Nice video on camera features of the iPhone. But I have a couple of comments. The main purpose of HDR isn't for vibrant colors, although the smart HDR of the XS does boost the colors. The main purpose is to increase the dynamic range (high dynamic range). So you can see more details in the highlights and the shadows than a normal photo. The live photos feature has more features than what is explained in the video. If you scroll up on a live photo you see the other options: 1. Loop (repeat) video and, 2. Bounce video (back and forth), and 3. (which is what I use it for) long exposure. The last option can be used for the silky waterfall or shoreline waves, fireworks streaks, and car light streaks, to a limited extent.

Agree. I also leave my Photo setting on LIVE Photos all the time. I love the live photos. I love the options you mention, but also the ability at times to chose a better photo from one of the collection of photos that make up the live. Those are right there under the photo and if you don't like your expression, for example, in a photo, you can browse through the whole collection of them and choose another one, making it the "key" photo.

Great review, I learnt a few things I didn't know and discovered a couple myself. When you go into camera-photo at the bottom the Rotate, Filter and another one like a sun/light dial and discovered it has even more options for Light, colour and BW. I don't tend to use those features much but there is the odd occasion when I have a great photo and it is to dark, works a treat.

in my iPhone x max i have few differences like then burst photo i have to use the volume up key to do that and i have 8 different options switches i have to turn on: record stereo sound, volume up for burst, scan qr code, grid, mirror front camera, prioritize faster shooting, smart hdr, and keep normal photo and in preserve settings i have the camera mode, creative mode and the live photos all which are switches and i dont see a few of them in this video. that four lil options at the top it dont pop up there( the hdr and camera mode option) i have to side it up to get it and the angle of my camera like 4.4 or 16.9is where my square mode can be found its not display with portrait or pano and the rest of the mode i can switch between. does that render my iPhone fake?

snow leopard not much to say in that regards. It’s great like usual. The 6Plus already ran up to 5 days and the XS Max has a even better battery . So with heavy usage I would say it lasts 1,5 days for me

Very good. But I wish you had used a Max. There were a number of minor differences, but it made it hard to follow at times. When I changed the video to 4K @ 60 the format automatically changed to high efficiency. My HDR setting says Smart HDR, not Auto HDR. There are quite a few little differences it would seem on the Max. This was published less than 6 months ago, so these things we might expect to be up to date.

Saki or readers, can any of you help? To the point, live video output from iPhone XS to external monitor (or video switcher) via 4k lightning to HDMI cable has black frame all the way around image making using it for a live stream, well...not good. Using Filmic Pro, but it seems to be a function of iPhone's output, not the app. Don't think it's related to aspect ratio since the black frame is equal all the way around the image. i.e., there is no cropping, just the black frame with the full image inset. Is there a way (via settings or some sort of scaling device?) to get video output from the iPhone that "fills" a monitor's screen? Thanks to all!, J

2:20 thats just not true u can easily find it out just by putting your finger in front of the 2x zoom lense if you are zoomed in 2x the thing is if you do this on slo mo or time laps its different then its really the 2x zoomed sensor

when you switch from 1x to 2x angle, it still using same lense (wide/top lense) even it zoom. but when you switch to portrait mode it only switch to tele lense for 2x angle.

Having issues with the front camera, the back camera is lovely but not the front camera.
