Love Ipswich and I learnt some new things 😁 Lots of funny bits too 😆 Happy 150th video 🥳🥳 Did you know that up until a few years ago, you could climb the stairs to the top of the water tower at Denmark Hill? I'm not sure why the gate is padlocked now, but the views from up there were just amazing, especially at sunset.

Great vid Rob. I’m a proud Ipswichian who loves our city and it’s people. I live not far from the cemetery. The River Heart Parklands Walk is still probably fenced off from the 2022 Floods. Lots of old historic buildings have been torn down over the years, the Railway Station one of them. Shame, but the ones that remain are great to see everyday. Did you venture to the Workshops Rail Museum at North Ipswich? Great place to see. Perfect for your vids. Love to see a follow up from 1904 onwards.

Gidday Rob, my son Brendan actually was the one that directed me to your channel on KZbin as I love the history of Ipswich and Brisbane... I'm loving your videos. I grew up in Ipswich and ive always had an affinity with history but obviously you've done a way better job of historical facts than I thought I had. lol. So I live in the United States now for like 20 years now. My grandfather who has been gone since I was 13yo. I'm now 60yo used to got hang out with local aboriginal kids in Dingo Hills now known as Gailes. he grew up in a house that was in Redbank that was right near the Shell Garage off of the Ipswich Road. My family has a quite the history in this region of Ipswich. I'd love to talk more about this if yo'd like. Cheers, Wes

Thanks Rob for an interesting tour around Ipswich City, I was born 1937, Ipswich Town, Suffolk UK. there were many times in my 86 years when I wished for the oportunity to visit Australia. The City open spaces are vstly different to the IpswichTown, I admire the grand white homes there, the homes here are nainly red brick built. Their is a well known conection with farm machinery built by Ransomes in Ipswich Town that was shipped to Australia in the late 1800s, no doubt some were used on farms around Queensland.

Nice work, thanks Rob. This one hits a bit different because I'm a lot more familiar with the locations you visited. Somehow even more enjoyable to watch. There were also several places I've not seen. That boardwalk on the Bremer that was fenced off is flood damage from 2011 that was never fixed. @collyernicholasjohn It is believed that Governor Gipps did sink into the mud at Cleveland, however the debate about whether Cleveland would be a major port occurred several years after the supposed event, and after his death. Great walk Rob and history lesson even for those who've lived here for decades, just a shame that the River Heart Walk hasn't been fixed in over a year since the flood of 2022. Those brass children were originally in D'Arcy Doyle Place as a tribute to the legendary artist and re-housed on the river walk this century and there was a stream created plus a Waterfall using the brine water from the Bremer River.

Congrats on the 150th episode. Great vid once again. As a long term watcher, i'd like to make one comment on this video, i dont think the editing in of the "humorous" extra clips actually works, but instead distracts and takes away the natural flow and "seriousness" of your doco's. I've seen this done on other channels and think the same. I do prefer your own quirky humour rob. Keep up the good work.

The point I was making was that people assume that the lime kiln remains are the same ones from the mid 19th century. They are not, they are different.

You didn’t get the chance to mention some of the more colourful characters of the district, like Sidney Cotton (Book - Last Plane Out of Germany) or the link to Ned Kelly’s family. Your tour was still very interesting though. The Smith family and the Architect who built Woodlands Mansion at Marburg QLD. Marburg has a fascinating and surprising history too. (Feature in a John Jarratt movie, The Settlement) It is hard to believe it was once a thriving township when you see what is left today.
