Message notifications not working on iPhone | No text alert sound even though notification is on

I have been dealing with notifications showing up on my screen when phone is locked but no sound alerts occur. I reset the settings and it briefly fixed the issue but after several hours the sounds for notifications stopped working again. Any suggestions? Should I try to reset it again? wth!!

I have been trying for days to fix this nonsense. Just today I’ve spent hours trying the same few things that everyone recommends over and over. Resetting the settings did the trick for me! Thank you SOOO MUCH!!!!

U are the only one on you tube to tell us to check to see if bluetooth is on or off. Mine was on and my notifications I could not hear. When I turned it off my sound came back. I'm a new iPhone user. Thank you so much. 😅

I think it's crazy that I have to shut off my bluetooth or disconnect my AppleWatch if I want to hear my text notifications. Surprised that Apple doesn't have a check box to force the phone to beep for text no matter what other settings are made. If on bluetooth, I might be connected to a speaker that is 20 ft away, and I miss the notification. I'm a firefighter and we receive our calls via text, so it's important to be able to always hear them. Thanks for the video... it was good, I was just hoping Apple had a solution for it. Turing on and off bluetooth every time I get in and out of my truck is easy to forget. Thanks again.

Agree this is crazy. I’m not a firefighter, but I have possible medical emergency texts I have to be able to hear notifications for at all times. Does this mean I would have to leave an Apple Watch disconnected all the time? If so, guess I won’t be purchasing one.

Here's how you do it...Open the Watch app, scroll down to Messages and open it. Check "Custom" instead of "Mirror my iPhone", and in the next section choose "Send to Notification Center." This should make it so your phone still beeps/rings for text messages and you can still read them on the Apple Watch.

Ah Ha! My Iphone has a Bellybutton. It was FULL of Lint. IE Pocket Lint. Cleaned it out and Text Notices started working again!! Thank You!
