For those who say "IQ is useless, it doesn't measure anything". That is incorrect Its a strong predictor for success. Income, health, longevity and educational level. And a plethora of studies have replicated this result to varying degrees. The only people rail so hard against it is this new age "it's oppressive" BS narrative. IQ has value, maybe not as much as ppl think, but certainly not as little as it's detractors make it out to seem.

The CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) requires one to have a thorough knowledge of chemistry, biology, meteorology, nuclear physics, and have extensive math skills. So as soon as I heard that was his specialty, I knew he was going to score very high one the IQ test.
@CrimsonUltrafox

Yeah, to get a job like that, you need at least a 90 on the Asvab. I'm a former 0311 which is an infantry rifleman. You can get my occupation with a 30 something on the asvab. Smartest guy I ever met in the military was an Air Force guy who was a 9S100 (Science application specialist). This guy worked on nuclear weapons and made a 99 on his Asvab. He also confirmed that he had a 160 IQ from a test he took and I legit believed him because he also had a photographic memory and remembered EVERYTHING.

@@jaydaigre1023 I saw 113 and knew I was right. In the days of the internet, it takes only moments to call out a bullchitter. You may have served, if you did honor your service and stop trying to build yourself up to something you are not. The highest ASVAB score that a candidate can achieve is 99. However, this is almost impossible to achieve given the sheer difficulty of the ASVAB exam. Top-performing candidates often achieve a score well into the 70s with only a small minority achieving scores in either the 80s or 90s. Given the minimum ASVAB scores - which fall into the 30s - it is not necessary to achieve a score of 99. Most candidates who score well into the 60s can safely assume to have done well and will be in with a high chance of being selected to enlist in the US military.

God damn this was so satisfying. Had me laughing out loud. I was so frustrated watching through it, watching the military guy constantly rated last, just because he only had a high school diploma and was in the military. Some of the most intelligent people I know work the most dead end jobs, barely made it out of high school and didn't pursue higher education. None of that means anything, as those kinds of pursuits aren't for everyone or suited to everyone. And thank god, because we need tradespeople and those doing hard labor jobs more than we need another academic scientist. I couldn't fucking believe one of the women (who later went on to save face for falling low on the IQ test) even made a comment that she doesn't rate the military highly, further brining the guy down. The audacity, the ignorance, the disrespect. It says a lot about that guy that he didn't go into kill mode and dismantle them, before or after the IQ test, because he had every right to be that way. He's the kind of person we need more of in the world.

Nah "really sever dyslexia" which I straight up disbelieve because that prevents most moderatly dyslexic people from going to college, nevermind getting a degree. Unless she wants to aknowledge her privilege of being one of the rare few to be able to get a lot of expensive software, technology & extra help, private tutors etc to help her catch up to her peers? The symptoms of dyslexia don't impact on IQ tests nearly as much as standardised testing in educational settings. My main drawback was/is working memory but apart from reading comprehension of the questions, dyslexia barely impacts IQ tests, in fact we usually have better visual & reasoning skills, so tend to perform above average in those type of alternative tests. Obviously if I wasn't dyslexic my IQ test result would be higher but it doesn't magically make me look like a dunce! As you say they seem more bothered by appearance & ego rather than actual facts & logic. Which is ironic really considering the focus of this video. I read the book "Emotional Intelligence," by Daniel Goleman years ago. Emotional intelligence can be a strong indicator of success, but it is not the same thing as intellectual intelligence. To say that "emotional intelligence, street smarts, and IQ combine to determine intelligence" is just a misunderstanding of the basic definition of intelligence, and I'm glad the girl with the PhD got last. The military man showed his intellectual capabilities in just showing that he understood what the definition of intelligence was.

I just got a laugh when she was claiming her PhD and her title of "scientist" as proof, but then most of what she said seemed kind of callous and ignorant of other areas of life and intelligence. I really think people who are convinced they're super smart are actually very limited in their scope and ability to understand other perspectives, so they really think they're above everyone else. I was a US Army Combat Medic, and afterwards I used my Army scholarships to study Registered Nursing up to Bachelor level, and I didn't learn a single thing in my college studies that I hadn't already learned and faced head-on on the military side. When we'd do out practice at the hospital, I would be so much more confident and quuick-thinking than my peers cause I had already faced multiple scenarios where I had critical care patients in a high-stress environment, far beyond the level of stuff you'dd see in the civilian world short of a mass-casualty scenario like, say, a gas explosion, massive car crash or mass shooting. I felt REALLY bad for how they piled on the military dude, and it was especially unfair cause he was right out of high school! He was the baby of the group, even if he were going to college he'd still be below all of them education-wise! And yet, the way he described IQ was the most spot-on of everyone there, and he felt to me like the most reliable one in terms of him knowing what to do in an emergency situation, which is the ultimate measure of IQ and problem solving, IMHO.

@@wjerame Like I said, you can't have general intelligence without a reference backing it up. People who didn't have formal education still used knowledge as a means of a tool to innovate or use with it. They simply became more aware because they had time to think. In this day in age in public school in my experience, students are 1. Distracted, 2. Unmotivated to really want to learn the subject, 3. Slowed down when it comes to learning and 4. Worked to the bone 8 hours a day, for months. Besides, majority of the choices that you make have an influence on you weither you're aware or not. The people we claim to have high IQs are exactly the same people who have low iqs, but only know certain things that we deem should be "acceptable" academic disciplines to be considered intelligent. In this case here, your "general intelligence", Common sense, innovative or simply being creative. If almost every single person can be creative in certain ways, then everyone can be considered intelligent by default. The only reasons we compare each other is because 1. We're unaware of our perception (beliefs) and 2. We compete with each other inorder to dominate our environment/survive. To me, the only thing that being "intelligent" is, is just having a title. @@Dunderfut Exactly. Being intelligent and clever are entirely different things. You can study and learn to speak well but that does not equal intelligence. Intelligence is about resourcefulness and the ability to solve problems. Formal educations for the most part delude and ruin someone's development. As Aba said life is more dynamic it's not just a test. I think that they greatly under rated the military guy. I will say this I think that the Harvard dude is probably the most intelligent but he also handicapped himself by trying to sound PC and putting the social media guy ahead of the military guy.

Love your videos! 💛 I am in the field of Psychology. Emotional Intelligence is a newer term that has been studied. It was coined by a journalist who also happened to be a Psychologist. It was initially written about by two Psychology Professors, one from Yale. Later, it was studied by Daniel Goldman, PhD from Harvard, and written about in a best selling book. The research says that EQ is just as important as IQ. The military guy might not have know the term but his interactions show that he has both IQ and EQ. Maria knew the term but her actions and test score show she is lower in both. Great video! 💛☀️

For me, being intelligent, is being able to admit you do not know something. It shows that you have some self awareness about like hey I don’t know this. Secondly, being able to be taught a skill or learn something is another trait I would give an “intelligent” person. I work two jobs. 1) restaurant server. Multi tasking skills. Balance. Consolidation. Sales. Interpersonal skills. Memorization. 2) home remodeling handy man. Dexterity skills. Physical endurance. Communication proficiency. Reading, writing. Able to be given direction. The list goes on but to say I have “x” degree in “y” field doesn’t give you the right to hate on trade work. Which is essentially what the military guy does. MY THOUGHTS INTERNET

@Brian Takam Tyler displayed the confidence and clinical detachment typical of someone trained to be that way. He's also only 21, so is perhaps not as poised as a 30-year-old. None of that strikes me as arrogant. He certainly didn't come across as more arrogant than Maria, who clearly thought she was the smartest person in the room (she only chose someone else as #1 because it was more socially acceptable). Her body language was screaming her anger after the results came out (the head shake, the pursed lips), and she made excuses to justify her placement. That's arrogance after it's confronted with reality.
@andreacall3024

@Brian Takam Yeah, of course I'm making assumptions. I am 100% assuming intentions. I'm reading her body language and using my own common sense and experience to judge her words and actions. I could very well be wrong; maybe she just has terrible body language and mannerisms and I'm reading her the opposite of the way she really is. I never called her a snake, I just said she was doing the socially acceptable thing. I also don't know what you're referring to when you say "the criteria of Tyler's own test." Are you talking about how he didn't know anything about IQ tests? Because that's a matter of knowledge, not of intelligence. Or are you talking about the ASVAB? I don't understand what you mean if that's the case. He got an outstanding score on that test and understands exactly what it is. To be clear, people don't dislike Maria for her "confidence," they dislike her for discounting Tyler for shallow reasons.
