@Blackhawks107 Yes, this is a common issue. The best suggestion is to take it slow and use appropriate tools. Pry tools, flat head screwdrivers, etc, make a great deal of difference.
@Repairsuniverseusa13 жыл бұрын
@tommydreamerrocks Yes, hard metal tools should not be used unless you are familiar with the repair. Safe open pry tools are suggested, as they are hard plastic and less likely to cause any damage.
@Repairsuniverseusa13 жыл бұрын
@To0Papii Yes, most batteries will only have a limited charge by the time you do your repair. We suggest draining the battery fully, fully charging it, and repeat 2 more times. This has worked great for us for "breaking-in" a battery.
@Repairsuniverseusa14 жыл бұрын
@asianswam Yes, this could be a battery issue. It could also be a dock issue. Check to make sure the dock port isn't damaged.
@Repairsuniverseusa13 жыл бұрын
@arjanvlek The best way is to use a pry tool of some sort and pop it out. Some have quite a bit of adhesive, others seem to have little. Be gentle and slowly pry around it, you will eventually be able to lift it the rest of the way out. 3rd and 2nd gens are nearly identical, so should be no issue there. Good luck!
@Repairsuniverseusa13 жыл бұрын
@pretzel1253 I would suggest holding down the home button, while the iTouch is unlocked. Normally only takes 10 seconds or so. Unsure if this will solve the issue, but worth a shot.
@Repairsuniverseusa13 жыл бұрын
@XxxProudxxX You will need to de-solder the connection and remove the cable. You can then replace the battery and should be no issues. Good luck!
@Repairsuniverseusa13 жыл бұрын
@failatfailing11 No, you can simply try splicing the wires, but this is not recommended as the reliability goes down. Simply twist the two ends together and make sure as much connection is made, then cover is electrical tape.

@cruiser277777 Glad you like it. Thanks for your kind comments.

@oalacord Normally, if all software options have been tried, the only hardware issue is the USB dock port. Normally replacing this can resolve the issue. We have never had this error appear for a damaged battery, but it is possible.
@Repairsuniverseusa13 жыл бұрын
@MrBarrowzscape Normally 500 charging cycles, but there are a lot of variables. Normally last 2 years with heavy use, and up to 5+ with lighter use. But just like any other part, it can degrade faster due to things like moisture and how the battery was broken in.
@Repairsuniverseusa13 жыл бұрын
@lucien0002 Sounds like a connection issue, likely caused by the solder. I would suggest attempting to resolder it, or if you are not comfortable, take it to a repair shop and just have them resolder the connection. I can't imagine somewhere local will charge you much for that.
@Repairsuniverseusa13 жыл бұрын
@AwesomeComputerGuy Doubtful, could be a very temporary fix, but soldering is the sure way to get a good connection.
@Repairsuniverseusa13 жыл бұрын
@failatfailing11 You will either need to use a screw extractor to remove the screw, or use a small drill bit to drill out the screw and remove. These are your two easiest options. As long as the flex cable is in the correct position, there should not be any issues.
@Repairsuniverseusa14 жыл бұрын
@fusionstar916 If the battery is undamaged you can solder it back on. If not you will need a replacement.

@yourabigwinner I believe they are compatible with each other. I would carefully compare before replacement however. From my understanding, there is no difference between the two.

@urtypicalguy It is quite a simple repair. Just take your time and be patient. If you are not comfortable doing it you may consider taking it to a local repair shop.

@rkimberlyann Water damage is tricky. Opening up your Touch 2nd could give you more ideas of what could be causing it. Check the battery carefully, also check for damage to the motherboard.

@MexicanMuncher Could be a bad iron or bad contact. Test it out and make sure heat is being transferred. Does not take too much to de-solder the battery connection in most cases. Good luck!

@jay666rob Its best to have a reference (such as this video) to be sure you have it lined up properly. After the old battery is removed, it becomes quite obvious where the connection needs to sit. Once it is lined, just tack it down with a small amount of solder.

Normally the battery would not cause a dim screen, a quick test would be to plug the device in. If it functions fine, the yes, the battery may be to blame. However it will likely stay dim as it is the LCD screen that is the cause - assuming there has been no motherboard damage to the device (water damage usually).
@Repairsuniverseusa13 жыл бұрын
@pretzel1253 Just to clarify, is the screen pure white - this would likely be LCD damage, or is the screen colors inversed like on the iPhone 4G? Or is the screen mostly white with discoloration, etc?

It really depends on what kind of damage was done. Leave the device in a bag of rice overnight to soak up all the water, then try connecting it to a computer to see if iTunes recognizes it. If it is recognized, then it is likely the motherboard is functioning correctly. If it not recognized then it is likely the motherboard was damaged and the device would be considered "totaled".

I have a question: the glass screen on my iPod touch (2nd gen) has one long crack that extends from the middle right side down to the bottom left.
