IPRA Bathurst 2019 Race 2 - JCox Datsun 1200 Turbo

First time we started rear of grid on the weekend, played it a bit conservative and had the boost turned right down to try and get it to last. Got 6 laps through out of the 7. Had a blast passing a heap of cars!
The car was actually harder to drive with the boost turned down because it took a long time for the turbo to spool up. It seems as though the boost mapping isn't quite right in the lower settings.
I ended up parking up near turn 2. Watch until the end, made for a bit of laugh trying to turn around and roll the car back down the hill.

This is more entertaining then anything on KZbin and TV right now, ill watch this all day any day. Obviously you don't have the fastest car but anybody highly sponsored can go fast in a straight line but you demonstrated skill in the curves and that's where the fun is. CHEERS.

Flag drops and Jordan is up so many claccas I lost count. So much faster through the esses than the vast majority of cars. His cars have good turn in and he is so confident he can get the line. I would love to see him on dirt in a top rally car - I reckon he would be exciting. Always fun to watch him drive.

Best video laps of Bathurst I've seen. That my 1200 S/W had a 5spd GX-headed A14 did bring back some memories. 1200s were a great little car! Mine was even good at towing an 8"x4", though the 180kph claimed by those 'boys in blue' was another matter indeed (I've always doubted I could pull 7,000rpm in 5th, myself)!

Never underestimate a Datsun. I had a few Datsuns, 1600's mostly, L series motors, with turbo's or twin webbers. Raced street, speedway and drag. Tough little bastards!

"Never underestimate a Datsun", (followed by more crowing, about cars not in video) in the context of this video's DNF on the day. (Irony is a victimless crime. This was BAD TO THE BONE!!! Until the problem. Did I overhear at the end when he pulled her into the stall, that it was the oil pump? I wish the driver/crew would show the outside of this AWESOME ride. Is it a fastback or coupe? I had a 72’ Datsun 1200 coupe that I just LOVED! All black inside & out, no chrome, 5 point roll bar, rebuilt motor, Centerforce clutch, modified air intake, racing seats, steering wheel, lowered 2”, Lexan tinted side rear windows, 14” aluminum rims with Dunlap 185/60 series performance tires, custom free flow exhaust, Wink rear view mirror, racing mirrors, post mounted tach & more. It was street legal in California USA. So much fun to drive. Unfortunately I sold it. Wish I kept it. That’s life. The guy who bought it was really into older Datsun rides like I am. Please post/show more of the car outside, motor, driver & team. Thank you for posting!! That driver was really HAULING ASS!!! Cheers to ALL auto racing nuts! Also, it looks like you might need a taller high end gear for the straights, maybe? KEEP ON RACING! I LOVE that track. And yes, I definitely subscribed to this channel.

Yep. Daddy raced an old Datsun back in the early 70's, scca. That car was incredibly fast. When I got to high school, he saw a few kids around with their insane v8 cars and said, You want to have the fastest car around? We can put together an old 210 if you want..." Ignorance of youth I declined.
