, but I will never do this type of replacement ever again.

& this is why it's a love/hate relationship with how Apple construct their phones while making it difficult to repair. I applaud them for how they put so much effort into all aspects of their phone's design (from the OS to hardware) but they really like to make things difficult for consumers 😂

idk.. i’ve attempted on some OEM XR part phones in the shop. it shards out pretty similar to this demonstration. it isn’t a pretty job to say the least. a hot plate/heat gun @ 185-200F🌡 + denatured alcohol + super slim opening tool = a successful OEM back glass removal... this is a piece of cake compared to a Google Pixel 3 screen assembly lift.

I tried this and it's near impossible to replicate successfully without removing the motherboard, battery, and sensors. The adhesive is extremely difficult to melt and can't really be done without exceeding a safe temperature for the components inside the iPhone. I was only able to remove the corners parts and the center portion of the back glass. And afterwards, my battery no longer holds charge and one of the mic stopped working.

No sir. This phone you are fixing doesn’t have the original back glass. It was changed before or the housing is changed with an aftermarket housing. The original would take you hours to remove and the heat gone is useless. I have a cellphone repair shop and I tried many ways and many times, a laser machine is needed.

I'm realizing that myself. It depends on the phone model which would determine how expensive a part replacement would be (especially for flagship phones). Let's a screen digitizer for my note 20U is more than $250. Other parts are pretty cheap. But I definitely would prefer repairing Android phones over iPhones. If you just wanna change the colour of your phone like me, we can try seeing if they make coloured sticker covers or eBay or Amazon, if I find some I’ll be back with the link

Apple should make the back covers out of aluminum. After watching this video and reading the comments. I’ll just buy and change the entire back instead of just glass like this guy did in the video…nice work but to time consuming and hard if you ask me
