Excellent video Richard. Although the variety may not be good, it's nice to see Class 90's on freight and passenger workings in the same place. Coupled together with the old style station and this video has a certain 'classic' feel to it. Superb filming once again, enjoyed watching :)

You were there for a hell of a long time. Nice though co's you have stable movements as well as through trains. Never been to Cambridge Station so nice to see that.

Ipswich is on my to do list good that I can see what its like on youtube and I liked the video by way excellent, as for Barnetby its busy 24hrs a day the only loco's other than 66's are 60's on oil trains and the odd time you may get one on the ore train. Seen it all change from the good old days where it was 31's 37's 47's 56's and 60's all day

When I go out to far away places I like to spend all day there. Of course the freight timetables need to justify it. The next stop for a long day stay is Barnetby which is about a month away. I think Barnetby is the freight capital of the UK, rough estimate at least 6 an hour every hour. Will be interesting to see how long that video is...lol.

Barnetby aint wot it used to be. A lot of the freight run back and forth all day. Go soon as they are gonna get rid of the wonderful arm signals. There is a hotel opposite the station entrance and also one or two in the village. There is also a fish n chip shop. I have been a numder of times. A good place just a couple of miles east is Brocklesby Junction. Here you get a great view both ways and as the freight come round the curve fom immingham.A lay by for cars is ON the overbridge. Enjoy

Cambridge is a bad station to go for freight. The only working is the one I filmed which coincidentally went past 20 mins before my train left. The station has a weird structure too, with 6 of the 7 platforms not needing a bridge or underground tunnel to reach. The platform is so long that you can have 2 lots of 8 car trains along the main platform which is 1 and 2. 3,4,5,6 are spurs from that with terminated bays. 7 is across the bridge, recently built.

Yesteryear I went to Barnetby ALL day .7 am till 7pm and drive there and back. Just dont wanna do it now. I do have loads of video at this station but it's no where near as busy now and no where near the variety of workings. Ill see if I can find a yesteryear video and revamp it for KZbin. It's on VHS tape so takes a bit of doing. , Take it easy.

Ipswich is good in some ways. Suffers from variety though. All freights are pretty much containers and most locos are 90's. I prefer stations with fast and slow trains, especially if they have sidings that go around the station. If you like up close and personal then Ipswich is a good place to go.

From what i've seen the variation is with the freight itself. Loco variation is not that great with 66's dominating. Whats interesting to me is like you say the older infrastructure. If someone is there who drives I will ask for a ride to Brocklesby but since I'm going by train I probably won't. I will do my best to get as many shots outside the station as possible though. There is no video on your channel for Barnetby, if you have one I'd love to see it :)
